As an elder emo, I can definitely say emo pop punk, or really emo in general isn't dead. I keep seeing Emo Nights popping up as events at local venues and I finally got to see MCR live a few months ago. Their tour seemed to really kick off the comeback of emo in general.
I know there are a lot more elder emos out there that are loving the nostalgia and the new music that's come from it, so keep it up!

I've been around for a while, but in 2008 the Emo scene was just beginning and we Goth's didn't want to share any of our identity. It was like having my little brother follow me around everywhere. Then there was the whole "Skr-Emo" music thing; however, this is different, which reminds me a little like Green Day, who I enjoyed on the side, but I would never admitted it to my friends. TX2 is far more "Post-Punk" than you guys think and I remember the original Punk scene, which was definitely something I'll never forget.
We Goth's would pay-off the Punks, in beer and booze, so all we needed to do was point and say "Kill.....!!!!" to those who picked on us. It was different back then, because it was nothing to get jumped-on, so I always carried a small dagger, just slipped inside my 40-hole Doc Marten boots.
BTW: I looked like I was 15 years old until I turned 35, so you're not alone Evan.....!!!!
