Penang is a beautiful place. I was there in last 80s. 2 years l have seen & driven around the whole island. Recently l was there at Golden Sands Hotel. 1 nite only. The whole island is OVER develop. I don't think l want to return. Down south is quieter & not clustered like Penang island. Very congested & youth are running all over the place as though there is no end of the day.

Leasehold for investment long term not really good. If for your current life for rental, then yes. 5% rental return? That is the very positive calculation. You have not take into consideration the assessment, when your electronics spoil like aircon, etc. A lot of unseen cost. I would just use the 600k if i have the capital to put in EPF to yield better return. Then if you think about next generation, they have to pay up to extend the leasehold that could cost hundreds of thousands at that area. The owner could just not renew and sell to the highest bidder developer to redevelop the land and your next generations own nothing after that.
Invest in after life. It's eternal. For me one roof over my head is more than enough. The rest serve the God Almighty. It's going to take me a long way. Earthly material is nothing compared to eternity. " You Are Dust, And Unto Dust You Shall Return."
