@@jj-vu5ov I don’t feel this app would be good for human trafficking. It would be too easy to connect the criminal to the victim since everything is recorded on the app. Since the idea would be to sell tickets and hotel rooms (which means having everyone’s ID and credit card information).
I feel that Kevin’s idea to make this a romantic trip is much more dangerous.
Her app idea is not outrageous, it’s the same principle of group tours, people already travel with strangers thought agencies, there nothing so new about it.

They would definitely need to build in quite a bit of background checking based on user supplied information to make this work and typically new startup companies will cut corners where they can. And thats assuming you can still get around the identity theft. And all of that would drive away people wanting to use the app anyways because then it wouldnt be "easy enough". And theres still the factor that this app is encouraging single women to travel across borders without someone they know, whether the stranger theyre going with is a predator or not. But even then, this app doesnt need to attract career criminals, just creeps that get upset enough when they dont get what they were expecting from this app. And it would heavily depend on the country they visit caring about security and being able to work with an app like this to launch investigations which is questionable

Especially with human trafficking that is rampant on the world. How many times u hear about a trafficking ring getting busted? It don’t happen.

It is amazing how many things I have conceived that others have now invented and are making money on. To find a match, it takes two people going to the same destination, at the same time, wanting to do the same things, and both being trustworthy enough not to raise a red flag with one another. Debra may be an accountant, but she's certainly not a statistician since the odds of a successful match are tiny, and definitely not a Finance expert since the cost of acquisition of members will by far exceed the price someone will want to pay for this service.
I also see vulnerable people getting baited by predators into going to dangerous travel destinations, and getting robbed, kidnapped, etc... once there.

@@amandadonaldson8748 , this is a business idea born from a personal need or an expressed need. One assumes that if they would pay for a service or know someone who told them they would, then it means that there's a market for it.
The first part of what you say is a false assumption. It doesn't take finding people wanting to do the exact same thing by chance. There are many people who look around for travel ideas before deciding where to go, and if they were so inclined to want to travel with a stranger, they would chose the trip based off matching with that person.

There is so much competition in the online travel industry that it'll be very difficult to be organically visible (for free). The only option would be to invest heavily in advertising but reaching and converting this small market niche will be so expensive that it will be very difficult for the business to be profitable.

It wasn’t so much guaranteed since that would be on the prostitution scale, but the whole tinder esq hookup type platform could have been used and she would have made money.

I enjoy watching shows such as the Dragon Den and the Shark Tank. I get financial advice and financial information for free, instead of going to a financial planner or advisor and pay an outrageous hourly fee just to listen to them.

I travel internationally quite a bit, and engage with other travelers every day in online travel groups, so I instantly understood the core/primary audience for this service: single women who frequently express reservation about traveling "solo". The pitch was TERRIBLE in that it took her until the @4:28 mark (and who know how much longer in the unedited pitch) to mention this! Had she defined the market problem from the start...concerns about safety, the struggle of finding a friend who will commit to traveling (and follow through), and the difficulty of agreeing on details like destinations, expenses, trip lengths, etc...she would have properly set the tone for the ensuing conversation. That said, her problems were MUCH deeper than just the pitch; she needed better advice about how to build the product long before she even considered being on Dragons' Den.
there is that market .. but it is small.. and relatively small budget or scope for repeat sales..
with the celibate plan - once a person has made a friend - they never need the service again.. with the action plan - people can meet a new lover each time they pay the fee..

I mean honestly single travel is annoying you have to pay a premium so it gets costly and it can be lonely to go on things like cruises and excursions alone. So it would be great to have a service that would match you with a group to share accommodations with. At the same time singles tour groups exist and do exactly that. Also a vacation is usually a pretty expensive and intimate thing that most people wouldn't want to share with a near complete stranger. You are trusting hundreds if not thousands of dollars of a trip. access to your valuables and having to stay in close quarters with a stranger while possibly being in a foreign country where it can be difficult to receive help if they act criminally towards you. I would much prefer and feel safer just paying a couple hundred more for a well qualified tour group or doing a singles cruise.
