Basketball is not even respected in our country, the only thing people care about is cricket. Peopme walk in between the Basketball court during matches and they dont even care, if the same is done in a cricket match they get pissed off. People play cricket in the Basketball courts in the public and when a bballer comes there with respect we are taken as light and ignored. They ask questions why we dont play somewhere else.

I think volleyball has replaced basketball as a popular sport. It's easier to understand, can be compared to tennis and badminton and is ideal for dirt and grass surfaces. You cannot play basketball unless you have hard, even surfaces which means that colliding or slipping can lead to more pain. Volleyball is perhaps the most popular American sport in India.
I remember during olympics channels didn't cover ind matches which were small.... I had to watch scorecard through website😂....especially shooting and golf
