Step into the 19th century, a golden age of opulence where time itself seemed to slow for those born into the embrace of old money. This is a world where wealth isn’t a goal-it’s the air you breathe, a legacy passed down like heirlooms, whispered through generations. You and your friends are not simply rich; you are untouchable, living in a realm so rarefied that everyday concerns barely register. Afternoons drift by in gilded salons or on sweeping estates with manicured gardens stretching to the horizon. Laughter fills the air as you lounge on Persian rugs, sipping champagne from crystal flutes while the strains of a violin-played by a private musician-create an aura of effortless luxury. Around you, delicacies abound: caviar served on silver trays, pastries so intricate they resemble edible art, and champagne fountains that seem to flow endlessly. The people in your orbit are as polished as their surroundings. Noble bloodlines intertwine with an aesthetic that seems more divine than human-beauty, charm, and poise are simply assumed. The conversation is playful, the mood carefree, as if the world belongs solely to you and your closest companions. Draped in silks and tailored suits, every glance and gesture speaks of a life steeped in grace and privilege. The outside world? It barely exists. Struggles and hardships are foreign concepts, stories of another realm entirely. Here, in this bubble of inherited wealth, art, music, and joy are the only currencies that matter. You live as if the world were a grand stage, with you and your friends at the center, celebrating not out of necessity but because it is your birthright to do so. Enjoy this playlist, designed to make you feel as if you, too, were born into this world of old money splendor. xoxo, dearvictorandvictoria
This is how a king like myself should live every day. Mad to think there were people that lived like this, while the rest of the world was suffering.... And to consider there are people that still live like this, while others live paycheck to paycheck. I'm envious
Since I love so much your playlists, artwork and captions, I have just one small suggestion, or at least what I would like to see to get transported into the era where the caption is saying it's happening. If the compositions in the playlist are classical ones, I would try to make sure that compositions could be really listened to in the year that's indicated in the caption. The majority of compositions from the playlist were composied many years after 1801. Maybe I'm being too peacky or too literal, if you think so, you can just ignore this comment lol. Thank you for your hard work!
Yes, in my 1800s gilded age fantasy there are no lice. There is no syphilis, dysentery, and there is no cholera or smallpox and everyone has great dental hygiene. My fantasy includes washrooms that have indoor plumbing too. So like the plumbing and everything is updated. And of course, I would have to be filthy rich in that Gilded Age other than that yes, absolutely the fantasy is great.
That painting/illustration is more late 19th century, no? The Cottage Loaf Pompadour hair style, the silk gowns with pearl beading and puffs and the mens white tie (however the shirts might be a different decade?) Okay - I totally looked it up via Fashionhistory Timeline and I am right! Hallelluja this gives me a sense of accomplishment and perfect procrastination of the work I am supposed to do from home... I would excell in anything, that wasn't framed as work, yet I suck at the deadliny life of this era.. Help.. (Love the playlist btw!)
the music as well, the only pieces from before 1801 are bach's and mozart's, fur elise wasn't published until 1867 and the rest are obviously by puccini, bizet, etc who weren't even born then.
Dear this amazing wonderful team, I am shocked not because of fear but how beautiful the selected in this playlist is. I've probably listened to hundreds of them but THIS is something different, every piece is perfection together. I literally cried listening to this playlist. Thank you so much! 🥲😘
Ah, 1801. The colonies are finally settled down, Napoleon Bonaparte is First Consul, and rising star Ludwig van Beethoven has just started performing his second symphony.
This is great except for the volume is so unstable that some songs I have to have on really low volume and some are on almost all the way up... can you make a stable volume version? That setting does not work on your videos and it would be really helpful for working and studying
Talbots knew Carnegie that's all I knew about that oh that and my family been working English Iron since Ireland the other half comes from Hungry so technically I'm Irish Mediterranean and Hungarian on my dad's side and mother was Asiatic but had gold in her family estate 😊
52:34 Why would you be listening to the Spar Spangled Banner in 1801 when it was written in 1814? Not a historically accurate playlist but doesn't sound bad.

Do not forget one important thing: the French Revolution was a revolution led by and for the bourgeoisie, not for the aristocracy nor the poor.
