One of the finest albums cut. Bob’s band had it all: Stellar soloists and driving rhythm topped off with a leader who knew how to arrange and build momentum. I was very fortunate to have attended his Concerts By The Sea recording. Magical gig. Thanks for posting this!
Seriously, he swings so hard, he is up their with Mel Lewis in my book. I had to try to play drums on this arrangement in a high school jazz band... Talk about feeling inadequate!
@@rmo52 Trained at LACC. Great pianist as well who was Julie Andrews' accompanist. This was a sort of homage to his home base, Cameo's jazz club in the valley! Sorry to see hiim go.
What can be said about Bob and this tremendous group of musicians? Fantastic composition and arrangement. Beautiful execution. Superb solos by Bob Cooper, Steve Huffstetter and Nick Ceroli. ❤
!st time listening to this and the ending line up with me getting confirmation that I'm getting 600$ as a cost help from the goverment (not US) so it was awesome.

One of the greatest big band compositions/ arrangements ever!
ABSOLUTELY AGREE!!!
Nick Ceroli's drumming on the shout chorus is one of my favourite moments in all recorded jazz that I have heard. RIP
Me too!!!
Nick was one of the best in the business. Having known Nick...I can tell you that he was also one of the nicest in the business as well!!

@@Gemashke Couldn't agree with you more. Nick was a phenomenal drummer and so beloved..
Also the lead trumpet playing, either Rick Baptist or Buddy Childers…
Bob Florence was unique. His arrangements sounds like velvet. Wonderful. You can listen to his Ltd. Edition recordings for hours without being tired.
And it sounds like different arrangers did the different tunes. He was a genius, and a very nice guy.

THIS is why music can move me like few things can!
Masterpiece.

Thanks for posting! One of my favorite arrangements that, sadly, is hard to find on cd.
One of my favorite songs!
wish i could’ve seen this band live
Yeah, it was very exciting!
I wish someone would upload this in such a way I could get the volume higher !
