- It's Stashin' with Stephanie time, where we take a brand new modern fabric line and create a pattern just for it. This month we are working with the beautiful Summer Sampler bundle by Nancy Nicholson for Clothworks.
I just love the sweet butterflies, birds and flowers. And we are strategically placing the fabrics according to color value to make them shine.
We will be sewing a first for the Stashin' with Stephanie patterns, and will be making four-at-a-time no-waste flying geese. Don't let that scare you. I break it down in the video tutorial to make it super easy. This is my preferred way to make flying geese because it is fast and super accurate.
I've also designed this month's pattern so there are minimal seams to match within the blocks so you can complete the quilt quickly. And I give you my best tips for creating fabulous points every time. It's all packed in our video tutorial that you can watch for FREE, to make sure your quilt turns out fabulous.

I have watched a lot of videos on quilting and I think that is the most in depth correct way to get exact blocks I've ever seen Amazing live your work
Thank you so much! Glad you found it helpful.
Thank you for such a thorough explanation of where, how and why to pin. More than one lightbulb went off in my head while watching your tutorial!
Love it !
Those birds! 🤩 And the only way I make flying geese anymore is this no-waste method. So. Much. Easier.
For sure! It is so much better than stitch and flip!
Good explanation of colorways and the fabric printing process. Insightful!
I love the no waste method for flying geese! I am making a star quilt and it really saves me time and fabric!

Thank you Stephine. Chris-Raleigh NC
I've just found your tutorials -- but I skipped ahead to make sure you'd stopped the music. Thank you, thank you - not sure I could take anymore - and you are really good.
Loved the way you explained and sew. I wish you had a camera over your sewing machine.
Ok, so I need to thank you. I came across your video by chance and holy bananasI think the universesent it to me. I am working on a quilt and I keep making the blocks wrong, they are coming out just a little bit too small. I'm totally going to try doing a scant 1/4" and see if that makes it better. I love how the universe helps you with things when you listen.
Fabulous! We are all about giving you the tools to have more accurate quilting. Good luck.
Is there a chart showing which size squares you use for different size flying geese? Wonderful process
The measurements are included in the pattern we created for this quilt: shop.quiltaddictsanonymous.com/product/cross-dot-pdf-download/
But the general rule of thumb is to add 1.25 to the finished width of the flying geese unit to get the size of the big square, and .875 inches to the size of the finished height to get the size of the small squares.
For any size flying geese block, make "geese" square 1 1/4" inch larger and background squares 7/8" larger. Example: for a 2" x 4" finished block make geese square 5 1/4" square and background squares 2 7/8" square.
👍❤️😊
How do you know how big to make the white squares?
All of the cutting instructions are available in the pattern: shop.quiltaddictsanonymous.com/product/cross-dot-pdf-download/
This works for any size flying geese.
Cut larger square 1 1/4" larger and background squares 7/8" larger.
Example: for a 2" x 4" unit, cut larger square 5 1/4" square and background squares 2 7/8" square.
Do you send to Uk
Not right now. Delivery times are still very slow because of the pandemic, so we are holding off until things get better.
Is this kit still available?
This kit is long gone! I'm sorry! The pattern is available in Stephanie's book: shop.quiltaddictsanonymous.com/product/fat-quarter-patchwork-quilts-new-release-join-waitlist-now/
