    was a surg tech back in the 80s. shredout into urology and its a good job in the military. cons of the job are standing on your feet for long times in surgery.two, three, four hours long standing in one spot . some surgeons are dicks and you have to take shit from them,some are pretty cool so it depends. i did surgery on tuesday and thursday and the other days u are in the urology clinic doing out patient procedures and checking in patients. the hours were from 7 am to 4:30 pm. we did not work on weekends. the afsc code has changed. we were 90252 -b urology.. overall its good duty and u learn a lot and job ops are good on the outside. i worked in surgery when i got out back in 1989.

      You set broken bones and see a lot of blood?

    • @thesinlife12
      @thesinlife12 7 років тому +10

      Yes you do. Not all services are super bloody or you see a lot of broken bones. For example if you are in a amputation or c-section case you will see a ton of blood. If you are in a orthopedic case such as total knees you will see bones and watch as they take out the patella with a drill and put a new one in, some cases are laparoscopic meaning that they do it thru a scope inserted into the body and you see very minimal blood. its really amazing stuff and I love my job.

      Guillermo Caycho I just signed my contract for this in the AF reserves. I am really thankful and feel so blessed. How was your training (tech school)? Did you have any experience in medicine beforehand?

      J Kidd your going to fort sam which is like 15 mins away from lackland. You share a room with one other roommate you go to school mon-fri 6am-5pm and on pt days 4:40 am to 5pm weekends are all yours. My class had 70 people 6 which were AF like 10 navy and the rest were Army, around 50 graduated. It you have to learn fast and memorize a lot of instruments. I didnt have any experience with medicine before hand.
