That was trademark Hemingway-ness. A family legacy of keeping 'problems' under wraps, even from/amongst themselves. That's why her sister Mariel's 2013 documentary, **"Running from Crazy,"** is so powerful: introspection and authenticity. Lord knows how she (Mariel) has managed to overcome that Hemingway legacy of denial and self-destructiveness. She seems to have truly broken the cycle of abuse... unlike Margaux here: **Undoubtably brave** to be as forthcoming as she is, but still in denial, I feel [admittedly as "armchair" psychologist], about her inner 'demons.' **I can't stress enough** how brave she was to do this interview and allow herself to as vulnerable as she was able; I believe she did it as a service to help others with similar struggles, and a dear-heart to do so. At the same time, however, I can't help but notice how she hedged her answer to the question of how long she's been abstinent from **bulimia.** I know she struggled, and I applaud what progress she did manage to make. What is **most heartbreaking** for me is listening to her speak about how close she is with her **father,** knowing that sometime between this 1990 interview and her death in 1996, she would allege **molestation** by her father, which caused her father and stepmother to stop speaking to her for 2 years, with said stepmother telling "People" magazine in 1995 that "She constantly lies. The whole family won't have anything to do with her. She's nothing but an angry woman.". In Mariel's 2013 documentary, she (Mariel) makes the stunning confirmation of that sexual abuse: that she personally witnessed the molestation of both Margaux and their eldest sister Joan (nicknamed "Muffet"). Mariel goes further in hypothesizing that this culture of abuse somehow related to how extremely close Margaux&Muffet were to their father, whereas Mariel always felt outside of that unit.

Yes, she was trying to start a conversation with me, but I was in awe. I did say something, but who remembers. She spoke to me for about 10 minutes, about the weather. She asked if I worked out. I had just came back from a vacation in the sun so I had a great tan. And I did work out. And she stated she likes to jog in the morning. But our two smiles at each other said it all. I knew it too, but I just froze for awhile, until I finally spoke to her. Jose knew her since she lived in the building above. I just remember those eyes.
