I have a serious issue with Nike messing with the St. George’s flag in this way to be honest. Putting patriotism and nationalism completely to one side, I view this as another nudge on consumers from a major global corporation that is looking to increase their corporate DEI score (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) by pushing forward transgender ideology nonsense and the sexualisation of children on the masses. This is just a more subtle version of what happened in the US last year with Bud Light and Dylan Mulvaney. Anheuser-Busch paid a very heavy price in terms of share price and I hope Nike will pay an equally heavy price in the UK for this affront on something that so many of us hold dear.
Steve, You have managed to put it in a way that I was also trying to explain, but much simpler. The only winner here is Nike. They must be clapping their hands with Joy with all the social media attention it is now grabbing! Nice to meet you last week also. have a great holiday. All the best.
I see nothing wrong with the logo. Ridiculous price to pay for a shirt though. I think it was very dignified of Telling the world she is receiving Cancer treatment. I just hope they will leave her alone to recover. Enjoyed today's video
I don’t really have an opinion, as I am Welsh and patriotic to my country 🏴 even though I live in England now, I do know the date of St George’s day 😊! I do support diversity but there’s probably an alternative motive here! Another thought provoking vlog!
If i wasn't made aware the cross wouldn't have bothered me,i appreciate things change & move forward but when you start breaking with tradition for there own agenda. I hope it back fires on nike.laurence fox protested against it @ a rally against nike but the idiot was wearing a pair of nikes @ the time.
The St George's cross is already inclusive. It represents all English people regardless of race, lifestyle etc. I think things like this should be left out of sport. There's a time and place for everything.
Morning Rick, Interesting thoughts today, I'm with you , shirt can stay in the shop , not my cross but it is my money and my choice. I also agree that Kate was brave the way she told us all. Some people should take a long look in the mirror now, before they make another comment. Glad the rain has stopped over there, I saw Michael had to cancel Sat club at the Calypso, rain stops play. Have a good week mate.
I agree Rick.... "not my shirt" i too would not pay £120 for a football shirt !!! As for the cross... i read that the new colours of the cross were a nod to the 1966 world cup teams training kit colours ! Perhaps they think it will bring luck lol. I know we need to move with the times (ha coming from me the dinnasour/techno phobe) but why cant they just leave it. Good old 'one for all and all for one' if you get my drift ! Til the next one Rick, Happy cleaning and take care 🙏.
It has nothing to do wth the 1966 win lol. I know they said that, but the colours were completely different! Dont you think? Thanks for getting involved Margaret.
@@ricktenerife yes looking at it more closely you are right ! I can see what they were doing.... diversity i think. Our Prime Minister was even saying Nike should leave it as it was the flag we all know. Thanks for the reply. Til next time 🙏.
Hi Rick , what a price to pay for a Shirt £120, what r they buying them in for ? Bet there making a few £ . Yes these people who had a go at Kate are now I believe targeting Kate Galloway a bit too, ref her Documentary ref her late Husband etc they’ve got nothing better to do . Cheers again 👏 on a Lighter Note Rick, I’m Going to a Fancy Dress Party this Saturday, I’m. Going as a SCREW DRIVER , That Should Turn a Few Heads . BOOM BOOM 💥 CHEERS 🍻
Rick, our ankle biter SNOOP said he will do you, if you call saint Patrick's day, saint paddy's day again 😂😂, leave that to the yanks, and they also say saint pattys day or pattys day, only the yanks ehhhhh ? 😅. £120 for any jersey is total madness, and as you rightly pointed out, if everyone bought them, they would increace the price. Ooohhhh and snoop said let Rolo vomit after eating the grass or being at the salt water, hes just clearing out excess boil from his stomach, no harm and enjoy wiping it up lol. Another great vlog Rick, cheers Des
£120 for an England shirt,,,, naaa, not in Ricks world. Not when you can buy a white T Shirt & a few felt tip pens for a fraction of the price. WYKYKYK 😉🤭
In answer to your question, the 23rd April. I celebrate St Georges day every year and for the last 4 years i have organised a party night in my local legion. This year it is on Friday 19th as 23rd in on Tuesday. All this fuss about the red and white is hopefully going to help me to sell tickets to my show night. As for the Nike badge, i believe there is no room in football for race, religion or politics. Not a fan of black lives matters or anything else that take the attention from the game. Its easy, if you dont like it dont buy it.
Have to agree Vinnie. However I have a question. When I google when is St Georges day, Why does it say 23rd April? I dont understand. Can you enlighten me please.
@@ricktenerife Hi Rick you are correct St Georges day is on Tuesday 23rd April this year. I have organised a show night on the closest Friday to it. That being Friday 19th April....Wanna ticket lol
What about all the St George Cross flags that get defaced by various club supporters at international games. Who adorn the flag with their club name or where they are from. I get why the fans are upset. Football does stir up nationalist pride. Which brings me on to the flag. Nike should’ve gone the whole hog and admitted that it’s an all inclusive flag recognising all genders identities etc. ur they haven’t. They’ve held back. why. ??
It's not Nike who designed it the FA did. Nike just make the tops and pay the FA for the privilege to make the tops. The English FA make the prices to sell the tops RRP Not Nike.
Mr cosgrove just on out today missed most live but Madgee was on wae going now catch up 2 on now iwas first ok ill watch till the end 😎😎 still got black eye knees and rib better broken leg [arm ] fixed ASDA glasses 🤩🤩lol Shelly n Rolo
Yes Really Rick, from an IT developer 44 years experience. 👍🧡 ... maybe emojis are not consistent on every device however to be replaced with a black flag ...🤔
Great vlog Rick , loved the walk and the chat .there was a beautiful orange rock as you came around the bend n it looked like honey comb /inside a crunchy chocolate bar but on a huge scale ,it looked golden in the sunlight just gorgeous thankyou for that take care xx
The apple logo is meant to be taken form the Adam & Eve story. The bite Eve took of the apple 🍏 was how we got our knowledge .Then you have the computer byte. Maybe it’s just a coincidence lol. That’s what a had always believed anyway lol 😂
@@ricktenerife My understanding is that it's to do with when Easter falls each year. St. George's Day is generally known in England to be April 23rd every year, but the actual date can vary depending on the date of Easter, and between different religious denominations.
The flag colours have been changed for many sporting events and this is no different. While we have people living on the streets and millions of people using food banks , I couldn't care less about the colour of the flag.

The issue here is that Nike could not do this without it getting sanctioned by the English FA.
Loved the music in the opening few minutes.
Relaxing !

I served in the Women's Royal Naval Service and take offence to anyone messing with the National flag... you got it wrong Nike !!!!
You’ll get one of the shirts at Los Christianos Market on Tuesday for about €35.
I agree with you Rick on it being a publicity stunt on Nike's part but more fool anyone who pays the price they're asking, total ripoff x
Stephen Fry once asked Steve Jobs if it was true about the bite out of their apple logo and he said 'it isn't true but by God we wish it were'.
lol Really?
@@ricktenerife I remember watching QI and he told the story about asking Steve Jobs about it so I googled it for the exact quote.
There are more important things to worry over 👍😎
Nike have played a blinder here because everyone is talking about it. I’m Scottish btw so doesn’t bother me either way. Hope you are all good Rick.
