WOW this is so very beautiful. Made me cry & very emotional first time I heard you singing it. So atmospheric. Been listening to it everyday before rosary now to help me focus better when praying. Thank you & God Bless! xx
The angel Gabriel from Heaven came, His wings as drifted snow, his eyes as flame; 'All hail', said he, "thou lowly maiden Mary, Most highly favour'd lady, Gloria! 'For know a blessed Mother thou shalt be, All generations laud and honour thee, Thy Son shall be Emmanuel, by seers foretold, Most highly favour'd lady, Gloria! Then gentle Mary meekly bowed her head, 'To me be as it pleaseth God', she said, 'My soul shall laud and magnify His holy name, Most highly favour'd lady, Gloria! Of her, Emmanuel the Christ, was born, In Bethlehem, all on a Christmas morn, And everyone throughout the world will ever say Most highly favour'd lady, Gloria!
An EXCELLENT rendition of this hauntingly beautiful prose! You guys blew the doors off of it! Sting's version nearly brings a tear to my eyes, with your performance of it, I'm wiping tears of beautiful joy from my face!🥹🙏
My favorite arrangement off this beautiful song. Our ensemble did an instrumental version for an Advent service at Saint Rita Shrine I. Chicago. Singing is praying twice
That is heresy and blasphemy. You pray to God the Father through His Son Jesus Christ. See for yourself, the Bible's teachings: 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Christ is the only way we can approach God the Father. There is no other way. Please repent of such sin of praying to an angel.
I'm curious, not critical: how is this a secular song? It's not about Santa Claus; it's based on a Biblical text...so what are the criteria for sacred music? My question is why is this considered a Christmas song when it is clearly about the Annunciation? -- Puzzled in Texas
Nope. Anonymous Basque carol, translated into English (and somewhat romanticized in the process) by the werewolf-loving eccentric, Sabine Bearing-Gould. Strange but true.

I would love to use your YT as a clip in mine - it's the gentle interpretation you give the carol I love. I post a weekly video principally for my congregation but it is published for public viewing, All credit will be given to you and I'm happy to send you the link to mine if you are happy it has another platform for viewing. The lead singer is bad. He's not singing for his audience. He's singing for himself. Hello? Audience has to hear you. These rapid drops into piano pianissimo seem to be just for you to thrill to the sound of your own lovely voice. Now try singing the notes so people can actually hear them.
All you said is true, for what it's worth. But that's kind of the point. Gabriel walks in his own way...he's not doing it for you, or me, or anyone else. When death comes, it won't be holy, or meaningful, or insightful...although it may sometimes be that way, you shouldn't expect it. Gabriel is God's assassin. The most direct part of the universe.
I remember our singing teacher at high school telling us to 'land on the notes like a bird landing on a branch' rather than sliding up to them. This singer slides up to each note, so I agree with you that he is a bad singer, so I'm not too keen on this version of one of my favourite carols.
Beautiful. I loved this song when we were taught at school it has a special energy
Absolutely the best version I have heard of this most beautiful of carols.
I used this passage from Scripture for my morning meditation. What a blessed Advent as I look up music like this on You Tube.
I remember this from Christmas prayers at school 😆🙌
Where do the years go!
This is heaven, you really brought Gabriel down to us

Yes, it helped me meditate more closely on the mysteries of the rosary. SO powerful!!
This is a beautiful performance of a very old Catholic hymn. He sings with such passion.
The angel Gabriel from Heaven came,
His wings as drifted snow, his eyes as flame;
'All hail', said he, "thou lowly maiden Mary,
Most highly favour'd lady, Gloria!
'For know a blessed Mother thou shalt be,
All generations laud and honour thee,
Thy Son shall be Emmanuel, by seers foretold,
Most highly favour'd lady, Gloria!
Then gentle Mary meekly bowed her head,
'To me be as it pleaseth God', she said,
'My soul shall laud and magnify His holy name,
Most highly favour'd lady, Gloria!
Of her, Emmanuel the Christ, was born,
In Bethlehem, all on a Christmas morn,
And everyone throughout the world will ever say
Most highly favour'd lady, Gloria!
Thank You for Your Words
I come back to this every year, wonderful ❤️

My favorite arrangement off this beautiful song. Our ensemble did an instrumental version for an Advent service at Saint Rita Shrine I. Chicago. Singing is praying twice
Awesome instrumentation! Would like to hear more of this texture. Bravo!

Gabriel is my protector, I pray to him everyday.

+Patrick J. Colliano Get better headphones. This is a recording, not a stage performance...
Patrick J. Colliano trolling?
