I love the African feel of this song, and the inspiration behind this shines through. Looking forward to hearing the full album and seeing you on the tour.
Amos Lee is a phenomenal world artist. He has music for ALL genres: R&B, Latin, Alternative, Country, Rock, Jazz, Gospel, Inspirational, Folk, Contemporary, Easy Listening and Popular. :o)
An interview with Amos revealed his thoughts/feelings on this song and the album: "The day after Parkland happened, I was just like -- as I think we all were and continue to be -- overcome with what the kids were saying and what our history in the United States is and what I feel like some of our obligations to each other are, and I rewrote the whole song," Lee says. "I didn't tell Tony I did it, and I went in the next day and said, 'I think I rewrote the song.' So he ran the tape down and we did it, and...thank you to those kids for sharing their stories with us. Hopefully there's some constructive feeling about this tragedy. "And that's the feeling for this whole record as well."
I've been listening to Amos Lee's music for over ten years now. I know, like all his music.! I luv his folky stuff, I luv his funky stuff, I luv his bluesy stuff. This song here is not funky, not folky or bluesy. So..... I really don't know about this jam. Def. Not one of my favorites. I do know that. Really adore his voice tho.
useacondompeople You aren't the same person you were 10 years ago. People change and evolve. I understand that you like some of his "other" stuff, but he has to be able to express himself artistically. He can't just keep making the same old music to please fans. Also, this is only one track from the album. The rest of the album may sound different. As far as I'm concerned, he could sing the damn telephone book and I'd love it!
Of course, u can put out new sound in ur music but that doesn't mean ppl are gonna dig it. Not as much as maybe his other stuff. His voice is exceptional and this song doesn't showcase this. This song does not do his amazing vocal tone justice. He's way better than this......basically. just my opinion.
Perhaps.... But go listen to his song, Scared Money. After u hear his voice in that song, hopefully u will see/hear what I mean. This song here is on a different/lesser level. Period.
Amos Lee is a TRUE musician/producer. He is WAY OVERDUE for an American Music Award, Oscar (for Best Original Song) and a Billboard award -- just to name a few. :o)
Regina Simmons artist like these never get awards, ya know, the ones that should but never do..... just nice to know there still is good music out there.
You stare at the broken mirrors Shattered reflections of the past I think we may be standin' in the same Shadows that been cast Darkness, no more darkness The broken days have beat the dead of night Darkness, no more darkness No more darkness, no more light And a trail we choose to follow It's as cursed as it is blessed Is there mercy that we all must face Before the dead can raise? Darkness, no more darkness The broken days have beat the dead of night Darkness, no more darkness No more darkness, no more light And if you listen to the song that settled on the breeze A woman sings unto our baby boy I won't live to see the day that you'll be lifted off your knees Some days it feels so hopeless Nothing's makin' any sense Flags we raise in praise of ruthless Supposes innocence Darkness, no more darkness The broken days have beat dead of night Darkness, no more darkness No more darkness, no more light No more darkness, no more light No more darkness, no more light

He is surely influenced by Paul Simon !
Amos Lee is way overdue for a Grammy.
Regina Simmons what you said!

He is beyond any award.

I agree!!
🎅🏽🎄Merry Christmas to you
Really cool African/Calypso sound. You sure know how to mix it up!
You stare at the broken mirrors
Shattered reflections of the past
I think we may be standin' in the same
Shadows that been cast
Darkness, no more darkness
The broken days have beat the dead of night
Darkness, no more darkness
No more darkness, no more light
And a trail we choose to follow
It's as cursed as it is blessed
Is there mercy that we all must face
Before the dead can raise?
Darkness, no more darkness
The broken days have beat the dead of night
Darkness, no more darkness
No more darkness, no more light
And if you listen to the song that settled on the breeze
A woman sings unto our baby boy
I won't live to see the day that you'll be lifted off your knees
Some days it feels so hopeless
Nothing's makin' any sense
Flags we raise in praise of ruthless
Supposes innocence
Darkness, no more darkness
The broken days have beat dead of night
Darkness, no more darkness
No more darkness, no more light
No more darkness, no more light
No more darkness, no more light
♥️
Hi everyone! Someone could give me the lyric of this song?
Tnk u!
Ca. from Sicily...
You stare at the broken mirrors
Shattered reflections of the past
I think we may be standing in the same
Shadows that been cast
Darkness, no more darkness
The broken days have beat the dead of night
Darkness, no more darkness
No more darkness, no more light
And a trail we choose to follow
It's as cursed as it is blessed
Is there mercy that we all must face
Before the dead can raise
Darkness, no more darkness
The broken days have beat the dead of night
Darkness, no more darkness
No more darkness, no more light
And if you listen to the song that settled on the breeze
A woman singing on to our baby boy
I won't live to see the day that you'll be lifted off your knees
Some days it feels so hopeless
Nothing's making any sense
Flags we raise in praise of ruthless
Supposed (?) innocence
Darkness, no more darkness
The broken days have beat dead of night
Darkness, no more darkness
No more darkness, no more light
No more darkness, no more light
No more darkness, no more light
jaz zle thank you very much!
Have a nice day! ♡

I thought it was a hidden gem from Paul Simon’s Graceland record. Love it.

Nice song.
One day late in August. 2018 will call and want it's shittiness back.
amydau I know you are not talking about this album.
Bridgette McLeod My bad. I meant that when the album drops in August; 2018 will be bearable.
amydau Sorry I misunderstood
I just get really sensitive when it comes to Amos Lee!
The guitar part sounds a bit like John Mayer- Paper Doll, but both are amazing songs!
Really wish you were coming to Florida again! xoxo
