This is a really useful video Les. I'm really concerned about my chasis members but there are no other videos that really show what can be done. I recently came to the conclusion the floor would need to come up even though it looks recently replaced. Also my cross member looks to be self manufactured. Your video shows how it can all be done. Thanks for that. Also great work as always and undertaken in a very calm and considered way.
I'm so glad that my video has given you an insight and hopefully helped in some way. I have many other videos to put together as I have a bit of time on my hands at the moment Good luck with your car.
Superb video. Unfortunately, I need to replace sills x 2, floors x 2, cross member, and partial right chasis rail. My biggest issue/concern was sequencing of repairs and this video provided a way-ahead. Many thanks!
just about to do this, my cross member isn't quite as rusty, but it does have a fair amount of scale rust. Im hesitant to do this as before I bought the car the previous guys had put in a new heritage floor pan on drivers side
That's buying from eBay you don't know who to trust. Good and bad sellers. The car was bought from eBay with full years MOT. Who ever supplied that MOT should be behind bars as this car was a death trap. Take a look at some of the other videos and you will see.
@@DesAcetek Yes i will watch your other video's I subbed to your channel. Having owned 2 GT's back in the 70's i have been fancying doing a roadster V8. I even considered fitting the MGB bodyshell over a TVR chassis. Big project either way. I have had many sports cars in the past & at present a F type R Jaguar convertibla. But at some point it must go as finances get tighter. Hence a project car like you are doing. Good luck
Most of the mgb's for sale on Ebay will require major surgery. This car is just so easy to botch up to look fantastic. Any rotten floor, jacking point or sill will certainly require full sill replacement and this is a major job to do. However this is all easily patched and filled to look as good as new. Should be picked up on MOT but often not. I have owned a cheaply bought mgb that was even more horrendous than I first thought and was simply described as having some surface rust. These cars rust from the inside out at a terrific rate and ANY surface rust is going to be serious.

Yes, I had to do the same so I know where you were coming from. I'm glad you found it helpful.

I'm sorry to hear that, I was lucky as so much needed replacing so I could cut what ever I needed to.
Nice buy man.
