Thanks for another great video. The stretch in this video use to be some fun areas to enjoy, but that was at least a few decades ago. I feel for those who didn't get out in time, now darn near trapped by developments and grid-lock.

@@backwatersandbackroads The abandoned bridge after the toll bridge you mentioned. Both bridges go from the mainland to Gasparilla Island. There was a dock for loading phosphate on to ships at the south end of the Island at Boca Grande pass. Like most of the places you've travel through along the Florida coast it was a much quieter and less populated place when we we were frequent visitors (by boat) in the 70's.
I'm from Florida. When you are in the ICW, I would be dragging an artificial hard bait that doesn't dive very deep. Yo-Zuri baits work well. No telling what you could catch. We always have a couple of rods rigged that we put out in all the no wake zones. Can be very productive. Enjoying the videos and new subscriber.
3 to 4 mph would probably be better, but I would still have it in the water. You could cast to the bank, especially in the mouth of all the little feeder creeks, if you were close enough as you passed by.
I bet you're across Okeechobee lake by now and heading down Saint Lucie river which is beautiful and deep. It's our Amazon river. Then I assume you'll be coming up my way on Indian River. We'd love to meet you.
Love your videos. Can't wait for the next one. Wanted to point out one thing I saw the other day that could get you a ticket. You need to install your kill switch on your dingy motor and attach it to your wrist. FWC will write you a ticket for not having your kill switch attached to you person while motoring. I know, I got stopped in a microskiff and luckily just got a warning.
I would get a emotional support designation for a wavey. After all, that’s what he does. Cost almost nothing and you can bring him anywhere with you, including restaurants, national parks, and just about everywhere.
Its crazy how far from land it can be shallow. I knew about the shallows in the ICW but only realized recently after looking at navionics that there's also 2 foot depths over 3 miles off shore of hilton head 🤯
I’m just the opposite. I can’t stand the cold. It’s a good thing we don’t all like the same thing or we might all end up crammed in the same region , although it seems that a lot of people are moving in to Florida. I just want to add how much I enjoy your channel and the trips you go on. I’m mostly a boat type of person but it’s all great!
Yeah ide rather be in cool weather. Florida native but have been dreaming about property in the high elevation areas out west for years. Look up leadville Colorado weather in August. Has to be the coolest place in America. Its the highest town in the usa

Okeechobee is such a cool lake. Second largest in the country and shallow as heck. Oh and like 20,000 alligators. Good thing wavey doesn’t like the water 😅

Watching Wavey Gravey going back and forth on the forward deck reminded me of one time we had dolphins around our boat. Our dog must of been able to hear their dolphin sounds as he always knew when they were near. One time a couple of them hung back by our cockpit, rather than cavorting in the bow wake, and would swim under our boat and come up on the other side of the cockpit. So our dog, Mate, would dash back and forth across the cockpit to see them. It was quite a game that lasted for several minutes. When we were looking over the side, one of the dolphin rolled on it side to get a better look at us! Watching your videos brings back all kinds of memories for us, like that one. Thank you! p.s. Have you noticed if Wavey knows if dolphins are around before you even spot them?

The difference between being cold or being too hot is….once you’re really cold it takes quite awhile to warm up. But if I get too hot,a few minutes in the AC and I’m good.
Glad you have those nice water shoes..my feet are like armadillo’s. Lol…I have been working on getting them more pretty..but it really sucks to slice your foot or feet open (I remember once helping push a stuck boat out not realizing it was a dual engine boat and stepping on a prop and slicing my foot, it was horrible)

I do plan on (trying) to make a total cost video. To do it right, I'll really have to sit down and study it. I can roughly tell you it was around 1k-1500k a month. Gas. Food. Odds and ends. Cheap by loop standards

I’m prejudice, lol love your channel and enjoy what you do, my friend.
We will finish the loop. The plan is to leave lake Superior early September 2025 (a year from now) and go east and down, through all the places you mentioned. It's just too hot down south! Ans we would be rushed if we tried to do it all this year. It will happen, and better because we broke it in two parts.

It's like an easy bake oven in the summer. It followed us home for a day. 93 yesterday! Yikes! I guess that's normal tempts for down south.

The old bridge is actually a railroad trestle from when they used to move phosphate from the Peace River to barges on the Gulf of Mexico.

I stepped on a shell and sliced my foot deep a couple years ago. I never go barefoot now.

Hi Daniel, we burn approx 1 gallon per hour at hull speed, which is around 5 mph. Not bad for a heavy flat bottomed boat.
