  • I think the title says it all. I just wanted to make a simple video to hopefully give some tips and hints to those wanting to try their hand at Argent Metal.
    I would also urge you to check out these two channels, as I learnt most of this from them:

      I'll think about doing some more in the future. I definitely need to master a little bit more of its intricacies to be able to upload a meaningful tutorial, but let me know if there is anything in particular that you would like to know.

    Mick used a bunch of tube distortion pedals, two phasers, reverb, tape echo, tape machine, two spring reverbs and a practice amp for a feedback loop, gaining 4 times more than it can handle.
    Also, using the sidechain compression and reverse limiter.

    • @davidcsontos
      @davidcsontos  4 місяці тому +1

      Yes. The video is just a simple version of that array.

    Very nice!
    ...20 plugins later...
    edit:
    9:38 there is a sound in between the notes. am rather confused where that came from. it sounds nice.

    • @davidcsontos
      @davidcsontos  9 місяців тому +3

      That's the feedback happening.
      P.S. Yes, the thing with Argent synth sounds, especially the bass is that it is very much dependent on mixing a lot of different distortions at the same time. We are also trying to replicate the differences that digital hardware would have in an actual real world setting, so that makes things even more complex. You have to fake the mangling of real pedal and amp/tube distortion.

    • @SomeGuy-ne3yl
      @SomeGuy-ne3yl 9 місяців тому

      @@davidcsontos Oh, thanks for the answer 🙂
      Yeah, I've not done such advanced stuff yet. I suppose the feedback started happening because you un-soloed the "movement" track around 9:25?

    • @davidcsontos
      @davidcsontos  9 місяців тому +2

      @SomeGuy-ne3yl Actually, let me correct myself. I was thinking of a slightly different array. Just skimmed through the video quickly.
      What you're hearing is all that compression and distortion messing with one of the plugins, sounding very similar to digital feedback.
      It also happens when you use an upwards compressor on something like an amp sim for example, where the noise of the plugin is made many times louder.
      Which plugin it is I don't remember, but this is one way to fake a feedback loop, which would sound very similar.

    • @davidcsontos
      @davidcsontos  8 місяців тому +1

      That's the beauty of it. You can easily replace parts of the chain with what you can find. It's all up to you, and whether you like the sound.
      I would probably point you to Neural DSP's Plini, specifically the first, acoustic amp. I use that a lot as well. Try and look at guitar amp emulations, and see which one you like the sound of. Then, turn off the cab!
      If I remember something else, I'll post it in a reply here.

    I'm trying to follow along with what your doing but the sound I'm making using using (Vital) doesn't sound like the one you have without pre-computed effects. I have all 3 oscillators enabled.
    Osc 1 - Sine wave
    Osc 2 - SIne wave
    Osc 3 - Saw wave
    What other things did you change because when I apply the effects (same plugins and settings btw) it doesn't sound like what you have. How do I recreate the sound your synth makes in Vital?

    • @davidcsontos
      @davidcsontos  6 місяців тому

      You might not be able to recreate it one to one. I'm not familiar with the layout of vital but you're on the right track!
      What you might need to do is to just have one instance of vital with a low tuned sine wave, then send it out to three tracks using your daw.
      The rest is really just a matter of trial and error, in trying to find the plugins that you have, which can positively change the sound.
      When you make the synth patch, also try to make it a combination of a kick and a bass.
      Let me know if this helps.

      @@davidcsontos I got a sound that is pretty much the same sound but a little different and muffled. Don’t know why tho
      Also what are some free flanger plugins that create that bubbly sound? I got some but they don’t really make the sound bubbly

    • @davidcsontos
      @davidcsontos  6 місяців тому +1

      Not too sure about free flangers. I did not use any of the free ones, but if you keep an eye out, there are usually some great deals on plugin boutique. MODPAK by NI might be worth a shot, as long as it is on sale.

    Ha van esetleg Saturnod, a harmadik send-nél próbáld ki.Ez a vidi is hasonló elven készült, mint a Keepforestes verzió? Abban van egy convolution reverb használat, de nem nagyon értem, hogy nem recseg, ropog neki, mint nekem. Erre van ötleted?

      Hasonlo, de a Keepforest-es-be sok az olyan hangoknak a hasznalata amik mar keszen vannak, amit nem mutatnak a videoba hogy hogyan keszultek. A recseges es ropogas a torzitastol fugg, es digitalisan ezt eleg nehez elerni. Nincs egy modja. Probalj meg tobb torzito vst-t osszerakni, egy OTT-vel, vagy Argent Compressor-al!
