I’d certainly be getting the regular Overtrail, but it’s a good 70k outside my budget. I’m lucky I could buy my 2011.

Great video as always. I do wish you would have addressed why Lexus is not offering a 7 seat option on the Overtrail+
they are playing into the "lone wulf" overlanding fantasy. It's annoying and a mistake as many -want- need that 3rd row... simply fold it down when not needed...
@LexusGX460-OFF-ROAD I personally believe it has something to do with the packaging. Models with E KDSS such as gx overtrail and the lc300 gr sport both have deleted third rows. additionally, Australian spec sahara zx has rear LSD and that to has third row delete.
Looking forward to pick up another gx460 when they start trading for 550s
Yeah sucks for those of us who want a 3rd row Overtrail.. Understandably we would be such a small percentage that it probably doesn't make sense for that option.. Still sucks

I find it odd that the tight legroom of the second row isn’t brought up more. With all the cargo space not sure why the second row seats weren’t moved back a couple inches.

OT+ for me because I need ML sound, otherwise OT would be just fine. Now im thinking if i need the HUD or not. Extra $1k to the already high price🤔

The last time I bought an SUV thinking that I would hardly ever go off-road I made a HUMONGOUS mistake, and ended up paying a ginormous price for my oversight. Next time, I’ll buy the Overtrail+ trim and won’t double guess myself. Unless you happen to be a soccer mom through and through, you’d never know when you need those off-road capabilities. As far as I’m concerned, the Lexus GX 550 Overtrail+ is the absolute best all-purpose SUV on the market, and for a reasonably accessible price.
I would really like to get the luxury plus but I want all the off-road stuff so I’ll probably go with the over trail plus if that makes any sense… Lol❤ love your videos. They’re really informative. Appreciate you.
I wish the Over Trail had more features. They kinda force you to get the plus for the other bells and whistles. But I get it, the base model Over Trail will be truly for the off-roaders.
More than likely I'd get the OT+ probably without a moon roof ( I have moon roofs on my 17 Corolla and 2023 Sequoia and barely even open the shade )
I have to have the memory seating and kick sensor for the lift gate. Am I an off-roader? Nope is it nice to have absolutely. Can I get the premium+ or luxury and be extremely happy of course. Guess I'll see in a month or so when the order system opens up for me
I like the luxury, but prefer the 18” rims for more of a comfortable ride.
The GX line up is blowing up! Love the attention the GX line is getting! I hope down the road they add a 3rd row option on the overtrail options. Can’t wait to see these driving around in the coming up year.
And make it 205 inches long to give it more cargo room when the third seat is up
I call horse shit. Toyota didn’t decrease the price on GX, they kept the price and removed all the bells and whistles and created another trim at higher prices.
The only thing I want to know can I fit the overtrail fat tires in the premium model. If so I’m good to go with the looks and 3rd row seatings. This will be my first Lexus December 2024. I’m gonna make it fit for sure 🤗
The thing about trims is, even if you get the cheapest GX, it’s still a GX! You won’t miss what you don’t have.

Totally agree . Other point is if ur not off roading a lot , having off road options can have more problems with maintenance coz ur not using them . I have land cruiseer 2012 that im using only in the the city . I got problems with the L4 as am not using it a lot .
Buttom line having more options u r not using can cause more problems u dont want .

Here in Australia the LC300 GXL and VX are still offroad work horses to some extent. Will the GX550 Luxury still have some modest off-road capability?

Going for Overtrail +, but may get the Hybrid if it has Overtrail features; I just hope they aren't too scarce or have a year long waiting list or something. First time buying a car new

So, how many “on road use” SUVs does Lexus need to sell? I see the RX and the TX in the lineup already. So, the “on road use” GX is the “pretend” off-roader, while the “real” off-roader with some features like the mark Levinson sound system costs 77k AT LEAST. This, when the ‘23 GX had plenty of off road features STANDARD, starting in the mid 50s and well equipped for approx 60k. Yup, sure sounds like an upgrade to me.
overtrail + all day and it will be perfect for everything. Less money than the Range Rover sport for $95k
I’m still holding out for a “Luxury Overtrail+” trim because I want all the off road goodies plus I want the luxuries of the luxury trim like the panoramic moonroof and upgraded leather.
It’s disappointing that the Luxury trim doesn’t offer E-KDSS and crawl control/MTS, and the Overtrail doesn’t offer a third row and a panoramic moonroof.
I’m really happy with my GX 460, so I’ll be keeping it for a while but hopefully Lexus will offer a trim with the off road goodies plus the third row and other luxury amenities.
Unfortunately, what makes me happy is having the off-road goodies so I can take my family, and my kids friends on off-road adventures... the absence of a 3rd row option for the Overtrail models is pretty lame.

@@LexusGX460-OFF-ROAD The good news is, there are tons of GX460's on lots right now that will be getting steeper and steeper discounts as the weeks pass! We will probably pull the trigger on an atomic silver luxury with the off-road package and red leather once I find one for a proper deal!
Overtrail. However, I doubt I'll see one for a while with the insane markup that will occur for through to 2026. I figure they won't make as many of them.
My dealer is selling one for me at msrp. There’s some dealers that don’t do markups. Rare but worth looking into

@@keeblord7383 Just called my local (huge) dealer. Apparently they have been taking orders since March. They don't do markups and have a bunch of complimentary stuff. So I am now in line for Fall 2024 with my preferences.
Great video as usual but I wish you would tell us what your version of off-road is as far as getting the over trail. Here in the north east I guess there’s opportunities to climb over rocks it’s just not my thing but off-road beach trail etc. might be off Roading light. Thanks for reading.

Is the Overtrail / Overtrail plus the only one that gets access to ATRAC? Do the other models have 4 low?
You can off road pretty decent with 4 low and ATRAC. You don’t “need” eKDSS or turn assist or locking rear. To go far off road or in the heavy stuff sure the more tools the better. But I do wonder if the “regular” GX550 can hold its own off road.

Really wondering what the difference of ride quality will be between Luxury AVS system and Overtrail +. Also do you think the overtrail + trim will hold value better than the luxury?

I agree with Toyota/Lexus for the most part but I think KDSS (eKDSS) has enough on road benefits to where it should be available on more if not all trims.

100% agree!!!! Honestly all the hype has not convinced me that they are doing this in favor of the consumer. I think people who want and can buy a GX whether the 460 or new 550 are looking for goodies that they don't find on other SUV's. The KDSS is one of them, DAC another , the monitor ( my 22 Blackline doesn't have it) . They already had many things lacking on the GX 460 and now they put out the new 550 but I feel it's incomplete. Digital rear view camera should be standard across the line (it's a luxury SUV!!!), KDSS also should be standard, third row seat ALSO standard. I'm not sure but is the locking rear diff still on all the trims? or just on the Overtrail? On top of that the V6 turbo has had it's fair share of challenges on some of the new trucks so I would not feel inclined to jump on the new GX 550 so quickly. I'll wait till it's well proven and see what other upgrades they make based on consumer's feedback. In the meantime my "22 GX will serve me just fine!!! One last thing, I wonder how abusive the dealers will be in overcharging for the new GX 550, and how dumb people will be paying for that overcharge? Remains to be seen.

Can you talk a little about the actual new Land Cruiser in an off-road context and not the GX? Like what type of off road scenario would make you go with one versus the other if you wanted to spend less $? Could you trade your current GX for a 2024 LC and still do the things you do on your channel? Thanks!

Really hoping to get an Overtrail Plus. They’ve done an awesome job bringing this vehicle to life. I wouldn’t dare call an suv with this many trims expensive because they have laid it out plain as day to make it easy to purchase.

Most wealthy people will not be overlanding so having the top of the trim line offering the offroad features seems to me a short sithed marketing idea.
People will gravitate more towards the LC 250
I could see sales of the premium version to be higher than sales for the overtrail.
Why pay for something you are not going to use. Just to have it? Then why offered it in the first place?
Why not having an overt rail that is not the top of the line but middle of the trim series.
80k is normal SUV/4x4 prices today. It's not a 3-million dollar Bentley. 😃 it's a Toyota
Well, I do not necessarily agree.
1) KDSS on my GX460 is great feature on-road, allowing for sportier/ almost car like reassuring handling with those beefier sway bars
2) ATRAC can save your day on-road in heavy or slippery snow conditions on steep driveways, hilly areas etc.
ATRAC is on all trim levels. You have a great point about e-kdss on road... wonder if they did anything to compensate for on road flatness on non ekdss trims?
@@LexusGX460-OFF-ROAD When I had a 2016 Luxury, this is what I experienced. It was truly the most reassuring safe vehicle I have ever driven especially in inclement weather. It saved my life in a full speed 55mph crash and ended its life in doing so. The third row is just a space eater. Love the OverTrail +. The taller sidewalls also provide more comfort and safety in preventing marring rims. Those 22s on the luxury will be scratched before you know it. And that panoramic no open glass roof...UGH. Can't wait for the driving reviews on potential low end turbo lag.
