I have my VTR SP 1 now 13 years its great, pc3 two brothers high mount exhaust and 132hp on the wheel. 72000km (44738 miles) and the valves have never needed to be adjusted, HRC did a nice job building this engine.
So I rode VFRs for 8 years, then a Kawi ZX9R for 6y and got my SP2 in 02. Amazing machine - put two brothers pipes on a few years later and it's my mistress still, been riding her for 20 years! Have a Yama FJR1300 and Ducati Monster that i just got 2 years ago for running around town and occasional canyons in Utah - that throat, torque, and feel are just awesome and I've enjoyed a good number of trackdays too. GREAT machine! Only 29000 miles tho, I'd better get busy...
The SP2 is one of the best looking and sounding bikes ever. You don't need crazy top end speed, when you have the grunt that thing has!!! That engine note is oh so sweet. As is the VFR 750. Gotta love Honda. Everyone; ride safe..
I remember Nicky Hayden (RIP) winning the AMA title on this bike in 2002 and Colin Edwards doing the same in WSB(double champ) That is what catapulted Nicky into MOTO GP and a MOTO GP title in 2006. I fell in love with the RC the first time I saw one and always said I’d wait for them to drop a little in value before I got one, but had a kid and life got in the way. It makes me happy to see someone so passionate about owning one like I would be if I could, she’s a beauty my friend, thanks for allowing some of us less fortunate to live vicariously through your channel. ✌🏻
I know what you mean, this bike fuels the soul, the sound, torque just a great all around bike. I just picked up my first RC51 this October, I’ll be riding this until im 70 maybe even longer, well done Hero
I just picked up a Euro-Spec (Silver) SP-1 yesterday. I always loved this bike since I got into motorbikes in 2000. I decided my first "classic" sportbike would be an RC51. What a lovely bike.
Yesterday I saw a RC51 first time at a dealer and I directly was surprised. Today I made a test drive and bought it. Kind of feel exactly like you. From one test drive, it felt like I never drove something else
@HeroRR ...Congrats on an getting that awesome bike... I agree, I enjoy the "older" sports bikes, picked up a 2005 Triumph Daytona 650 (in June 2018). I stripped it down and pulled all of the wiring out of the bike and went through and wrapped all the harness in new high temp Tesa 51026 tape. While also making sure to address any issues I found. Replaced the Stator and Voltage regulator. Replaced the quick disconnect fitting on the tank as the original ones were no longer acting as auto shut and letting the fuel leak. Then I went through and checked all of the mechanicals, since the bike has close to 30k miles on it, figured it couldn't hurt to do the 30k checks. Everything checked out ok, and I put everything back together and then Wrapped the whole bike in an Arctic Camo Vinyl wrap. Lots of work to get done in 5 days... BUT I did it and NOW the bike it "perfect"... With everything done, it puts a huge smile on my face every time I ride it.
The RC51 was my dream bike for years! A friend bought one when I had only been on 600s. The thing felt like a monster, like how a real race bike should. My 600 felt like a child's toy in comparison. Quite a few years later I finally decided to get one. I drove a few states over to buy a mint 2003 SP2. It was set up -1 +2 gearing, Jardine exhaust. The motor was a joy and it sounded amazing. But the suspension was too harsh and it ran SO HOT. I knew about that going in but didn't think it'd be so bad. But it was. On an 80 plus degree day, it couldn't get the temperature under 200 unless you were on the highway. It would just cook you and kept me from riding it on too many occasions. I didn't even keep it a year. They are very special bikes though and very fun to ride.
Great choice man, we won a heavyweight twins championship with that bike ( I was the wrench/crew chief). Best chassis ever to work on. Anything we did, it would react exactly as you expected. And then, the BOOM! Enjoy!
I've been so busy I haven't checked out you're channel in a few months. I finally start watching again and it pleases me so much you got another honda lol
I just got an 03 sp2 with about 10k miles and it's amazing. My first "liter bike" and am glad the previous owners kept everything stock besides yoshi carbon slip-ons, carbon front and rear fender/ chain guard and flush turn signals/ rear integrated signals like yours. Very exciting bike to ride with all that torque in every gear and fairly easy to ride.
You've got good taste my dude, it's hard to find people that want to put the stock components BACK ON to replace aftermarket items. Also, RC51. Congrats on the new bike!
Congrats! One of my all time fav bikes. I had a Ducati M900 wit high mount termi pipes. Sounds just like it. The low rpm studdering is the chracteristics of v twin, just clutch it at low revs. The Torque is sick!!! At freeway speeds on the highest gear, u just crack the throttle and ur gone, no delays or downshifting. Im very happy you got this bike because I want to see more videos of the bike. Congrats again and becarefull in 1st gear, that puppy will come off the ground!!!
Congratulations, my dad has a '01 RC51 SP1 Nicky Hayden edition, and he loves it more than anything! Your bike sounds absolutely amazing and makes me want to upgrade from my SV650s. Looking forward to more content on this beast.
Had an '03 sp1. Sato, pc3, the thing sounded like a huey chopper from behind and would set off car alarms. Man I miss that bike more than any other. Enjoy your ride!
Litre bikes are a blast. The torque my FZ1 has even at 6k is amazing. It's nice being able to pass cars without downshifting like I had to with my fz6.
Congrats on the new RC51. I picked up my 01 (SP-1) a couple years ago and I love it. I miss my 748, but once I get on the Honda and get into the sweet spot I stop missing it. For (only) 130 horses the bikes can still move. Beautiful bike, enjoy! Think I'll head out today for the final ride of 2018. It's gorgeous, but still a lil wet out.
@@hazmyfarriz8078 maybe, i dont think he mentioned how many miles on the clock, it was definitely looked after either way, sort out those oddball parts an shell be perfect
I looked at that exact bike about 4 months ago, I opted to get a Nicky Hayden edition just for the nostalgia.. clean bike though, owner took great care of it.
I've watched a few of your videos and this one interested me because I like you vlogging. Then I recognized that you are driving around my town and surrounding areas. Keep it up!

Congratulations on your bike man. I’ve driven one back in 2004 which was the SP2 Nicky Hayden edition and I loved it. I have one as well but it’s just the 2003 RVT RC51. Never did post any videos about it before and on my channel I only posted my Ducati Panigale 1199S. Have a good one and Godspeed🙏

Nice purchase, classic bike. Look forward to seeing you get it the way you want it to be. That's a keeper, great low end torque which is perfect for street riding, plenty fast enough, stay safe!
Another one of the bikes i want in my garage. Got the 954RR (you MUST get another) and got my original learner 1990 CG125 (i built it myself from boxes at the age of 11 so... Sentimental) Want the CBR400RR Babyblade and the RC51. My perfect garage.
I would love to have one of these. Love the Vtwin sound. Have always admired the Buell Firebolts, Ducatis, etc... But I'll get one of these when I move up, if I can find one. Nice bike, absolutely love it!
The Rc51 might not be faster than some of the modern 600's but it's a legendary motorcycle i guess any true biker with a passion for riding will want to have. I love that sound of the V twin.
I worked with a guy and he had a 954 and I got ride it. A few weeks later, I catch him again on his bike, this time he’s replaced it with an RC51. Again he was good enough to trust we a bike days old. I really liked this bike, better than the 954. Just seemed so linear in its delivery of power. In its day this was big league power and yeah you feel like your on a Aprilia or Ducati from Japan.
3:00 what i did with my windshield was remove it and spray the underside with plastidip so I could remove later, and it had a nice oem gloss finish when looking at it from aside
I'm only 17 and currently i got a 125cc bike and next year probably getting a A2 license and by watching this video i just get more and more excited until i can ride any 1000cc bike but i know it's a couple years till that moment
just am FYI, before it was stolen from me, I had an 02 Superhawk [vtr1000] and I loved it. but it didnt look right with that halfass mid fairing, so I got a sharkskinz type lower fairing to put on, and it looked so much better. totally stock with oem pipes and the aftermarket lower fairing made it look so good. but you have the rc51 so it obviously already has fullsize fairings.
I have my VTR SP 1 now 13 years its great, pc3 two brothers high mount exhaust and 132hp on the wheel.

It sounds delicious. Godspeed and safe riding.
3:00 what i did with my windshield was remove it and spray the underside with plastidip so I could remove later, and it had a nice oem gloss finish when looking at it from aside
hero, your bike sounds awesome, best one ive heard. ive got the firestorm, love its sound but the rc51 just takes it to another level enjoy it man 👍🏻
I feel happy watching you being so happy :)
I'm only 17 and currently i got a 125cc bike and next year probably getting a A2 license and by watching this video i just get more and more excited until i can ride any 1000cc bike but i know it's a couple years till that moment
Ive owed one of these and they are great. i sold it for an Aprilia RSV1000R which was even better and I still have it.
Better then my first ride on my ZX636R had to ride it 240miles from where I picked it up after 3 years of not having a bike :)
one beautiful bike, timeless, and it won't lose money like one of the latest 1000's
Enjoy !
just am FYI, before it was stolen from me, I had an 02 Superhawk [vtr1000] and I loved it. but it didnt look right with that halfass mid fairing, so I got a sharkskinz type lower fairing to put on, and it looked so much better. totally stock with oem pipes and the aftermarket lower fairing made it look so good. but you have the rc51 so it obviously already has fullsize fairings.
