Both spots that spawn the Stormbird can respawn them quickly. The mountain spot is the fastest farm location since killing the Dreadwing and Stormbird can make the Slaughterspine respawn and vice versa.
Hopefully one day they'll give us a variant of the Strombird based on the Phoenix, they could name it Flamebird or Firestrom. Fighting against a Strombird that has fire attacks would fun.

I would add a lesser known way to "dodge" the Stormbird Electrical-field at 5:03, when Aloy is really close to get hit. just dodge into it!, You'll get no damage, since Aloy dodge move make her invurnable for the first second(~). Plus on top of that the Stormbird will go back because of it's now cancelled move, giving you more time to reload your bows or attack it. Great video, my favorite machine is the Stormbird, I've fought over 1000 of them on HZD and still learned from your video 👍🏹

I thought it was epic watching the storm bird fight the slaughter spine, only to then watch it take on a dread wing in aerial combat. Holy crap that was awesome.
Thats some pretty impressive battles. I remember using corrosion on the glinthawks in zero dawn and they just circled each other with an occasional breath weapon never hitting. This is how it should be.
I feel like one of the reasons why the stormbird won against the slaughterspine is the game programming You see, the NPCs tend to not care what kind of enemy they're facing, and in the machine fights it's seen the best. Since they behave the same as if they were fighting Aloy, causing them to get too close to each other and not keeping the distance from each other. In case with air vs ground machine battles, it's mostly the ground machine not doing anything, because it needs some time to process what's happening (because it appears that none of the NPCs in Horizon game are adapted or simply programmed for anti-air combat) This is one of my few complaints about Forbidden West (and Zero Dawn too), and that is the AI ignoring the type of enemy. If they didn't, it would be very likely that the battling machines would try to keep the distance from each other, more than that, the slaughterspine would've also used its "missiles" and the tail lasers against the stormbird more often (same when facing a dreadwing or a pack of glinthawks)

You can test it on the ravager using his canon to take out glinthawks and if you watched the PC fights you can notice thunderjaws using their weapons against stormbirds destroying them every times even overriden stormbirds lose to normal thunderjaws
Fantastic video as always. I think the Stormbird was kinda bugged in my version of the game (it was extremely passive and would sometimes just... fly away entirely? Like that quest with the Stormbird up on the mountain, it took forever to do because the Stormbird kept flying away...) so it was fantastic to see it in true glorious motion here!
Oh yeah it’s pretty bugged in mine as well. I should actually post a video on how to easily cheese one to farm resources. At the SF site, if you destroy the Storm cannon just as it first approaches, then detonate a chill water canister while it’s immobilized, it will just sit there once it gets back up. I used that bug for the first picture in the video

Great video as always my only suggestion for the machine matchup fights is that overridden machines get several boosts in the form of hp, damage and elemental increases. To remedy this when i go to set two types of machines to fight i find the most fair way to do it is by pitting an overridden machine against an apex variant of its opponent, as apexs have a similar hp, damage, and elemental effect buffs that overridden machines gain. Thats why i think the Stormbird mopped the floor with that Slaughterspine because that Slaughterspine was just a regular one and was at a severe disadvantage in attack power, elemental resistance, and hp. The best proof of this is in your most recent machine catalog of the rollerback. Having an regular overridden one fight an apex one is the best one to one comparison. And the results of the fight were super close which is why when i go to test machine against one another i always pit the overridden against an apex as they are roughly equivalent to one another

Its not even hard to test it either just go anywhere where there's two of the exact same machine and override one and 9 times outta ten yours will win. Which is why when i wanna get the most comprehensive results i always pit an overridden one with a daemonic one (for HZD) or and apex (for HFW) as their boosts are roughly equivalent across the board.

It’s the Tenakth Recon armor set! You can buy it from the outfit merchant in Thornmarsh. I like it for these videos because it allows me to override machines for an indefinite amount of time, and provides more stealth. I do have an uncut playthrough on my channel, however I didn’t provide any commentary at all. It’s just a raw unedited playthrough
The Slaughterspine has metalbite sacs located on each shoulder. The Stormbird has such good aim, it was able to get a direct hit on those metalbite sacs and cause the corrosive state haha
You need an outfit like the Tenakth Recon that grants +2 to lasting machine override as well as the 2 perks associated with lasting machine override. Once those are stacked, any override will be indefinite

That’s very true! Two aerial machines are a closer matchup than an aerial vs land any day!
