Breaking it down for you: Albretch Entrati is THE most important researcher of the whole story, he’s the first one to ever travel to the void and encounter the same entity that we call The Man in The Wall. Albretch after this traumatic encounter he designed and created almost all of the void technology the Orokin (and us) used, but he knew that the Man in the Wall was still lurking as an ever present danger, and made preparations in the future to contain him, including keeping tabs on our future selves as we are the key to stop Wally, ultimately his preparations made him travel back in time to the year 1999 where a very important even it’s about to happen, leaving behind friends, family and even a lover (Loid) behind. Fast foward to us, we were called by NecraLoid to awaken Albretch’s assistant (Actual Loid) along with other animals that were also test subjects for the void technology (The Cavia), they call us since The Man in the Wall influence in the real world is growing exponentially dangerous and now the Entrati Labs have become a fortress to keep Wally and his envoys (the Murmur) at bay. And the reason why they’re attacking with such ferocity is because Loid’s conflicted feelings are attracting the void forces, the void is VERY sensible to emotions, so we stopped the assault using a memory of Albretch’s and Loid’s love (and yes they where in love) to soothe the murmur away, if only for now. In the middle of all of this, we get a glimpse of 1999 (Proto Excal segment), as a premonitory vision of a past gone wrong with Wally in the shape of Albretch presumably destroying reality as the year ends, now our next mission it’s to find a way to go back in time and change the past and prevent this catastrophe from happening.
