In my experience the motors will just stop, unless you bypassed or removed all of the electronic locks, thermistor, and switches it’s probably one of those that gets wrecked before the motors.

I've used 2s lipo with no problem. Then I used 3s lipo with a buck converter to reduce the voltage ~9v. It works perfectly fine for me

I just use two 14500 TYPE Lithium and two dummy AA batteries and it works fine.

i had a fun experience of modding a stryfe solely by soldering the XT-60 connector to the AA battery terminals
and proceeding to connect it to the wrong terminals...

You can use a 2S especially if you twist the wires of the thermistor together.

i replaced my stryfe flywheel motors with $1 cheap tamiya dc motor
it's actually quite scary it runs off a generic 3.7v 18650 lithium ion battery it shoots quite hard but it's shredding the rubber front part of the foam dart
the rev time is quite long and I'm still using the stock flywheel at least it's good for semi auto

Nah, that's BS, mate. A 3S wouldn't burn any NERF motor instantly. I tried it in a Rapidstrike and it worked for quite a while until I replaced the internals. You probably just burned the thermistor right at the battery tray. Look at your wires with the clamps. Those things could fail even faster

Thermoster for sure, even swapping the stryfe's motors out but still on AAs triggers the thermoster

I reckon bs. I also ran a rapidstrike off of 3s for a while just by soldering onto the battery terminals. Later on I took the thermistors out and rewired it with new switches and that work well. It didn’t burn out on me but I was cautious.

It will run just fine on 2s, 3d is severely overvolted, the switches will burn out long before the motors or wires give out.

I modded it to work with 2 serial connected 18650 cells.3.7 volts each 7.4 volts.For a basic math 1.4 volt does not make that big of a difference on a DC motor like this because of the low current.But over 2 voltages for ex around 9-8 voltages it is lethal for both wiring and the motors.Probably 7.5 volts is the limit for sudden on off situations
