Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser (SPD) has banned the right-wing extremist "COMPACT-Magazin GmbH" and "CONSPECT FILM GmbH". The right-wing extremist "COMPACT-Magazin" is a central mouthpiece of the right-wing extremist scene. "It incites in an unspeakable way against Jews, against people with a migration background and against our parliamentary democracy," the minister explained on Tuesday morning in Berlin. According to the ministry, the legal basis is the law on associations, according to which companies that oppose the free democratic basic order can also be banned.
Since the early hours of the morning, forces in Brandenburg, Hesse, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt have been searching the properties of these organizations and the homes of leading players, management and major shareholders in order to confiscate assets and other evidence, the Interior Ministry said. The ban prohibits any continuation of previous activities. Violations are criminal offenses.
"The ban shows that we are also taking action against the intellectual arsonists who are stirring up a climate of hatred and violence against refugees and migrants and who want to overthrow our democratic state," explained the minister. "Our message is very clear: We will not allow ethnic definitions of who belongs to Germany and who does not. Our constitutional state protects all those who are attacked because of their faith, their origins, their skin color or because of their democratic stance."
"COMPACT-Magazin GmbH" is managed by the right-wing extremist Jürgen Elsässer. According to the ministry, the main products of the multimedia company are the monthly "COMPACT-Magazin" with a circulation of 40,000 copies and the online video channel "COMPACT-TV". In addition, "COMPACT-Magazin GmbH" is present in numerous social media and operates an online shop through which, in addition to its own printed products, books, audio books, CDs and DVDs as well as merchandise items such as clothing, posters, stickers, cups and medals are sold.
The ministry added that there is a risk that consumers will be incited by the publications, which also openly propagate the overthrow of the political order, and encouraged to act against the constitutional order. The central role of "COMPACT-Magazin GmbH" lies in the popularization and widespread dissemination of the right-wing extremist ideology of the "New Right".
"COMPACT-Magazin GmbH" is also a key player in the networking of the "New Right". The association has close ties to the right-wing extremist "Identitarian Movement" (IB) and the right-wing extremist party spectrum.
