I'd say the Nova Lite is aimed to be the budget controller, it even has hall effect. There is a translucent neon color for the Nova, that even looks cooler. The Nova Lite got released by mistake since January for just $15. I bought one, but the store made a mistake and sent me the Cyclone Pro. I can't really complain, the cyclone pro is more expensive.
I'm tempted to grab a neon blue. I also think it looks great; it has a unique flair and would stand out amongst a bunch of controllers. Nice catch on that mistake, and yeah, as I understand it, the Cyclone Pro is more feature-rich. Good for you, and thanks for engaging! :)
I just bought a nova lite t4n lite model. Trying to connect it to iPad for cod mobile. I can get it to connect and work for the iPad itself but won't pick up on cod. It says it should blink blue but can only make it blink green which is andriod and blink red which will connect to the iPad just not work for cod
COD:M is very finicky about which controllers that it accepts on Android, and specifically when talking about BT, only Playstation and Xbox controllers work, so I'm pretty sure the Nova Lite can spoof as an Xbox one, if not mistaken? On that mode, it should work fine.
Thanks for the kind words! I declined the T39 for review when it was offered because I was too busy with backlog at the time but having exchanged with EasySMX in the past, they are a very solid brand as well so I wouldn't be surprised if it holds up nicely to the Nova Lite. Seeing as Windows is supported, it effectively means they use Xbox 360 spoofing which is pretty much the defacto for PC gaming drivers. Linux supports those drivers and so those Steam Inputs. In other words, it is impossible that EasySMX T39 wouldn't work on Linux and SteamOS, despite they not officially stating so. Cheers!
Just got a Nova lite and the analog triggers are not hitting all the way 100%. Right trigger hits about 75 and left trigger hits 91, could this be a manufacturing error?
I would think maybe one got through the net without calibration having been made? There is a combination of buttons that'll let you calibrate your sticks, it should be described in the manual. I would do that and would expect the issue to be fixed. If not, I'd recommend the official GameSir Discord and see if they can potentially assist? Maybe there would be need for a new firmware. Cheers!
The 2C should win in terms of latency but the compatibility is not as extensive. For example, the 2C does not work on the Switch whereas the Nova does and has HD rumble, as well as an XInput mode. Go for the priorities that you have, either way both are very good options!
It does if you are on Switch mode. Any other mode it will not. As for Switch mode, while it will, you will also need to use a third-party app to convert that gyro motion into something else, right stick, left stick, mouse, etc. There's this software called Handheld Companion that could help you doing that fairly easily. Cheers!
Hey Klef! What is the experience when using it for Android gaming? I'm considering this with a phone holder as it's one of the rarer no clicky buttons. Coming from the Gamesir X2s, the clicky shoulders drive me crazy! Cheers man!
They both work fine for Android, since Google added full controller support API, most to not say all of these third party controllers simply work and you're actually better off using the Xbox mode that the Nova Lite has, and the Switch mode that the Nova HD has. They also both have an Android HID mode if ever for even more compatibility.
Make sure you connect in X-Input mode and not Switch mode and you have to be wired. For the modes, look in the manual, I'm not sure if it's Home + X or whichever face button but you have to power it while holding the right face button. Cheers!
The consensus would be, if you want budget above all else mainly for PC? Go Nova Lite. If you want a Switch controller first, with HD rumble, go Nova. If you want to spend a bit more to get a bit more features for a PC centric controller, go T4 Pro. For all intents and purposes, the T4 Pro is a repackaged EasySMX Bayard 9124 but more stylish, all three a great products that you can't really go wrong with.
Thanks for the advice. My requirement was for PC. Update: Tried the T4 Pro, I liked the build, lighting and features of the Pro (it even includes a phone holder, cool!). However as a casual gamer, I found the underside back buttons unergonomic and had to hold in a weird position to avoid accidentally pressing them. It was a minor annoyance but happening all the time. I returned the T4 Pro and got the Nova Lite. It doesn't have back buttons underneath so I can hold it quite comfortably, no accidental clicks. Also when I connect it with my PC, the Nova Lite gets recognised as Xbox controller which T4Pro didn't. The buttons felt slightly better on the Nova Lite and the connection seemed faster as well. And it comes with a case. I kinda miss the RGB lights but overall I'm very happy with Nova Lite :) P.S: Update the Nova Lite's firmware to v4200 for seamless connection with PC.
Yeah, there's low-frequency haptic motors, basically like subwoofer emitting low freq wave so they vibrate. Clever stuff really. The GBA Metroid Pinball cartridged used that tech, and as far as I know, the first implementation known in gaming. Phones haptics use that thing, same goes with joycons and Switch Pro Controller and Dualsense as you know.
They are not, the best performance comes from using wired but you still get better using dongle vs bluetooth, if I recall, going off the top of my head.
@@mrpeter8236 I’m not at home to retest at the moment but without having an exact answer, I would still suggest to buy as « wired mandatory » if you are after performance and efficiency. Dongle and Bluetooth are decent, for « comfort ». If input latency is what you’re after, and are betting on these phenomenal controllers, go wired. Cheers!
There are quite a few options but these two are really great value too. It would be hard to tell you where to start but I do have a "buying guide" video on my channel, I need to update it shortly but until then, it's a great place to start.
Hey, im not gaming that much lately but I do want a controller with gyro that I can use to play some emulated games on PC. Would the nova be good for that? I see the nova works on pc with gyro via bluetooth to ns pro mode, but it was i need steam to play pc games, i don't want to use steam tho. Can i just use it directly with an emulator and would gyro work then? Or any alternative cheap budget controller. Love your stuff, my main to channel for controllers/mobile telescopic controllers
Ahh thanks so much for the kind words! The Nova would be able to achieve what you wish however, it's starting to show it's age (which is absurd to say because it's not that old) but at the pace that this market is moving, it sort of is. Keep in mind that the Nova does not have a PS Mode so while gyro will work, you will most likely have to make sacrifices to get that support, whereas a controller that can spoof as PS mode would retain a higher fidelity of features on PC. I hope this helps!
It can! So just to be sure, this controller will not work on an actual Xbox console but I believe you mean as X-Input (Xbox mode) and yes, you can use it wirelessly in X-Input mode and triggers will be analog and be on the Z-Axis (Brake/Throttle). You can do that through bluetooth, through dongle or through wired. I hope this answers your question! :)
The Nova Lite is such a great product to be honest. It's about to be featured again in approximately one week for this controller match up video I have been working on. It's got so much going for it and at so little price. Cheers!
I'm sorry to say I have no point of comparison for any Mobapad product, it's been recommended a few times, I tried reaching them out but I have not heard back from the "reach us" solution on their website.
Same exact layout same exact etched handles same sticks the chitu feels more premium but by a tiny amount the nova has the more forceful HD rumble and fixes the weak pro controller hd feel that I didn't like it also has a far less travel on the triggers the chitu has a almost analog travel
Wow! I'm so shocked that this controller remains this affordable, no lie, I thought it was going to be a marketing scheme and that they would just increase the price a month after launch but nope... GameSir are really putting their name out there in the most positive way.
So in a nutshell, think of the T4 Cyclone Pro as the actual "Pro" version of the Nova Lite. As addressed in the video, the Nova is just a different DNA altogether whereas the Nova Lite and the T4 Cyclone Pro feel more alike. With that said, the T4 Cyclone Pro is superior in just about every way and feels about on-par in quality. That should speak to just how much quality the Nova Lite feels like. It just is barebone in terms of "Pro" features. Last, I'd say that if the extra features of the T4 Cyclone Pro don't appeal to you (hall effect triggers, back paddles, trigger rumble, higher polling rate) then go with the Nova Lite. If the extra features are things you look forward to, go with the T4 Cyclone Pro. I hope this helps! :)
The Nova is not yet available I think, or it might be for pre-order on GameSir's direct site but it is not available on Amazon, that I can say for sure.
@@eternalrhythmmusic Yes you can, as both a Switch controller or an Xbox controller. When on Switch mode, gyro can be used and the face button layout matches Nintendo.
I think Nova Lite still is slightly better for PC usage, it comes with the dongle, it has analog triggers. But personally, out of the two, I have a slight preference for Nova despite having non-analog triggers. The HD rumble is just so good and it has extra paddles too!
@@GameTechTalk thanks for answer, i have a gamesir t4 kaleid and its been good but i notice when With the sticks reach the edges Hard and broke and that's why i wanted to change it but it seems a shame because i don't want to do it do you know if there is any solution to this?
Think of the games you play the most and if having analog triggers is mandatory, go Nova Lite. If it isn't and you'd rather have a more immersive HD rumble experience, go Nova. That's probably a great place to start to help you determine what the best pick for you is. I hope this helps! :)
Great video! However, how's the input lag while playing with the Nova on Switch? I'm very interested in buying this but also pretty scared of getting that kind of annoying lag when playing stuff wirelessly on my Switch.
Thanks! I've played a few games since and personally I see no difference between the Nova and Switch Pro controller. That may vary based off of potential radio interference in your vicinity but the odds are quite unlikely this would happen, if not impossible. Cheers!
There are ways to bring other controllers over but that takes an adapter to convert and from what I understand, they are not cheap. Would be great if the controller could do it by default for sure!
Unfortunately, I don't have an Android TV that allows for any USB inputs. I believe Android TV supports DInput, and in that sense, the "Android" mode on the controller should work. With that said, the extent to how much it will, and if fully, is something I wouldn't be able to answer at the moment, sorry.
I mainly want a controller to play Rocket League, anyways is the Nova Lite better than a PS4 controller? Excuse me for my little knowledge, but your opinion will matter a lot (am a casual player by the way) And yes one more thing, which controller from the ones I mentioned with a better polling rate? Thank you in advance, your vids are very informative and amazing
Well, depending on where you play, the Dualshock 4 is a very very good controller despite it being a little older. It was a step ahead with it's polling rate even then. It can also be overclocked to do 1000hz. With that said, overclocking is not a flawless solution and in that regard, the Nova Lite does have a better "flat" performance versus the Dualshock 4 from Sony. So assuming you are playing on PC, and assuming that you will play wired, the Nova Lite is a better solution for responsiveness. Keep in mind the Nova Lite does not work natively on PS4. It does not have six-axis gyro, no controller speaker, and no track pad either. In my humble and honest opinion, the Nova Lite will also be better because it has asymmetrical sticks, I don't know that there are studies on the subject, it's just my logic coming into play but hear me out. I like both styles but when it comes to doing heavy movement and camera work (like it is in Rocket League), I find asymmetrical helps the brain hemispheres not get locked into synchronous physical movements... if that makes sense. Sorry for the wall of text, I hope this helps! :)
Thank you a lot for your thorough opinion, it matters a lot to me, and yes I'll be using on PC, that's great info you just gave me, I just bought the Nova Lite, you made me do a confident decision, you are the man, and I wish you get millions of subs for your amazing hard work bro
@@Omar-Shaath Wow, just wow! Thank you so much for your trust and your kind words. Hi, big respect for your work you do very great videos ! After watch it i hesitate between nova lite and bayard 9124, i ve got such big hands, can you advice me please ?
This is a TOUGH pick, and look, my best recommendation for you is to keep your eyes peeled, in 2 to 3 days, I'll have a video that matches up 20 controllers in sort of a buying guide based off of data. The two controllers you named have more than meets the eye so it's a hard pick to be honest. In a nutshell, if features and ergonomics are your priority, go EasySMX. If speed and value is, go Nova Lite. Cheers!
I'd say they are quite different for the most part. The G7 SE is an Xbox controller and it does have more features. Because I think GameSir's quality to be quite consistent in the last year or two, I'd say the G7 SE is most likely a better product, but also geared for a completely different audience and sets of wants as well. I hope this makes sense!
@@GameTechTalk I see, I was looking between the kaleid, g7 se, cyclone pro and the 8bitdo ultimate with hall sticks, the kaleid seemed pretty complete but I didn't like the appearance, still doing some more research haha. Thanks
I'm working on a video that pit together 20 controllers approximately, but it won't be coming out soon. I already started gathering data mind you, quick tip, don't sleep on the X10 Mechanic from EasySMX, that controller is far superior than I originally thought. But as far as value goes, the Nova Lite is just unbeatable and it's pretty solid overall, if just not "feature heavy".@@rx0-rx
The gaming hardware accessory world has been blooming like crazy lately and by blooming I mean superior product just keeps coming. Hopefully, this doesn't cause too much FOMO in people but I don't recall seeing such a persistently growing era like the one we are in.
Unfortunately, it cannot. It works for PC, Switch, Android, SteamOS, iOS and MacOS. Many are voicing there desires for an Xbox controller in their discord, let's hope they work on that but I do think that licensing would be quite expensive so I'd expect a price jump if ever, and many features would have to go like Switch support.
Thanks Majin! Lots of people have asked my opinion about the T39 and I was originally offered to review them but I declined at the time. I reached out to EasySMX to see if they are still looking for coverage, if they are, I'll pin it against these for sure. Cheers!
Shocking really. I wonder if it was designed as a loss leader to get people familiar with the brand. Genius if so cause it’s been talked about very positively.
It can be that cheap because controllers are actually not that expensive to create it’s like between $5-$12 to manufacture. We are over paying for these controllers
I get what you are saying so think of it this way, out of all the inexpensive controllers that cost very little to manufacture (and usually are super cheap)? I have never seen one that is of such quality as these two ones. I've tried many and to me, a 20$ controller feels like a 20$ controller with the exception of EasySMX. I assure you, it's good stuff, cheers!
When I review stuff, I hate having dust, and I shoot in the basement of a very old house so there is dust coming out the walls like it's impossible to ever get rid of it. The glove sometimes is there because it makes it easy to wipe dust during filming but also to prevent finger smudges. Oh and yes, I'm insane. Thanks for watching!
I'd say so yes. Nova Lite still is awesome however. As for Nova, it's great but a bit "one trick pony" with it's heavy Switch-centric DNA. I love it though!
Depends on what standard you uphold. If you usually play with a Dualsense Edge and buy a Nova Lite, I can understand why it would gather dust, as an example. But what is waste for you, could be treasure to somebody else, especially when the product is genuinely good. I think the Nova Lite is a phenomenal product for the price point that it sets, but I found better. Video coming out shortly!
@@rorylennon3338 There is a calibration shortcut, it should be in the manual. Can't remember exactly but basically, you hold a couple buttons, it'll kick the controller in calibrating mode, you do the thing and you should be set from there.

They also both have an Android HID mode if ever for even more compatibility.
How can I use the 500hz polling rate support on the Nova version for pc?
Make sure you connect in X-Input mode and not Switch mode and you have to be wired. For the modes, look in the manual, I'm not sure if it's Home + X or whichever face button but you have to power it while holding the right face button. Cheers!
Nova/Nova Lite or T4 Pro which one do you recommend? Both almost costs the same in my area. Pls suggest
I kinda miss the RGB lights but overall I'm very happy with Nova Lite :)
P.S: Update the Nova Lite's firmware to v4200 for seamless connection with PC.
@@hayazhafiz Glad you found your solution! Cheers
The rumble motors are like the ones in the duelsense controller.
Are the latency, stability and polling rate the same in nova lite through wire and 2.4ghz dongle?
Can i set 500hz through dongle?
Thanks.
They are not, the best performance comes from using wired but you still get better using dongle vs bluetooth, if I recall, going off the top of my head.
@@GameTechTalkI heard Bluetooth was better than the dongle?
@@mrpeter8236 I’m not at home to retest at the moment but without having an exact answer, I would still suggest to buy as « wired mandatory » if you are after performance and efficiency. Dongle and Bluetooth are decent, for « comfort ». If input latency is what you’re after, and are betting on these phenomenal controllers, go wired. Cheers!
im wondering is there any better controller for a little more money?
There are quite a few options but these two are really great value too. It would be hard to tell you where to start but I do have a "buying guide" video on my channel, I need to update it shortly but until then, it's a great place to start.
@@GameTechTalk thanks
In my country, the Nova sells for $20 while the Nova Lite goes for $13. Insane value
Very much so!! Wow :O
what country
@@Night_rider00 somewhere in Southeast Asia. Poor country
Will the Nova Lite be recognized as an Xbox 360 controller if connected to PC?
It will yes, so X-input
Between Gamesir Nova Lite or 8bitdo ultimate 2C, what its better? Thanks
I like Nova Lite better but if you favor latency above all else, the 2C wins in that department.
@@GameTechTalk imma keep looking, see if i find anything better in this price range. Thanks, appreciate it 🙏
Since the nova lite comes with a dongle, can it be used as in xbox mode with the analog triggers wirelessly on pc
Can you recommend a controller for pc and LG tv at the same time?
The Nova Lite is such a great product to be honest. It's about to be featured again in approximately one week for this controller match up video I have been working on. It's got so much going for it and at so little price. Cheers!
How does the Nova compates to the Mobapad Chitu?
I'm sorry to say I have no point of comparison for any Mobapad product, it's been recommended a few times, I tried reaching them out but I have not heard back from the "reach us" solution on their website.
Same exact layout same exact etched handles same sticks the chitu feels more premium but by a tiny amount the nova has the more forceful HD rumble and fixes the weak pro controller hd feel that I didn't like it also has a far less travel on the triggers the chitu has a almost analog travel
Bought mine as low as $11 (converted) in my country because of vouchers and coins. I had the midnight purple Nova Light, it's cool 👍
Wow! I'm so shocked that this controller remains this affordable, no lie, I thought it was going to be a marketing scheme and that they would just increase the price a month after launch but nope... GameSir are really putting their name out there in the most positive way.
How do you compare them against t4 cyclone pro?
@@GameTechTalk
All I want is a decent gamepad that works with PC mainly also works with phone (iOS & android).
What would recommend me?
Yo nice video , just a question does it need the dongle to connect to switch?
It does not, bluetooth will get that sorted for you. The dongle is more for PC connection.
@@GameTechTalk thank you
the intro is Epic XD
that white anti sweat glove is neat
link ?
The Nova is not yet available I think, or it might be for pre-order on GameSir's direct site but it is not available on Amazon, that I can say for sure.
Does the lite version have motion controls? Or is it only the other one?
The Lite does not have gyro, it really is the basic most it can be, while being incredibly outstanding quality.
@@GameTechTalk Can I use the nova on PC?
@@eternalrhythmmusic Yes you can, as both a Switch controller or an Xbox controller. When on Switch mode, gyro can be used and the face button layout matches Nintendo.
@@GameTechTalk Thank you so much!! 🙏🏽
who is best for pc gaming? what about 250 hz 500 hz and 1000hz? i didnt heart about that sorry for my bad english
in aliexpress they almost the same price
I think Nova Lite still is slightly better for PC usage, it comes with the dongle, it has analog triggers. But personally, out of the two, I have a slight preference for Nova despite having non-analog triggers. The HD rumble is just so good and it has extra paddles too!
@@GameTechTalk thanks for answer, i have a gamesir t4 kaleid and its been good but i notice when With the sticks reach the edges Hard and broke and that's why i wanted to change it but it seems a shame because i don't want to do it do you know if there is any solution to this?
Amazing review both controllers are great idk which one to get
Think of the games you play the most and if having analog triggers is mandatory, go Nova Lite. If it isn't and you'd rather have a more immersive HD rumble experience, go Nova. That's probably a great place to start to help you determine what the best pick for you is. I hope this helps! :)
@@GameTechTalkthx
@@GameTechTalkI use to have the 8bitdo pro 2 in all black it was amazing and for my switch now I have a black nitrodeck
Cheers!
@@GameTechTalk that is so good and relieving to see, thank you!
Great video!!!
Thank you!! Glad you liked it 😊
the most unfortunate thing is the Nova one didnt support for xbox
There are ways to bring other controllers over but that takes an adapter to convert and from what I understand, they are not cheap. Would be great if the controller could do it by default for sure!
Hey, great video. Do you know if the Nova lite works on Android TV via dongle?
Unfortunately, I don't have an Android TV that allows for any USB inputs. I believe Android TV supports DInput, and in that sense, the "Android" mode on the controller should work. With that said, the extent to how much it will, and if fully, is something I wouldn't be able to answer at the moment, sorry.
Compatible with ps4 ?
They are not unfortunately. Maybe with an adapter? That said, I wouldn't know in what direction to point for that.
in my area its only sell at 14$ thats freaking awesome!!!
WOW!! That's quite a deal!
Thanks!🎉
I mainly want a controller to play Rocket League, anyways is the Nova Lite better than a PS4 controller? Excuse me for my little knowledge, but your opinion will matter a lot (am a casual player by the way)
And yes one more thing, which controller from the ones I mentioned with a better polling rate?
If I could but one thing, I'd love for you to come back to this comment and to let me know how you feel about the controller when you do get it. I hope it meets your expectations and that you have a truckload of fun gaming with it. Cheers!
Cheers!
@@GameTechTalk thank you for your response, i will wait your video ;), cheers
Are these better than the G7 SE?
@@GameTechTalk Interesting I'll look into that one
All matte plastic... yyyeeessss. The less glossy plastic I see, the happier I am. First the new controllers from EasySMX, and now these. Awesome.
The gaming hardware accessory world has been blooming like crazy lately and by blooming I mean superior product just keeps coming. Hopefully, this doesn't cause too much FOMO in people but I don't recall seeing such a persistently growing era like the one we are in.
Can this be used on xbox
Unfortunately, it cannot. It works for PC, Switch, Android, SteamOS, iOS and MacOS. Many are voicing there desires for an Xbox controller in their discord, let's hope they work on that but I do think that licensing would be quite expensive so I'd expect a price jump if ever, and many features would have to go like Switch support.
Both pads lack analog triggers?
The Nova regular have "non-analog" triggers whereas the Nova Lite has analog triggers. Cheers!
These seem like such a great bargain! Glad you showcased these as I love seeing *affordable* great controllers
Thanks Majin! Lots of people have asked my opinion about the T39 and I was originally offered to review them but I declined at the time. I reached out to EasySMX to see if they are still looking for coverage, if they are, I'll pin it against these for sure. Cheers!
In Asia its selling for $12 including sales. I just ordered one. No way they are making a profit on these....
Shocking really. I wonder if it was designed as a loss leader to get people familiar with the brand. Genius if so cause it’s been talked about very positively.
You got the MOJO
I try! 🕺
Why the one glove? Are you insane?
When I review stuff, I hate having dust, and I shoot in the basement of a very old house so there is dust coming out the walls like it's impossible to ever get rid of it. The glove sometimes is there because it makes it easy to wipe dust during filming but also to prevent finger smudges.
Oh and yes, I'm insane. Thanks for watching!
G7 better?No SE.
I'd say so yes. Nova Lite still is awesome however. As for Nova, it's great but a bit "one trick pony" with it's heavy Switch-centric DNA. I love it though!
Lets goooo
Hellz yeaahhhhhh!!
Bought a nova lite,waste of money-just saying
