I don't think bleach sucked, but i agree with you. It might be down to how nirvana experimented alot. When i think of L7, i think Ramones, by that i mean they have a distinct sound you expect from their songs. Whereas Nirvana had alot of variety. L7 were one of (if not) the best band to come out of the 90's scene.
