- Is Photoshop Lagging Due to a Ton of Layers? Here's an easy fix to run Photoshop super fast and buttery smooth, still keeping all of the layers. In this tutorial, learn the basic concepts of document sizes and how they work.
Whether you are working on a composite or retouching an image, along the way, we might create a massive amount of layers which may lead to lagging and slowing down of Photoshop. This fix allows you to get the speed back without merging or rasterizing the layers. Thus, keeping it all non-destructive!
Hope this tutorial helps. Thank you for watching :)

You solved the biggest problem of mine that I am having from few months. You are really amazing.
This really helps explain the overall concept of smart objects AND how the final file size of an image is determined. Great video!
Love your content you ar the best photoshop channel
Can you please explain all formats used in Photoshop. (Eps, TIFF, Jpeg 2000 etc....)
Yes. That would be great
U stole my words man. Great Point for Unmesh.
please do it :D
jpeg 2000 is for old formats not usually supported that you can open in apps, TIFF is a web file system they thought would be a good way to store dense file sizes to a 1kb file size for easy and fast data transfers through emails (no one ever figured out how to use it, and no one bothered to program the file system in their software development because of the complicated system it was)
Great video and love your tips and tricks.
Nice trick to keep the workflow! had to think for a couple of seconds how to best implemented... in a useful way. really cool!

Amazing. Thanks.
Really clever, thanks!
Already know this trick when i became crazy to make a compositing in a big banner.. but nice sharing.. you're always the best teacher for mee..
Amazing...Thank u very much Sir
this is great, when I paint something and use custom brushes they tend to lag a lot. Now I know that performance settings might not be the real issue. Thanks.
The speed improvement is understandable - a smart object is rendered into a single layer on save, so PS has actually only to deal with a simple image, not with complex rendering operations. It might help on slower machines even with a view layers. Very, very neat trick, thanks for sharing!
Not everything you show is important for ME. but I like your videos so much, that I watch them, as often as I can. You are very smart and it is amazing, what you are teaching to the community ... THX!!!

Nice trick sir. Wonderful.
Just started playing around with photoshop a little while ago, on a more serious level that is, been watching your videos along with others and wanted to thanks first of all...
I'm hoping to repay some of the advice I've taken from you by sharing something I don't see talked about but came up with the idea while watching this video.
I have an older computer not as powerful so when working on large images and using the magic wand things grind, I've emptied the cache and everything else so I'm pretty sure it's hardware and performance limitations...
To get around this, I make a stamp visible layer, convert to a smart object, enter the smart object and reduce resolution, then make my selection, invert delete everything else and save, when I go back to the original tab all I have to do is ctrl-click the smart object to transfer the selection...
I can't repay the amount of advice I've taken from you but hopefully this one is a new one for you ;)
really really amazing trick ... thanks a lot :)
