$180 M loss just to kill all interest in Star Wars, destroy the lore, emasculate the men, and gleefully say that this putrid piece of garbage is a supposed HIT?! 3 episodes to go, and they want to reboot and/or have season 2 of The Acolyte greenlit already WHAT?!? Utter madness. Anna, don't let your baby see this EVER. 😟
I'll bet you a nickel and bragging rights, that the Acoshyte season 2 is already done and scrapbooked because the constantly lying show runner keeps changing her story but so far hasn't contradicted that she saw the Qimir actor _in season 2_ and moved him up into season 1. Pay no mind that supposibly lesbicans aren't attracted to men.
Not cannon tv series… bye bye bye… I will not watch the show a second time…. Disney producers and market team has failed to know fan base who watch Original Star Wars origins. Disney seems to think Star Wars fans are not intelligent… Disney thinks Star Wars fans are numb or dumb…. Vote with our wallet…. Lose, Lose, Lose … not our problem Disney… my money stays in my pocket.

And do you recall the only reason the apothecary dude wasn't arrested for accessory to murdering a Jedi earlier? Because the Jedi let him off with a warning against all logic. Because the writers weren't smart enough to find a better way of dealing with that whole mess.

Acolyte's real big reveal is that there was no master plan that made anything in the show make sense. It was all an empty mystery box full of illogical contrivances, such as stone that readily burns, or the power of many turning out to be a massive weakness.

Don't be so exclusive: the Head has the mind of a three year old as well, not just messed up insanity from her upbringing (which may be genetic too). You can be as dumb as a box of rocks, and be insane too, they're not mutually exclusive. Whatever tf this show was, it seems they recorded various scenes, put them in a scrapbook and threw them against a wall, and picked them up in no obvious order and put it in their video editor and voila. They ESG and DIE'D. How exactly is a company 10s of billions in debt still an ongoing concern? This has to be a gov't operation and/or a BlackRock, Vanguard, State Street, Fidelity funded one... BlackRock has posted a 1st quarter lost in the trillion dolla range. Only other people's money, so who gives af, right?

Perfect example - in The Phantom Menace both Qui Gonn and Obi Wan fought Darth Maul together and held him at bay until Obi Wan got separated. Imagine if they had 3 or 4 more Jedi with them. Darth Maul wouldn't have a chance.
Another perfect example - Anakin lost his arm to Count Dooku because he rushed in on his own.
Of course, these are examples from when George Lucas was still in charge and Star Wars was good.

@That Star Wars Girl Anna, the map really put things into perspective, showing how it all didn't make sense. The more I watched this show, the more confused I got. And the reveal, Qimir...well he looked more menacing without his helmet. I kept face palming my head so many times that my forehead was so sore. I didn't care about the carnage of the Jedi in this show ( unlike how I felt when I watched order 66) and the lightsaber duels were most definitely not the quality of the prequels. I have so many questions:
. How could Yord run after his leg was slashed by the saber ( Mando accidentally hurt himself with his darksaber and could only limp). Why did Sol suddenly refer to Osha as a civilian? Why did Yord call Jeckie a Jedi but she isn't a Jedi . Jecki must be a superhero padawan because she could take on Mae and the sith Qimir for a while, unlike Master Indara and the other Jedi knights , who are meant to be in their prime, died quite quickly and elbow off Sith Qimir's helmet with ease . The fight between Mae and Jeckie was too long, it was ridiculous to hear Jeckie sound like the NYPD say you are under arrest in the middle of fighting Mae . Absurd scenes- Mae cutting her hair with her saber, parent trap like trope of twin swapping and Mae's flip flopping from bad to good to bad , Qimir being taken away by the moths, why didn't Qimir force push the moths away and why didn't the moths sense the fighting lightsabers?. Why didn't the Jedi, especially Sol and Mae sense the darkness of Qimir in the first place, is. Jeckie and Sol acted very unjedi like, aggressive and with much anger/hate when fighting with Sith Qimir . Why didn't Sol kill Qimir upon learning he is a Sith after killing his team , yet Yoda sent Obi Wan to kill Anakin. Do Sith now force heal? Why did Sol leave the bodies of the Jedi behind? Wouldn't Yoda and the Jedi council sense all of this, a disturbance in the force?. I rest my case about the stupidity of this show.
By refusing to watch this show is a show of respect for George Lucas's Star Wars.
Headland took the money for her and her wife to take some young actresses on an all expenses paid trip to a private island for some "Acting Lessons."
Fun fact: UA-camrs have made more money from the Acolshyte than Disney ever will... it's Disney's way of paying it forward I suppose

Most of the budget for sure went into paying the actors and to Kennedy and Headland. All the locations together, the jedi temple, the bar in episode 1, the ship, the shop, also the costumes, is max a million.
I bet, for camera teams, travel, hotel and food and production, it's 5 million.
So 1 million costumes
+ 5 million camera, extras, food, travel and things like that
+5 million cheap CGI and edeting
+ 2 million lead actor
+ 1 million Sol, Smilo and Trinity each
+ 1 million for all other characters, not Headland's wife.
+ 500k for each writer, 8 writers.
That would be 21 million. A few million went into advertisment, the rest went to Headland, Kennedy, most likely also Feloni and Headland's wife 🤷♂️

This is the episode where I stop watching, at that point I saw some people saying this was the best episode so far 🤨 and I was like did we watch the same thing?
I've watched way too many of these reviews and that was good & fun. I particularly agree on the rediculous fight scenes which even some sceptics seem to think are good. I have done some weapons training and think you are right. I have to think of them as glowstick dances.

gross profit(money left after production costs) of disney is over 30b(30000mil), in a year, do you think they notice 180mil wasted? Its like for us burning a $1 note or throwing away a coin or two.

Given that there we EIGHT Jedi there, at least 3 were Jedi Knights and master squid boy. Are you telling me that the only one capable of holding their own was the Padawan. Not one had the intelligence to have more than one of them use a power on crapgrinoren at the same time. A simple push, pull and hit with an object at the same time, while the others moved in would have been impossible to defend against.
It's just so so dumb I actually find it insulting to basic human intelligence. We have created Galactic sized empires, mastered space travel, learned to commune with a Universal energy, we can feel and sense the feelings of others (including those trained likewise standing inches from us) but we are too stupid to launch a coordinated attack on a single assailant.
I have never seen a show or movie that I visceral hate. Impressive really.
I don't understand the complete passivity of the protagonist Osha, *except* the one plot-changing decision she makes being begging Squidgames to spare the villain so she can do her flashlight thing with the moths. This is an evil Sith lord who's murdered her friends. She has absolutely no reason to intervene on his behalf. Squidgames has no reason to comply with her demand. This is bonkers and only happens so the rest of the plot can take place.
That's everything in this show. Like who would walk across a split in half bridge. Plot needs to move forward.

That was just a cheap misdirect. You can see the writer throwing that in the last minute. Because they forgot. The helmet blocks force powers. That was just him referencing when Sol met him in episode 2. The shows so bad. You forget scenes happen.

The outfits are right out of the disney srore. The sets are so small, dark and comfined. Compare that to House of the dragon with almost same budget.....

This whole episode is summed up by the fact that nobody remembered one of the most iconic lines in the very first star wars movie. "Use the Force, Luke!" Apparently Luke Skywalker and everything about him is what Lucas Film avoids nowadays.

that remember me the fight of Master Windo vs Palpadine when Palpadine he butcher the other jedis unrealistic way. and very bad camera angles then Mace windo did very well alone againts palpadine ... it was bad.
I’m a huge Star Wars. I remember back when seeing EP IV way back then. My fault did not know anything about the books until nearly 20yrs after watching IV. Since then, I have nearly a 100 in books, comics & ebooks (take to Iraq).
I have watched some really good commentaries to the current Star Wars what is now DSW which is a pale form of GL had created. (Forgiveness for grammatical errors)
I want to comment on this poorly created show from a true SW historian and why it does not work.
Why this show will not work Acolyte (the joke of DSW shows and movies). They claim we know nothing of SW. We just do not know DSW which is not GL true work, like I say…paaaaaaaaale…version.
1. The show is set 100ys before EP I. This does not work due to it being referenced as High Republic. If the High Republic, I believed it to be the early years way before Bane, way before any of the Sith Wars. If the story was flesh out more with more character development. I would have developed a 10 book story to really create a truly developed story before bringing it down to a tv format to designate 1 or two books to be the first series depending upon the creative writer. Apparently, Headland was not this. Getting back to the timeline of the days of the High/Old Republic. The reason it should not be a 100yrs into the past. After the events of the Darth Bane Trilogy, the intelligence network was set up and most like financial savings beginning to develop. This is the start of corruption of the republic, ever be so small (like snowball effect starts with a pebble. By the time this show comes up in the timeline, the corruption level is very high due to the generations of the rule of two Darths. They would have maneuvered people into many different positions to promote the efforts to take over the galaxy whether it would be soon or another 1000 years. Reading some of the books and EP1 being a source, it would seem to be a Master and Apprentice, not a group which would be seen as aggression. Many millenniums of dealing with people certain protocols were setup and two was only needed.
2. Flashiness of the Jedi, during the Bane book 1 had shown certain Jedi members who were flashy compared to the time period of EP1. This show would not work. Most likely work more in the early years of the Republic due to being in flashy robes would fit to distinguish themselves as Jedi or Guardians of the Galaxy.
3. Jedi Masters being gullible or evil. The Jedi had been around for many millenniums. To say that Jedi are dumb after so many cases of how to deal in interjecting with different people and the procurement of future padawans. Today being a Master for many hundred years and suddenly doing evil would make Yoda more susceptible to becoming a sith if ever did something like this. The Jedi itself are not perfect, they fight against their own feelings that are harmful and corruptible and becoming seduced by the dark side, especially anger. Example: Kenobie was not anger at the seen of his master being killed in front of him, would be wrong. Him not using some of that anger to push to not only fight this antagonist, but to bring an into him. He just did not rely on it solely due to his breathing and calming his mind. Anger still lingers despite the efforts, but it is not solely used to urge him to fight. It dissipates afterwards and most likely he learned from his mistake and grew from this. The last scene of him with Maul where he watch him go through three different stances is one where he was with Gui-Gon and the last is his more mature stance where wisdom and reliance on the force was paramount.
4. This new group of a’ la witches. Most likely Jedi would have nothing to do with them, basically leaving them alone and isolated. Proof: The Planet Dathomir in particular is an example. Most likely the Jedi knew of the Nightsisters and Yoda would have known of them. If they presented themselves as a problem, there would have annihilate them, but bring about a black mark upon the Jedi. It is possible being under the guidance of the government, it was not the best of ideas. During the Tenebrous and Plagueis years, certain individuals would be in placed and guided to have Dothomir from being invaded or inspected. They would could have kidnapped nightsisters over the years to experiment on the midichlorians. Darth Tenebrous would have sent Plagueis to prove himself to investigate and kill pretenders of the mantle of the sith. They be utterly decimated and maybe their history erased as though they never existed considering the planet Kamino was hidden greatly.
There’s probably more, but that is it for now.
You know starwars is in the trash when you get more emotion and hype watching old republic video game cutscenes, which is way more than what you get in the new bs film or tv shows smh

You should acquaint with some sword fighting experts and reenactors just to see what it is about. I don't ask you to like it or practice it on a regular basis or become an expert but you will still learn a lot of things. You could learn how to illustrate correct positioning, etc.
I'm no amateur of this myself but watching some real practitionners of the thing is still interesting.
This show is a nightmare to watch apparently, don't strain yourself.
And I can't believe they aren't willingly spending all that money on a propaganda operation to destroy our culture, just like the Soviets wanted to.
