Hello Zack Lucy covered this Whitney song 3 years ago, what an amazing cover she has done especially adding the Saxaphone to the song which makes it sound even better. Tomorrow night Lucy's big night she will be performing in the West End London Live it will be her first big musical night on stage in a major theatre in the UK singing what she was born to do Musical Theatre all the great songs from all the great Musicals from the past. Zack, Besides all your accolades about Lucy, one thing that really affects me is the last two notes. After all the power there's something about Lucy dropping back to a very sweet, smooth, and perfect last note. She does that on a lot of her renditions and for some reason it's like the cherry on top to me.

For me, this is not a Whitney Houston song. It was written by Dolly Parton. It was made famous by Dolly long before Whitney came along. I grew up listening to Dolly sing this song. Yes, Whitney took the song and brought it to a new audience. For my preference in this song, Lucy is number one. Dolly is number two and Whitney is number three. However, since Dolly is the creator and first artist to have a hit with this song, it will always be a Dolly Parton song. Now, in saying this I do not intend to diminish the greatness of Whitney Houston. But I do want to give credit where credit is due.

Thank you for this response where you were clearly struggling to compare Whitney and Lucy. You did a fine job of that comparison. Lucy has become a phenomenal singer. Many liked Whitney but their styles are different. Lucy sang this beautifully. I think that Dolly would like Lucy’s rendition as it is beautiful and delicate and tender like Dolly intended for it to be. Another brilliant performance by a teenager. She only gets better and more amazing. Lucy is a rising star whose brilliance will only increase after her concert in two on 22 October in the West End in London. Thank you again.
I really don't like to compare artists. I'd much rather appreciate them individually for what they are uniquely great at!
