    8:20 thats "puso ng saging" or heart of the banana or known as flowerbud of a banana - Banana flowers emerge at the end of a bunch of developing bananas and grow from a thick, fibrous stem, from google. 😅😄😆 15:18 love adding calamansi and fishsauce for palabok 😍 I could eat that all day with cold pepsi coke

      Yes I agree. But since they don’t seem to like it. I’m pretty sure they will not even bother to eat them again🤣 Asian foor is not for everyone, unless you have the stomach for it. which is understandable tho. Have a safe and happy trip. Take care you guys. Be safe in the Phil.

    Apologies for the staggered replies. Shrimp shell is left when cooked because it’s what gives out the most shrimp flavor. In fact in some dishes, the shell alone is boiled and added to sautéed vegetables to give the dish a shrimp flavor.

      I thought it is the heart of banana tree and blossom is the flower pls. Correct me if i am wrong.

    • @mcillancadfish
      @mcillancadfish 7 місяців тому

      @joelwycoco1791 Banana blossom or heart is pertaining to the flower, while if it's the inner core of the banana tree, it's called ubod ng saging or banana pith/ banana stem

    many cook kare-kare without salt so that without the shrimp paste there's no saltiness at all. just mix the bagoong in very well (and don't put a lot to start with!) and you won't notice it's there, you just taste the salt and umami.
    the adobo my mom cooked had both potatoes and carrots---need extenders when you're feeding a family!
    menu-dough lol. just remember that all our vowels are short so meh-noo-doh

    That's a very common Filipino food in the Philippines, you guys will do well in there if you like this food it's very common in homes and in Turo Turo (Carinderias) they are age old recipes but none of them are exactly the same from places to places from home to home from their mothers before them👌👍😉😎✌ Note: vegetable you guys can't recognize is actually a banana, a starting bud before it sprout into the clump of fruit you would normally see, they call it "Puso ng Saging" translate to "Heart of the Banana Tree" because it's shape like a heart.. FYI

    I think original adobo doesn't have potatoes. But I sometimes add it to the recipe just an extender if I got a few meat cuts. But it can replace rice if there's much potatoes in the recipe.

    I almost say oh no they're too americano for the taste of shrimp paste but Welp I'm just glad that they kinda like the strong taste of shrimp paste (bago-ong)
    Filipino cuisine is top-notch when it comes to strong taste... My suggestion is just eat more rice if it is too salty cuz that's the point xD but eating carbs will make your tummy full too heavy ngl

    The Veges with the Kare Kare is the Banana bloom. They call it Banana Heart. Yes I agree you have to use serving spoon to avoid spoilage, Asian food can be refregerated in days and still safe to eat. But if you are not use to this type of cooking or meats, you will bever appreaciate the quality of the taste.

    Potatoes or boiled eggs in adobo as extenders balance thd flavors altogether😁 They're both perfect complements to the dish, one reduces the strong sourness and saltiness, while the other one adds a different flavor & texture to it. It really depends which one prefers😁

    in the Philippines we have our own recipe in every dish, its like different in every household. It doesnt necessarily mean copying whats in, like, jollibee, no! we dont do that. We use to cook thats what in our taste buds tells us. Take for example the kare kare, the veggies thats in there depends on what we prefer and the cooking way of shrimp paste also vary coz for me i dont like the heavy smell, we use to lessen the smell. And also in adobo - some are with sugar but i dont like sweet adobo, im not into sugar, and some have potatoes, some have chicken eggs, and some have quail eggs. Other adobo have sauce in it other prefers almost dried ones (letting the liquids to evaporate) especially meat adobo. And we also have veggies adobo (string beans, kangkong and baguio beans, etc)
