  • This week, we have a very special interview with Harry "Henny" Henninger of Kennywood Park fame. The Henninger's were one of two families that purchased the park in 1906 from the Mellon family and later founded the Kennywood Entertainment Company which oversaw the park. In the interview, you'll get to hear Henny talk about the conception of Steel Phantom (now Phantom's Revenge), a hilarious story on the development of Log Jammer, and more! Enjoy!

I wonder if Kennywood would be a competitor without this mans incredible vision! I really doubt it.

Henny, you’re forever a great that came from greats and those greats largely created the industry from infancy. Henninger, Harton, Ingersol, Traver, McSwiggen, can you imagine?! Let’s all meet downtown for lunch. Thank you for being approachable. Nice. kind. Humble. Fun and genuine always. Thanks for pushing all those buttons and boundaries over the years, thank you for saving Idlewild and thank you for the Phantom. You made a dorky 11 year olds entire year by responding to his silly “pen pal” fan mail during Phantom construction. Thank you

Henny was a delightful person to work with. I directed shows there during the 1970's and 1980's for Paul Osborne and Associates. Kennywood was always a fun place and in my opinion one of the two best traditional amusement parks in the country, the other was Elitch Gardens in it's old location.

I still can't believe people have any kind of negative view of Arrow. Yes they made mistakes, but for what they had to work with they really made an impact on the theme park and coaster industry. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't even deserve to ride coasters; because let's be honest, without arrow, what would we have?

You didn't answer the question, therefore I am not obligated to answer any of your questions; not that I would anyway because I don't argue with morons, but thanks for giving me legitimate reason.
