Great start to a new edition. So are you still excited for 4th? Best advice, just stick to third if thats what you like, its not as if the new ed will be any better.
@bensiens2551 the only problem with that is, if you only can play at game stores like most people. Then you have to play the latest rule set. Because that’s all people will want to play. Just so they can enter into comps. Found this out when 40k 10th Ed dropped. No one would play 8th or 9th because they were forced to enjoy the new crap rules or not play in any comps. I'd wait until we know what just gets resculpts before getting angry, like the Liberators. This has been incredibly badly communicated, but a lot of these units will just get updates and you will be able to use the old models. Plus sthe stuff you can just proxy. Like your judicators will do fine as vigilors on the table
You should buy some of these beastmen armies that are hitting ebay. It'll be really fun rebasing them back to square bases to be used in the highly valued and lauded old world that GW is definitely putting time and love into

Many nice models. Why bother with bad (GW) rules if you love models and dislike the army lists or rules??? In my book the most important thing is good models. Rules, army lsits, scenarios can be tweaked need be.

FFS, are people really incapable of reading? They said - several times I might add - that you can still use your old minis as the new minis. But I guess reading comprehension is less important than whining.
@@fuzesidaniel1701 Sound's like a good plan yes? These will feature new background and rules, and will be considered legal for use in competitive play until summer 2025. At this point they will move over to Warhammer Legends, and will no longer be supported for competitive play. I mean yeah until 2025 My reading comprehension is fine.
Ah man that really sucks, it’s such a kick in the guts, I feel for you. When GW killed Warhammer Fantasy nine or so years ago it felt like this. But I held onto my minis and played them in other non-GW games (Oathmark, Warlords of Erehwon, Kings of War). I hope you fished those minis out of the bin; hold onto them, they’re pieces of art you have created and I hope you find a way to keep playing with them in the future
As a Deepkin player, I find this wildly concerning. The poster boys of AoS are loosing more models than Deepkin have units. It’s insane that they are getting rid of models that new already
This not only a "model range refresh", it's a "player base refresh". It happened with WFB back in the day, it happened with 40k too, and now it's happening with AOS. It doesn't matter what you paid, what does matter is that you keep paying. Older editions are not dead, they exist, it's only a matter of organization, the player base is going to be divided anyway, at least, you can try to still play with your stuff, cause if you depend from GW directly only, this is not going to change. They might do that progressively, with newer army books, but they still going to do it.
I'm basically left with Gardus now. There is no Lord Relictir on the list, but he is not avelible separately so I'm sure he’s also gone. When we look at this whole situation with cold logic, such a decimation is a reasonable solution for the army as well as for the game. SCE are bloated beyond reason, and they had to do something about it if they are thinking about the game and not only about selling miniatures. But following the same cold logic we can clearly see that GW have no regard for their customers’ money and time. Not only they are refusing the range, but they are replacing units with the same units that look different (and terrible I would add). So instead of minimalizing the hit to their customers caused by their long mismanagement of the factio, they want to yank even more money from them. No apology or real explanation either. I will not touch those bastardised ThunderShitStainStrike abominations with a stick. I doubt that I will buy any more SCE I think that GW will not make much money out of me. They show how they value their customers.
Having been through this situation before with GW I have a lot of sympathy. However... given where AoS came from, you shouldn't be surprised. They squatted or assigned terrible rules to the vast majority of WHFB models just to make AoS, so of course they're going to do it again whenever they feel like the range is getting bloated or they just want more of your money
Why are people saying their collections are "gone" when a model kit goes out of production or is replaced by a new version? Do you simply refuse to own miniatures that are not currently in production? That's why you have a bin?
As a player of opr who plays the army list he like with models thathe likes the most from 8 different company's, I just sit back, get some popcorn and smile... 😁
Kitbash. I spread this message to any and all willing to listen. GW will screw you over with really dumb decisions. If you ever think "They can't be that stupid", your answer should always be "Yes they are." Kitbash your models, call them whatever unit they resemble closest on the roster, and rename them when units are removed/replaced. If your model doesn't resemble anything? Shelve it until a new model line inevitably is released. I made a bunch of Ork lootas back before deffguns were a thing. Now they are kommandoz that simply use space marine guns and wear camo.
I mean the liberators are being updated and so are the flying guys, I think the paladins are probably gonna get updated too. The sacrosanct stuff though that sucks, I really do think they dropped the ball here, especially since they are really recent stuff. They downsized the stormcast in the absolute worse possible way, they should have just combined warscolls for lots of the units since most are just a weapon option with 1 different ability. Sucks for Bonesplitterz I really held out hope that they would update them, same for Beasts of Chaos. Only consolation I can say is that you got quite the handsome models for proxying other stormcast units.
I was wondering if that will be the case, they should really have split it up into these models are getting a refresh and these ones are gone for good. Like I imagine the Liberators, the flying boys and the paladins will get all new sculpts and new weapons, but then you can use the old ones that you have already. Well that is the hope anyway.
My (pretty shitty) crystal ball take is that they're testing the reaction to a rotation of models. They've just seen a massive success in "un-retiring" a whole games worth of models from 8 years prior. Unfortunately, by only squatting a fraction of the player base, there won't be enough of momentum or a pushback from the community as a whole to seek another game system. I can see this happening to a bunch of factions/models in the future. Savage Orcs, Beastmen, and even Skaven likely have a destination for their current models, be it the Old World or a range refresh, but Stormcast and Warcry warbands will be interesting to see if they try bringing them back a-la "Old World" style and reinvigorate sales on manufactured nostalgia. I am pretty cynical on this shit though.
I'm trying to buy my first models to learn how to play and seeing they going to waste LITERALLY gives me physical and mental PAIN! I'm from Brasil! WHATHEVER THE PRICE YOU PAY, ad 5x to 6x times here! And that's just the money conversion! We still have to deal with the taxes who can be from 60% to 100% of the price! 😓
At first I didn’t pick up on the sarcasm and was thinking “dang this guy is really taking this like a champ…” lol. I don’t play or keep up with stormcast, I couldn’t name a single unit or stormcast, but seeing this really put into perspective just how much they’re getting rid of. Outrageous!
This is why we need a community rule set. Like what happened with Epic/Mordheim/9th Age. Build a rule set that is controlled by the players. That way we can make design decisions based on on playability and fun, and not GW’s bottom line.
@@dominikhupp3989 I really, really wish I could love One Page Rules but dear emperor they’re so freaking flavorless. OPR also suffers from the same “models are just wound counters” as 40k/AoS. Overall, I can’t say OPR are necessarily worse than 40k/AoS, but the bar is so low at this stage that it just doesn’t feel worth my time.
I don't understand what you mean by flavorless. By the end of the day, every miniature in every wargame is just a walking hit point with stats. For my part, wargaming is just a rpg on a bigger scale. We tell story's, name our units, even tailor our own factions. The tactical depth (not overcomplicated rules) is another great aspect. For steamrolling enemies with obscure rules there is magic the gathering.
It's absolutely bonkers that they decided to cull a range this new, rather than simply consolidating rules. I'll grant that the rules needed to be massively trimmed due to warscroll bloat, but the only concievable reason why they'd go about it this way is as anti-consumer money grubbing. My heart goes out to BoC players, it's honestly tragic to see such a betrayal, after years of being strung along.
Me a year ago, start of GW journey : 3D printing is cheap and lousy. Me, now : anyone not 3D printing armies is literally self-harming. I'm OK, I only play Kill Team. Imperial Guard. Using Bolt Action proxies and a few "bits" from EBay.
I spent most of this year collecting BoC to use for my show case army starting for AoS4. Even going as far to learn how to use the fly fishing hair to add character to these old models. Well crap on that no warning just gone. I am suppose to be thankful I can use the in old world but screw that Kings of War here I come.
You could have stayed with 9th Age and not had this problem. You keep giving them money so it's hard to feel any sympathy for you. this video was entertaining, thanks! thought it was for real at the beginning
The stupidest thing in this situation is the сrazy people who are happy that “the neighbor’s house burned down.” All Warhammer games are made by the same Games Workshop. No Warhammer game is immune to bad and unpopular GW's decisions. That is, tomorrow the same thing will happen to what YOU love!
I have a room full of armies that have been binned since WFB days. How do I justify spending another dollar on GW products after this? And then we can start to talk about all the most current books that have been bought and are now useless. Just unreal.
100%, I find it ironic that when you look up your orders on their webstore it states "(Please also think of the trees)" when printing out a receipt but they literally produce mountains of books that are useless sometimes on delivery to the customers or 3, 6 or 12 months after release.
These days I can't really recommend GW games to people given the price, how often they update the rules, and discarding of models (which other companies do also from time to time, but most other companies you don't pay $2000 for an army).
I have to say, thank you for being a bit more honest about this than the general shill channels that always tiptoe around anything GW does. Like, yes, stuff gets resculpted and updated, but they picked a really weird way to go about announcing it. You didn't see them just loudly declare "okay, Scouts and Terminators are dead and removed from the game!" shortly before 10E came out. And that's just for the armies that are actually coming out of this kind of okay: Stormcast and Skaven. BoC players got a throwaway line about "ackshyually they'll have a Legends list so *technically* we never lied about you still being able to use them in 4E. It's your fault, really." I'd be really curious to see what GW's general AoS sales look like from this mark.
Imagine playing Beastmen through the End Times, rebacing on rounds for AoS, collecting and playing through nine years and three editions, watching your resculpts go to Killteam, Slaves to Darkness, Warcry and Desctruction, and reading today that don't worry, you can still play your Beastmen in The Old World.

I bought a ton of starter packs for Stormcast because they’re my favorite faction and now I find out today that their all obsolete. I haven’t even finished painting them all because I bought a ton for a big army and I work, but now all that money and time I did put into painting was a waste. Literally my whole army is obsolete now, this is bs and I will never buy another GW product ever again. I’ll just go back to other table top games, guess that’s my fault for wanting to try and get into AOS tabletop.
Try OnePageRules. Easier to learn, easier to play and a lot less stressful. And games are faster too.
honestly good for you they realy have startet with shit like that and i guess they will get away with it because they have the monopol on warhammer that and the sometimes insane pricing (poor 40k admech players)
Not even April fools day!
you know that scene from that one spongebob special episode, where patchy is tearing away and destroying all his spongebob merch? that's what beats of chaos players are doing rn
Bookmark this video. It’s a good snapshot in Warhammer history.
I’m surprised we didn’t see a torched bin 😂
I'm glad you see it their way, think of all the possibility space they let you open up sky's the limit
I got stuck on 8th and never moving away from it, apart from maybe trying 9th age rules (same models and base sizes). Sticking to the core of where I once started. Age of Sigmar and the culling of Warhammer Fantasy got me put of the hobby for like 10-15 years
i dont even play sigmar but i know the feeling, lost a lot of marines last year.
BoC player here, so a lot of opportunity for me
Opportunities for old world abound

I can't find another game with factions I like, and 40k is no better than AOS. Kings of War and OPR are the only options I see.
It's not the first time they have done this, not even close. I left GW's edition chasing BS behind back during 5th edition. There are many other games out there.
Yeah, but there aren't many games whose lore and universe I care about like this one.
@@cthuludreams1 You mean the lore the introduced around the same time I left the company ? The Black Library pulp that launched some of the worst writing and now retconning in sci-fi history ? If the lore is what has you hooked, well frankly you need to read better literature.
I really think they could have handled this better. They could have explained WHY they did this and added suggestions for what you can proxy each model as.
or like say ehh we cant have 20 different slightly different mealy sword guys letz just say we have 1 sword unit 1 spear unit and 1 ranged unit slime down some others to have weapon options instead of being a nother unit and bam basicaly what i know about how old school taktic marines worked 1 unit a few special weapons in it and a few specialized squads like devastors or assaults
Well. If you are either Space Marine or Stormcast collector you are signing up to GW's subscription service. Cause that is what those armies are. You get a lot of new shiny stuff all the time but they will trash big parts of them as well. To keep you in their subscription loop.
Space Marines used to be a good beginner army.
Now they are barely resemble their old self.

In the best Palpatine impression, "Yes, let the sarcasm and hate flow through you!"
got some space back in my closet for some extra shoes, thanks gw!
And I thought US prices were rough...
Bonesplitterz player here, so I understand. You can still "counts as" and I think a lot of stuff is coming back in Thunderstrike armor.
No sequitors guys 100%, half of the characters are deleted 100%. Good.
@@AngryPomeranian i would "counts as" as much as possible for SCE. My Bonesplitterz I can't say the same though.

i mainly play AoS Stormcast and Warcry, 8 of the warbands i painted getting retired THEY ARE 3 YEARS OLD MAX???? What is GW thinking? i guess they want me to 3d Print my models in the future
There's a bunch of new stock of some of these models still, and if I hadn't seen the stack of discounted battle tomes I might have bought some without knowing they were cancelled
Yeah at first i saw the article i was like oh okay i thi k stormcast has alot. But that should be fine. Several stormcast players in my area lost like 2/3s of their collection since they're legending like 12 units that many were using multiples of
Imma be playing a lot of my oldcast as proxies for the new ones, that's for sure...
Sanctioned GW or otherwise. I loved the game, I still love my Black Templars and Sisters of Battle. But what I don’t love is GW.
I felt the joy radiating from you sir. Best of luck with whatever comes next.
I just love when GW clears up space for me, I love making room for new projects!
Yeah I've got a large Beasts of Chaos collection... rebased to round bases... it hurts..
They «Age of Sigmar»’ed Age of Sigmar. Reminds me of the old proverb: «if she cheats with you it won’t be long until she cheats on you.»
Weirdly enough I'm actually buying old stormcast stuff, secondhand only. Like the sculpts and I'll just run it as other stuff.
I'd wait until we know what just gets resculpts before getting angry, like the Liberators. This has been incredibly badly communicated, but a lot of these units will just get updates and you will be able to use the old models. Plus sthe stuff you can just proxy. Like your judicators will do fine as vigilors on the table
You'll be allowed to use them for proxies 3 years after launch.
You had me in the first half, not gonna lie.
I get how you feel though. It's crazy what they did.
You should buy some of these beastmen armies that are hitting ebay. It'll be really fun rebasing them back to square bases to be used in the highly valued and lauded old world that GW is definitely putting time and love into
Feel you man, my Stormcast army is gone…. I own an actual warrior chamber and just poof gone…..
Beasts (your old ones) were already going to old world potentially but at least this makes that decision easy….
Fyreslayers Mains sweating, they KNOW they are next.
At least Warrior Chamber units are likely just getting new sculpts, and still playable. The heroes and Sacrosanct is what really hurts.
hopefully they dont all have that squidward nose slab.
I appreciate you see the necessity and wisdom of this, I wish your follow gamers were as mature.

As a Beastmen player... I understand your sizzling anger
I was wondering if I should get a 3d printer anyways, Mars 4 DLP it is I guess
Many nice models. Why bother with bad (GW) rules if you love models and dislike the army lists or rules???
In my book the most important thing is good models. Rules, army lsits, scenarios can be tweaked need be.
Maybe hold onto them for now. Could always use them for OPR
Great video, made me chuckle, even in the light of recent events thank you.
I hope you didn't throw them out, and tried to use them for One Page Rules. That breaks my heart seeing wonderfully painted minis going into the bin.
Keep in mind viewers painted and sent him some of those models he trashed
He's not really throwing them away. He's "doing a bit" to show how disposable GW seems to be treating customers' time and money with moves like the one he's reacting to.
@@bombkangaroo seemed pretty committed to me.

All I saw was an upset man (and rightfully so) throwing his toys in the bin. It's his hobby he can do as he pleases but he seems dead serious in his position against the gw announcement.
Maybe in 10 years, they’ll bring back old AoS as a new game line and we can use our discontinued models again
That's about what I'd have to bin, like a grand in Stormcast. Same with my Khorne army, nearly same size, probably outdated.
I have to admit that it was the Skaven in AOS that got me into warhammer, and I expected this kinda back lash because it's stupid they are going to kill off half the model range's or some entirely so they can print new one's out and go OH HEY BUY our new.. wait where are you going? Like if they where doing a Range refresh and letting the old one's be playable for few more year's Yeah that I think everyone would be alright with but totally dumping half the range then saying where gonna sell you new.. it will come to a head Soon.. Something will knock them down and it will be Glorious.
FFS, are people really incapable of reading? They said - several times I might add - that you can still use your old minis as the new minis. But I guess reading comprehension is less important than whining.
@@fuzesidaniel1701 Sound's like a good plan yes? Two factions, Beasts of Chaos and Bonesplitterz, as well as a number of older Stormcast Eternals from the Sacrosanct and Warrior chambers, will be receiving free-to-download digital battletomes.
At least WF wasn't selling well and was struggling for players. A videogame changed that. But AOS? No excuses.
As a Deepkin player, I find this wildly concerning. The poster boys of AoS are loosing more models than Deepkin have units. It’s insane that they are getting rid of models that new already
I started collecting SCE sacrosanct mid 2ed. Finished my army in 3ed. I have 0 legal models out of a 3000pts army.
With that mindset anyone can play anything with proxies, old editions, OPR, etc. It's organised play that so many love.
I think its time all the player base we just all switch to one page rule.
As a old WFB player, welcome to the club.
But The Old World is out now so don't fret, theres always hope!
Yes, always hope...
I don’t think I could keep up the sarcasm for that long 👏 props
This is why I moved to Conquest the last argument of kings. Miniatures and rules are better.
the only thing sad to me is the loss of evos on dracolines. I love those models, hopefully we get more dracoline cav in the future
Did you throw out your subscriber painted models?
Kitbash. I spread this message to any and all willing to listen. GW will screw you over with really dumb decisions. If you ever think "They can't be that stupid", your answer should always be "Yes they are."
Kitbash your models, call them whatever unit they resemble closest on the roster, and rename them when units are removed/replaced. If your model doesn't resemble anything? Shelve it until a new model line inevitably is released. I made a bunch of Ork lootas back before deffguns were a thing. Now they are kommandoz that simply use space marine guns and wear camo.
Kitbashing is fine from the sprue, but once assembled and painted? GTFOOH.
@@darthkek1953 I can't help you if you're already made and painted. I'm telling you a hard lesson I learned to avoid that.
April fools was 3 days ago GW
You only accounted for the cost of the models. Not the time on the assembly, painting etc
Outrageous!
Don't call an Aussie a champ. See "Mr Inbetween" for why.
Stop whinning: buy more!
He's not whining he's literally grateful for the opportunity. Great guy.
This is why we need a community rule set. Like what happened with Epic/Mordheim/9th Age. Build a rule set that is controlled by the players. That way we can make design decisions based on on playability and fun, and not GW’s bottom line.
Already exists.
Its called onepagerules...
What an inspiration to all of us, stay positive dude👍

It's absolutely bonkers that they decided to cull a range this new, rather than simply consolidating rules. I'll grant that the rules needed to be massively trimmed due to warscroll bloat, but the only concievable reason why they'd go about it this way is as anti-consumer money grubbing. My heart goes out to BoC players, it's honestly tragic to see such a betrayal, after years of being strung along.
I learned after Greenskins, Swifthawk agents, Spire of Dawn, and Phoenix temple not to trust GW.

Doom, its time to get into historicals. I see a bit of grey creeping in, the doors are wide open mate.
The stupidest thing in this situation is the сrazy people who are happy that “the neighbor’s house burned down.”
All Warhammer games are made by the same Games Workshop.
No Warhammer game is immune to bad and unpopular GW's decisions.
That is, tomorrow the same thing will happen to what YOU love!
I mean most of those models can easily be hsed as something the stormcast are keeping.
I’d do that
I have a room full of armies that have been binned since WFB days.
Opportunity to try out one page rules
At least some of those models are just getting new models, they won't just be unplayable. Unlike the poor beastmen and savage orcs... :(
I have to say, thank you for being a bit more honest about this than the general shill channels that always tiptoe around anything GW does.
I think the Lord Relictor is still playable
