@@andidklein Crap coach? When he is the first coach in a very very long time to beat Ohio State and Michigan State in his very first season? When he beat a 20 million dollar NIL Ohio State team loaded with five stars and without his two best starters on offense and defense and kept that team off the scoreboard n the second half and when OSU did not get a first down in the fourth quarter when he recruited the best available quarterback all after Harbaugh took a lot of the staff with him.
Please. Give me that kind of mediocrity any day!

Joe Sloan has not won anything at LSU. He had Heisman QB and did not make the playoffs. His talent level has been greater than Michigan overall. For this reason, I do not favor Joe for M's OC opening.

Michigan needs to humble themselves and go back and get the man that bought the offense at the right time that Michigan needed to at the time Ohio state went and got Urban Meyer.
Michigan needs to go back and get RichRod, In part as a show of humility for how they treated him. When he was head coach, he he literally got done how Tom Hermann got done - you don't bring a head coach in and then hog time and then dismiss them because you wanna pursue this illusion of tradition of the so-called Michigan man, which heretofore hadn't been established yet.
It was just a mantra without a reality - which is nothing but pride and pride gets resisted.... grace is extended to the humble.
Which is why Michigan Had so many losing seasons.. This is a real thing. Folks pride is the only iniquity in man that God in heaven promises to revisit himself... do the scriptures not remind us; "vengeance is mine, says the Lord I will repay"
Any system that satan can use to flaunt? God can reverse that and put it right back on his head and those involved... It's as simple as it is nuanced.
Be humble and you'll be blessed, Michigan is figuring that out....
I like the idea of Byron left, which because he understands a spread offense, but Rich Rodriguez was there when the spread really was just taking off - and he's got a lot of experience and he's a heck of a recruiter, the man can find a quarterback, he can find running back too.
Short of that, none of the other names on the list are doing anything for me.
Dan Mullin, I'm actually not mad at the idea, but his problem is he really doesn't know how to work with a spread RPO type scheme.
When he was at Florida, all of their quarterbacks were pocket passers. They had one that was at least mobile.
In the quarterback that they had playing michigan was not mobile.... Butt could scramble and scrambling and mobility or rushing. Being a dual threat for entirely different things
If whoever the candidate is cannot operate within the constraints of a spread. RPO style system they. Ought not even be on the table for consideration. Because that was the problem with Kirk Campbell. He was a quarterback coach, he doesn't have a playbook. He had to be given one. He only knows one thing. Pocket passers, which is why Davis Warren was running all over the place. Because q big coaches know nothing of a run game. And the run game is established at Michigan. We just have to flesh it out

Rich Rodriguez never believed in physical toughness and that won' t play in Michigan. I remember the Wisconsin game when they told us they were running the ball before the play and we could not stop them and they did that about 15 times in a row.

I think your idea of reconsidering some coaches/analysts from the past is always prudent, if only because they now know more about what Michigan expects of them. RichRod certainly knew about a dynamic offense but as HC, virtually ignored the entire subjects of defense and special teams. That said, if he were willing to rein in the HC ego and work WITHIN Coach Moore's organizational structure, he might contribute some great ideas
