    I just signed up for a DIBBS account and have recently been verified and validated. My question is how do I obtain a contract with no prior contracts ( prior performance) being won? I was told by my PTAC officer to stay away from DIBBS but I see DIBBS as a great entry point for contracts below 500K

      Did your PTAC give you a reason to "stay away"? That's an interesting statement to make...

    Can suggest a type of product that would be good for a small business new to working with DLA to supply?

      I’m with you! I worked in Aviation parts distribution for 9 years, but honestly you can be a distributor or a manufacturer. There’s more work in being a distributor because your essentially the middleman from the manufacturer to the DLA, but you’d be surprised there’s a lot of companies that want to do business with the DLA but don’t want to deal with the red tape. So you could generate income by receiving a small portion of this business transaction for your part. Now manufacturing a product, you can receive 100% of the cost of the contract, no matter the product. Just research an area you’d think you’d be able to fulfill for the DLA, and start small and grow your brand by fulfilling those contracts! Good luck!

      @@Midknyte182 Thanks for your response. I am in the process of researching manufacturers that will allow me to be the distributor. Seems like the really big companies are the approved sources, so it doesn't seem like I could compete with them..... AND many of them to whom I've reached out are not will to quote or sell to me as a small business entrepreneur. At any rate, if you have any suggestions or guidance on types or specific manufactures I should contact please advise.

      @@lisaj4441 I’m sorry to hear that! That’s super frustrating. I’m actually just starting off myself, but I’ve just worked with the DLA for years with an established aviation company that bid on contracts and that built a 20 year standing with the DLA and mostly dealt with with RFPs. As I get going on my own venture which led me to this video, I’ll be happy to share more information!

      @@lisaj4441 I ran into that same issue, alot of the companies once they find out you are bidding with the government they will send you back a NO BID. I have now started to say that I I have customer, or a local customer. I no longer mention the government in any fashion.

    Where do I go to obtain drawings and specs if it isn't available on the solicitation?

    • @Midknyte182
      @Midknyte182 2 роки тому +1

      You’d have to reach out directly to the manufacturer as they have and should have all original drawings from their engineers and R&D department. If they don’t have them, they need a better QA/QC process.
