  • Writing on Easter eggs, from simple designs to the elaborate Ukrainian Pysanky, is done with a wax writing instrument called the Kistka. This is a copper foil funnel that is heated and filled with bee's wax. The Kistka was used for hundreds of years to decorate eggs for protection and good luck. I will show you how my Grandmother's were made.

Great job. I like the idea of making them out of copper pipe. I have lots of small pieces around. Take care my friend.

Making pysanky is a very nice craft. It's amazing to see the different designs that are done. In the town of Vegreville, Alberta, in Canada, they have the world's largest pysanky. It's around 50 years old. The arts and the crafts that the early Ukrainan pioneers to Canada and America are very fascinating, and it's good that they are being preserved. Thanks for sharing this. Those are nice looking pysanky. Cheers, Donald! ✌️🇺🇦
