Dude, you're a legend. I have a Neotec 27" & 25" both needing cap and flyback swap. You make it so clear, that I actually think I can do this. Thanks so much! I know this video is older, but it will be watched for many years to come.... and every viewer is greatful. Thanks man!
Thanks for this video. I was wondering what type of braid you used in your other videos, but then I found this. Your videos have been a huge help in overcoming my hesitancy to do monitor work.
You’re welcome. You should check out my other channel that’s dedicated to monitor repairs… youtube.com/@mikesamateurarcademonitorr6856?si=EOQ-UlT8UB8gjnN7
THANK YOU! I have two down machines, both with flyback issues. I've been putting this off for months because, well honestly, I was scared of causing irreparable damage to the chassis. I think I'm going to tackle one in the next few days! Thank you again for making this.
+Snow Kitty You're welcome! Don't be scared. As you could see, it's not difficult at all. Just take your time and really give everything a good lookover before powering the chassis back up. Give part 2 a watch as well.
Thank you for this video. It is not the exact type I am working on but you did reference the 7400 which helps a ton. This has a lot of good references to look back on when attempting my repair.
Great video! I picked up an Area 51 two days ago and the flyback decided to start going out. I am going to also tackle the cap kit. Never have repaired a monitor but that is what UA-cam is for! Already watched how to discharge the cap on the flyback.
I have always used the braid (and sometimes one of the little rubber bulbs) to remove the solder also. But I did recently get a Pace soldering and desoldering station that I am looking forward to using on my next flyback replacement. Hopefully it won't cause any problems, but I will just have to wait and see. Nice job.
great work Mike ! i have the same neotec monitor , it has an issue , the flyback screen pot is not working , the picture is too dark , so i crank the screen pot all way high and makes no difference at all . Do you have any idea whats could be wrong ?
Flybacks usually have a model numbers on them, also most come with different pin configurations to one another, you need to look at its wiring diagram or data sheet to see if its compatable with your chassis. Download "The Big Book" that is a very useful source for flyback wiring diagrams it has literally thousands of flybacks in the book, you can see what is then compatable with your chassis and if stuff like chassis jumpers needs altering to get the new or maybe different style flyback to work.
I have. Some question sir. About 21 inchs tv screen fly back. I. Mean. The. Fly. Of it. It. Was. The same. To. The. Other 21 inchs tv screen. Fly back. If. The whole leg. Off. The fly back transformer. Is the same to. Other. 21 tv flyback. It is ok. To. Replace by using. The. Other. Fly back. With. Is not. Compatible brand. Pls. Answer. Sir. Need. Some help
I think desoldering braid is ok for smaller jobs but I would invest in a cheap desoldering station they are cheap from China and are quite good enough for occasional use. I’m working on a CRT for the first time so may need some fault finding advice. The one I have is made by Sony and just appear totally dead. Not sure where to start. Just saw the joints next you P402 look dry.
I am changing the flyback on my lethal enforcers. There is a box connected to the flyback and it is a high voltage regulator. When the gun trigger is pulled it sends a voltage to that box to control it. I was told when replacing the flyback I do not need that box. Can you confirm this?
I hooked up the flyback wires backwards last night. I know better. I hope I didnt damage anything. I couldn't adjust brightness up. Starting looking at the neckboard, and DOH!
are flyback transformers interchangeable for the most part? how can I find out whether a flyback will be a match for my chassis/tube? are the pinouts always the same?
Hi, I've a dark picture on my SNK MVS U1 Toei (bought like that), tried to set with knob adjustment, impossible to have a great light. Would you think I've to change the flyback ? Thx.
I just got a ms pacman arcade machine and the flyback is busted I don't know much about arcade but I can see the flyback is cracked how do u know which one to order it need help

More people need to watch this video.
Thanks so much for this video. I have a chance to get a Rampage World game, but the flyback is bad on it. Now I feel confident in replacing this unit.

+TortureBot Cool! Thanks.
How exactly do you clean the boards w/ Simple Green? I would appreciate your information.

best fucking video .... saved my ass ... my monitor is working propperly now ... thanks man
Glad I could help!
What was your issue?
Oof, that looks complicated! I don’t think I will be doing this myself.
What are your recommendations for discharging the crt? Do you discharge through a resistor? If so, what size?
That makes me mad too mowing grass while you are working your magic , so I going to throw my empty beer cans in his yard LOL
questions questions questions. You said you clean the chassis with simple green? Straight on the board is no issue?
After rinsing well, blowing the water off with compressed air, and letting it sit for 24 hours, yup. Works great.
@@YourMKArcadeSource appreciate the feedback. Trying my first flyback swap this weekend.
Idk where i could get replacements for my CRT monitor...😣nice video!

When buying a replacement flyback, are there specifications one should know about...? I mean, can a 54cm tv flyback work on a 74cm tv?

Correct. Not 100% necessary. It’s simply to reduce the flash brightness for seizure prone people.

You’ll need to lookup which one is used for your specific model

is it possible to repair the old flyback transformer ?
Pokemon640 Nope.
Great flipping video!
How do you know you got the right flyback? It can't be any flyback... can it?
No. It’s based on the model of the chassis/monitor. This is a Neotec 2515c
lol at neighbour @ 29:05 :)
The last 30 seconds fixed my new flyback!
