    I bought a OMP EVO a few weeks ago..
    I quitted rc heli flying years ago and decided to go flying again. I've learned a lot about rc helis from watching your vids.
    Thank you Fred and greetings from Antwerp!

    @Freddy Cordova - I'm convinced your reasoning for why the swash moves is wrong. I think stabilisation mode is programmed to automatically counteract "translating tendency"... ie. the left drift caused by the tail rotor when a helicopter is hovering still (note, any hovering helicopter will always hover in a mild lean to one side, depending on rotor direction to counteract this effect). The M2's stable mode I think naturally counterbalances this with a built-in amount of right cyclic. Outside of stable mode, the swash reverts back to perfectly level.

      Maybe, maybe not lol I think you have a great observation for sure. In the end the point of this video is to make sure you do not make your adjustment or center servos or pitch with the swash tilted. But thank you for sharing this, I am not always 100 percent correct lol

    • @chris-ip4pk
      @chris-ip4pk 3 роки тому

      That's exactly why it tilts to the right on stability mode,it's correct for it to tilt

      I believe Freddy's whole point of the video is to help with BENCH setup only to include leveling the swashplate and collective pitch range. Great job Freddy!!

    The only way to know for sure is to use a swash leveling tool. Make sure the three servo linkages are 24.2 mm center to center (per the manual) and then use the centering servo flight controller feature along with the swash leveling tool. Adjust the each servo until the swash is level. This should give you the pitch range advertised also. It should be as simple as that. On ebay or amazon you can buy a swash leveling tool for around 8$ - $15. This method works for the OMP M2 because all the servos are on the same geometric plane.

      Leveling tool I use is a Microheli MH-18FX012SL. It fits the OMP M2. (www.microheli.com/tools-accessories/swashplate-levelers)

    FYI, Microheli has a swash leveler for the M2 in three different colors. Just received mine, it also works for a few other small helis. They were the only place I could find one. $17.49 delivered.

    My experience with this Heli.. Out of the box one of my servos was quite substantially out of whack..the Heli was tilting and rolling right. I tried to adjust using both the gyro calibration procedure and also the centre point adjustment on the flight controller. I got hugely frustrated as could not get the servo in correct position at all (similar to issues in the vid with servo moving again once adjusted). In frustration I did a factory reset on the flight controller (press set button 10 times). Soon as reset done all Servos jumped back into line and swashplate is now as perfectly level as needs to be.

      Scott, thank you sooo much!!!! I had really significant right tilt when I switched from self level mode to 3D so I was barely able to trim it. After the factory reset there is no more any changes in servos when I switch between the modes. Really obscure issue with only one person complained about something like that on the rc forum.

    Great video!!!...ive been battling that same issue trying to get the swash plate to level because it wants to pull to the right and i have to go past 50% on my transmitter trim to get it to level so i tried making the adjustments and then when i set the computer it changes...so after watching your video i made sure all of my arms was at 10mm and then i went half throttle and into stunt one and with only my eyeball i was able to set the swashplate and now it only took minimal adjustments on the transmitter to make it fly perfectly level...i have a blade 330 and its great but this m2v2 is so smooth and i love the direct drive and wish there was a 300+ size of this.

      Oxy2-Oxy3-
      Blade 180CFX
      Blade 230S
      Blade BSR
      Blade 300X/CFX
      All use the same swashplate orientation and a 4mm main shaft! Really good info on swashplate level tools and stretching one of these bad boys. I'm going to do a scratch build on a M2 with a 2:30 s main rotor, main blade grips and whatever DFC arms I need to enable a much larger main blade to be used. Then I'll use the round tail boom and just buy a tube with the same diameter to stretch the tail.

      I know this was posted a year ago but sharing for others. I had the 230v2 before getting the M1. I was a bit timid and wasn't sure if I was ready for either the M1 or M2. After my first M1 flight, I knew instantly how much better the OMP products fly. I encourage others not to be afraid to move up from the Blade 230 to either the OMP or Goosky.

    Thanks for trying, but there is a SO much simpler way of checking the swash AND pitch angles... no dismantling needed. Checkout Jonas Wackershauser from AccuRC on setting up the OMP M1 which is almost identical.

    • @33forsaken
      @33forsaken  3 роки тому

      The M2 and M1 setups are identical, and this video was made just for the simple fact of checking things out. Of course you do not need to take it apart, I was doing it just for the video reasons.

    i was led to believe that movement of the swash from norm to idle up 1 is NOT the table being unlevel BUT built in cyclic to aid stabililty mode?

    Is the main shaft vertical when initializing?
    It seems my M1 creeps fwd.
    The skids slope fwd so the main shft would tilt fwd?

    • @33forsaken
      @33forsaken  3 роки тому

      A lot of helis these days have that slanted skid design. Its nothing to worry about because once the Heli is in the air the FBL will see level and the system is just fine. Its becoming a pretty common design.

    Great video. I have a question about servos. I had my radio programed incorrectly and was doing a half spin up and it wouldn't shut off. I solved that, however, the blades smacked into my shin and broke some servo linkages. After fixing, it occurred to me that the internal center vs the external center may not be equal. Is that possible? Do the servos have stoppers at the sides or is that controlled by software? If it is possible, how do I make sure that they are equal? Do I need to worry when I turn it on about the servo grinding against one side and breaking something? The servo component arm at the servo side was removed and reinstalled and I don't know if it stayed centered. Is there some calibration that adjusts it automatically if necessary? Thank you for all the great videos. (I have the m2v2).

    Rule of thumb never fly a heli out of the box. Both my M1 and M2 were not level at all. The end points for pitch were also way off. Ive never bought a RTF heli that was set up properly. Just like guitars.
