    You really killed this topic among all UA-cam tutorials, and you have such a detailed explanation that I finally have a deeper understanding of how patterns are formed: pixels display as black-and-white values based on the algorithms, Thank you, sir! Also, have a question if I can generate dot patterns based on every cross corner of the Voronoi cells? Thank you again, you are awesome!

      You can try to create a dot at the center of crosses by first creating a dot at the center of the cell (can be done by using the Euclidean output from a voronoi texture with the same values and a color ramp) and then manipulating the location on the texture coordinate node of the Euclidean voronoi texture.
      I hope that helps solve your question. :)

    Just BRILLIANT! Absolutely BRILLIANT! Packed full of essential, useful information from beginning to end. I have watched a lot of Blender tutorials. This is by far the best explanation of the voronoi texture. You explain clearly with many easy to understand visuals. At the end, after a thoroughly enjoyable 52 minutes, I finally understand the voronoi and how to use it. Thank you so much for creating this tutorial. You have turned a complex, often used but never understood texture into one I totally understand. THANK YOU! Dg

    thanks man! this was really a great help. Wish more people were interested in understanding and making videos on how these noises in blender work at the technical level you explained rather than just relying on tweaking the input knobs.

    I really love how you explain things and yoyr content makes it feel like I'm actually formally learning! and enforcing that just because someone chooses a creative field doesn't mean you won't need math and that math is actually a very creative thing!

    Wow! this is such a brilliant video. I'm quite new to blender but you are such a good teacher that I stayed on the track till the end! Thank you so much, this is super valuable content. I'd love to see a part 2 with more practical examples, as although I understood the theory, it opens so many possibilities that I can't even imagine how to actually use all these different settings.     Your videos about demystifying nodes are imo the best videos on that topic and I hope you keep doing this.
    I'm also interested in how the minkowski distance works so a video about it would be interesting

      I'll definitely do my best to keep making demystifying videos from time to time!
      The minkowski metric is essentially a formula that actually outputs the same distances as the other metrics, based on the exponent value.
      It is a fairly small formula, but explaining it would shift more towards a math based video, rather than an animation based one.
      I'll do my best to try and figure out some visual analogs for it and then create a video on it very soon.
      However, in case I don't, I'll create it as a mathematical video and release it on another channel of mine, when I start posting there soon. I hope it'll help :)

    Thanks for this video so much! I wanted to learn about shaders in Blender and decided to start with the voronoi texture node, but the only videos I found just showed what each aspect of the node does visually while also referring to distance, position, etc. without explaining what those words even mean. It made me feel like I'm stupid for not knowing something they already knew, really, and they didn't treat it as if it's a concept that's needed to be taught. This video made it clear what those words actually mean and I can see now how understanding exactly what is going on can help someone visualize in their mind how to replicate a specific texture they want to create.
    I look forward to more videos from you, you're one of the best teachers I've seen on here!

    Commenting to boost engagement cause this deserves it :) thank you so much! Vid is a great example of why I think Blender would be a great tool to teach seemingly abstract and overwhelming math. Helps you visualize things that sound scary like p-norms and vector operations and ground them in reality. You're a great teacher!
