It's not just about legendary players, but the game itself was at a pretty high level. It was beautiful to watch. It's insane that in Italy football was played quicker 30 years ago than in Italy now.
The average football player of those times including the 90's and the initial years of the 2000's, were more skilled by far than the players nowadays.
Spot on!
Yes you're right !
true, nowadays football is more dinamic, but back then more skillful
It started to decline sharply around mid 2000s. Sadly Inter winning a treble in 2010 was the last time an Italian dominated the CL. Also, calciopoli was a huge blow for the league.
Serie A in 80s to 00s Incompareble in every aspect all in 1 at that time. Coach, player, clubs, sponsor, jersey kit, money power, investor, manager, club owner, sport brand, crazy fans, coreography, ultras, banner, flares and many more .serie a conquer all that
in 89 Italian clubs won all european competitions Champions league , Cup Winners Cup and Uefa Cup.this was the golden age of Serie A without a doubt
Italian SerieA in the 80s-90s was like a World Cup played from september to may
And then from May to August, u suffer some kind of depression.
Truer words have never been spoken
It wasn’t as most of the best South Americans still played in their countries

Serie A from the 80s to early 2000s was without a shadow of a doubt, the best league in the world
From the arrival of Platini to the Calciopoli.
1980 - 2006
2010! After treble inter milan seria a every year worst.
I'd say from the mid 80s to 2001, definitely. A solid 15 years, at least. I think from 2001-2006 it went down a bit because a lot of the best players from Fiorentina, Lazio, Roma, Parma, etc went to the big three clubs (Juve, Milan or Inter), or they just left Italy altogether to go to either Spain or England. I'd say La Liga was at a similar level (or maybe even a bit better) from 2002-2006 until Calciopoli hit then Serie A went to shit and the EPL was the best for about 5 years. Nowadays, all the leagues are boring....but there's no question about it, from around '84 to '01, Serie A was the greatest domestic league to ever exist.
Brasileirão in 90s was much better, beside the monstruos skills of this generation of brazilian players, the fans, players and the league itsef was absolutely wild and reckless
without a doubt the hardest league ever
Che nostalgia, stadi pieni e grandi campioni in campo. La serie A era la miglior Lega d'Europa
What a league, Maradona, Careca, Alemao, Gullit, Van Basten, Rijkaard, Matthaeus, Brehme, Klinsmann, Ramon Diaz, Voeller, Dunga, Laudrup, Luis Muller, combined with local superstar like Baresi, Maldini, Donadoni, Aldo Serena, Bergomi, Altobelli, Vialli, Mancini, Massaro, Baggio, Giannini and youngster like Marco Simone. That's insane
You forgot platini
@@samahituchiha9420 no, Platini is already retired that year
You forgot Carlo Ancelotti
@@OlengGerrard yeah
Leo Junior in Pescara! Unbelievable!
Serie A was just incredible in the 80’s. 1984/85 season was even better imo with players like Boniek, Platini, Socrates, Prime Maradona, Zico, Rummenigge, Passarella etc..
Those were the days Matigol. I miss them. I'm to old now, to be impressed by players of today. I've seen it all before in the 70's,80's and early 90's. ;-)
Hey Mati, Any chance we can get a vid like this one of that season?
1984\1985 is the best ever league Imho.I dont think there ever was another league with the arguably 5 best players in the world at the same time. The 1984\85 Season got All the 1980-1985 Ballon d'Or winners, All the 1980-1985 World Soccer Player of the Year Winners, All the 1980-1985 Onze d'Or player of the year winners and all the 1979-1985 Guerin Sportivo Player of the Year Winners and finally all the 1979-1983 South American Ballon d'Or winners! You cant beat that!
Serie A today is a far cry from what it used to be in the 80s and 90s and early 2000s.Fiorentinaof80s,90s and early 2000s(which was the weakest of the 7 sisters) could easily beat today's Juventus Inter Milan and Atalanta
@@tapeplixio2419 agreed, but to it's credit, Serie A actually has been having a resurgence of late, at least as a league. Juve has been winning continuously, but they've actually been good close wins a lot of them
Don't think people understand how naturally gifted so many young Italians are at football. All people ever talk about is southern American, Portuguese and Spanish talent but Italy has always had top tier footballing talent in their players.

Certainly from 84 after Maradona had gone there until 99, and possibly for a couple of seasons after that, Serie A dominated world football! It was a Super League. In terms of European silverware + the best coaches. And for the crowds which were immense. And for the money + prestige. Del Piero was still the highest paid player in Europe at Euro 2000 + even by 2002, 5 out of the top 10 richest clubs in the world based on revenue were still Italian. And that's before you even take into account that almost half the league were usually bankrolled by(for the time) very rich oligarchs! They had 7/8 giant clubs challenging for the top places every season, and there was always 3 to 4 really good, mid-table sides with good International players like Genoa, Bologna, Vicenza, Udinese + Foggia that sometimes got into Europe + even the relegation contenders too, were usually packed with young stars, legends + a current International superstar. Like Zico, Balbo, M.S.Amoroso + Bierhoff at Udinese, Panucci, Branco, Eranio, Aguilera + Skuhravy at Genoa. Pirlo, Guardiola, Hagi + Baggio at Brescia, Dunga at Pescara, Bjorklund, Mendez + Otero at Vicenza, Platt, Boban, Jarni, K.Andersson, Masinga, Doll + Cassano at Bari, Chamot, Di Biagio, Petrescu, Signori + Kolyvanov at Foggia, Caniggia, Stromberg, Inzaghi, Vieri, Alemao, Montero + Ganz at Atalanta, Francescoli, Moriero, Dely Valdez, Herrera + Fonseca at Cagliari, Simeone at Pisa, Briegel, Stojkovic, Laursen, Berthold, Elkjaer + Mutu at Verona, Recoba at Venezia. The list is endless! Then you had the best players in the world at the top teams. The Germans from 1990 + beyond like Brehme, Voeller, Matthaus, Riedle, Kohler, Sammer, Heinrich, Effenberg, Ruminegge, Ziege, Moller, Klinsmann + Hassler. The Brazilians like Taffarel, Careca, Muller, Ronaldo, Falcao, Adriano, Cafu, R Carlos, Socrates, Emerson, Cruz + Edmundo. The Argentines like Diego, Batistuta, Veron, Ayala, Ortega, Crespo, Zanetti + Claudio Lopez. I remember literally half of Argentina's 98 World Cup Squad were based in Italy at the time. The Dutch like Van Basten, Davids, Rijkaard, Kluivert, Gullit, Bergkamp, Winter + Seedorf. The French from 96-00 like Desailly, Boghossian, Karembeu, Dugarry, Blanc, Djorkaeff, Thuram, Candela, Deschamps, Trezeguet, Zidane + Platini, Angloma + Papin from before. The Portuguese with Rui Costa, Couto, S.Conceicao, Futre + P.Sousa, the Swedes + Belgians like Brolin, Thern, Schwarz, Grun, Oliviera, Gerets + Scifo + the Africans like Weah, Oliseh, Song, West, Appiah, M'boma + A.Pele. Then they were the eastern Europeans like Savicevic, Jugovic, Nedved, Lacatus, Kubik, Simic, Boksic, Shalimov, Mikhailichenko, Dobrovolski, Stankovic, Kanchelskis, Stoichkov, Katanec, Mihajlovic + Vlaovic. And Miura, Nakata, Lalas, Gazza, Medford, Kaviedes + Ince all made their mark too. On top of all the great Italian legends of the time. All which made it the strongest league ever!
And Maradona on top of it all. Goat.
I think Italy being such a picturesque country made it more attractive for the world class players to come in and have a great career and make the league more devastating.
The interesting fact is almost all key Players which play in world cup 1990 for their country is came from serie a.

Yeah, but it's also important to say that men were actually physically stronger and tougher, regardless what they didn't have sixpack. They were very tough, but didn't have the model bodies, which doesn't mean they were weaker.
And back then many would like to fight in the fire of the game, unlike today with so many pus****.
@@peacefulwarrior7954 nah I think nowadays are probably stronger considering pretty much everyone now uses the gum but yes they were tougher but not stronger
@@cjpearce1407 well, I think that bodies like models don't determine your physics. If you look at Ronaldo you will see his great body, but he is also very thin if you look closely, same as many players today, except Adama Traore. Ruud Gullit was much stronger than Ronaldo. And it's important to mention that physical strength also means balance, which is why Messi hardly gets down on the floor by other players.

Cuando la liga italiana era de lejos la mejor del mundo,y era complicado salir goleador.
Best league in this time period . AC Milan was way ahead Real Madrid in the term of "galacticos"
Yeah, that Galacticos team was always beaten by Barca and they didn't win a single CL. What really annoys me is that people behave that football was created in 2010, so if some player is great he must go to the biggest clubs in the world:Real and Barca. Barca was not so big before Guardiola, that's a fact. Or before Ronaldinho. And what is very funny is that nobody mentions Bayern or Liverpool, who are doing much better in the past years. I agree with many of the comments here, this vid is great and really shows how incredible the Italian league was. Definitely the best league ever, my god the Brazil 82 and 86 teams were playing there and they were not even in the top teams!

Gullit was an animal on the pitch, legend ❤️
Serie A throughout the 80s 90s and early 2000s was the best league in world until the calciopoli ruined it
Yeah, then it started to be really boring and too defensive. Even though it is recognisable as defensive league, it was also known as the league with a strong attacking and midfielder area that was always fulfilled with creative players, especially trequartistas; never seen so many nr. 10 players like there. Very entertaining football back then. Now Spain's and England's leagues are much more entertaining, but I see some notes of improvement in Serie A, especially in my Milan, where I see a little bit of total football (but just a little bit). And also I have to say that at least Italian national team is doing very well. They haven't lost their game since 2018 and they have a great goal ratio. Also check out their goal vs Netherlands, very beautiful action. I hope they win the euro, if my country won't.

back than Serie A is the richest league in the world with full of great players. they broke transfer world record multiple times. too bad they didn't expand TV market in Asia. hence Premier League take the opportunity in 1992.
Precision, Power, Passion
Man I grew up with these players, the first year that I can remember vividly is 86/87 (Napoli's first Scudetto), even though I have some random memories from the season before.
The year of this video Milan was THE football city in Europe, as AC Milan destroyed competition en route to a Champions League triumph, while Inter Milan won the Scudetto destroying the previous points record.
To this day that Inter side is referred to in Italy as "Inter of the records" (L'Inter dei record).
Cheers from Italy
