    My birthday is on January 6th / where is my god?
    Before I traditionally close this entry with a blessing, I would like to introduce you to the plant of the day, "Ornithogalum umbellatum", the doldy milk star, a white-flowering, hardy bulb from the lily family, popularly known as the "Star of Betlehem" . It blooms from spring to summer with a growth height of only 10 cm or with the tall species with a height of 120 cm. The flowers are cup-shaped or star-shaped and shine at dusk, hence the name, they also smell good. It belongs to the essence group of 39 classical Bach flowers according to Dr. Brook.
    In keeping with tradition, I now close this entry with a wish for a blessing, as the “housemother” in this little paper is my right!
    Epiphany slip
    In the name of Jesus I rise today
    and bow to my God with all my heart;
    the three kings
    Kaspar, Melchior and Balthasar
    be my companions.
    Do I go out or in my house
    so be heaven my protection.
    The star of the Magi lead me to the right road;
    all that I meet
    I shall not have harmful enemies
    but be sincere, good friends.
    Kaspar, Melchior and Balthasar stand by me
    in all my endeavors
    Doing and leaving,
    Trade and change,
    Walking and standing
    on water and on land;
    they want me from misfortune,
    fire and water
    And above all that which may be harmful to body and soul,
    with her mighty assistance
    guard and preserve at all times!
    I surrender to God the Father
    in God the Son I commend myself
    I immerse myself in God the Holy Spirit.
    May the most holy trinity be above me
    Kaspar, Melchior, Balthasar are with and beside me;
    these keep me,
    my house and everything I have
    now and always. (old, traditional prayer, so-called "three kings slip") With this blessing I release you into this day, stay protected and blessed!
    Midsummer
    JUNE 21, 2012/4 COMMENTS
    Summer solstice - midsummer
    Now the sun should complete
    her longest, most beautiful track,
    how she hesitates to turn
    for the calm ocean!
    Your goddess youth tendency
    feels the foreboding nature,
    and it seems to me to be meaningfully silent
    all around the evening corridor.
    Only the quail, the usual one
    early narrow wakes up the day,
    beats the monitored glimmer
    now one more alarm clock;
    and the lark rises while singing
    up from the fragrant valley,
    to swing a look
    in the already sunken beam.
    (Ludwig Uhland)
    Summer solstice - solstice - lat. Solstitium
    on June 21, 2012 at 1:09 am CEST
    the longest day and the shortest night,
    a solstice occurs twice a year, the summer solstice on June 21st and the winter solstice on December 21st.
    Near the Arctic Circle it is the day “without sunset”, midnight sun, white nights.
    Further towards the Pole, “Polar Day” prevails for weeks or months.
    (Source: Wikipedia)
    With the Celts the summer solstice was called Alban Herfin or Herfeyn and is still used today e.g. celebrated in Stonehenge.
    The midsummer celebrations in Sweden are also well-known, if you like detective novels and especially the Nordic crime novels, you will certainly know Henning Mankell's “Midsummer Murder”. Exciting! 88 |: yes:
    In all the old customs at this time it becomes clear that it is a festival of transition, what has flourished so far is now slowly ripe, at the height of summer the foreboding of the coming autumn is already evident.
    The fire has a great meaning at midsummer, it means warmth and life, the sun as the giver of life, one lights fire, midsummer fire; in order to close old things and to be able to look ahead optimistically,: yes: symbolic objects or so-called “farewell lists” are thrown into the fire in order to free oneself from the old and depressing and start a new beginning. Is a good thought, also or especially for our time today.; D
    The couples jumped over the fire and made a wish, it was also a symbol of loyalty.
    For some time now, the ritual of smoking has been rediscovered. In ancient times, smoking rituals were often performed, and the 12 nights between Christmas and Epiphany are also known for these rituals in this country.
    At the summer solstice it was traditionally 7 or 9 different herbs that were burned for smoking.
    7 is the number of the universe, the macrocosm, completeness
    9 from the almighty 3 x 3, the triple triad.
    Two examples of herbs for smoking:
    Thyme, lupulin, rosemary, mullein, spruce resin, mugwort, frankincense, St. John's wort, orange blossom.
    more traditional are:
    Alant, mugwort, verbena, meadowsweet, St. John's wort, calamus root, valerian, mistletoe, incense.
    You can of course make pretty wreaths from the herbs, in which summer flowers also have their place. : yes:
    Since it is rose month, you could of course also tie a beautiful rosary, which you can then leave to dry very well, as well as bouquets of roses, simply hang upside down when they are still fresh and let them dry, they look very nice even when dried, the color fades a little like in old photos. The outdoor roses, which are now in high season, with their strong stems are best suited for this, as the rose heads do not kink!
    And since we are all soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooctiveloredweather, I'm trying to lure him with a wonderful recipe for a rose punch, which goes so well with midsummer, a mild evening, maybe fireflies, atmospheric candle lighting and everything is perfect !: yes: :))
    Rose punch
    Ingredients: 1 good handful of fragrant rose petals
    1l rose wine
    1 bottle of rose sparkling wine Sprinkle the rose petals with sugar (to taste), pour 1/4 l of rose wine and let it steep overnight.
    Strain, pour in the rest of the rose wine, add the sparkling wine just before serving and sprinkle with a few rose petals.
    Since midsummer is unfortunately not on a weekend this year,: no: you can make up for it next weekend, maybe the weather will play a role until then,: ??: and maybe WE have won again (Friday! ): yes :: yes :: yes: and that would be three reasons to celebrate!
