Great video. I went to the De La Salle in the late sixties. The Deela. We would be marched down to St Canice's two by two to confess our sins to the priest in those confession boxes. Scary! My mum worked for years in Everite jewellers next to super Quinn I used to get a little summer job there when I was in school putting the stuff in the window in the morning and writing up the watch repairs and putting them in little brown envelopes. Loved it. Butch Moore was a great singer. His mum and dad lived on our street.

I turned 61 on June 19. 2021. Born in Hollis St Hospital, raised in a wonderful warm and loving family, and educated by mostly fabulous teachers in Finglas West. Thank you for the superb montage of photos, and the wonderfully apt sound track. I don't possess a time machine, but they were the next best thing. I lament for my daughter's and grandchildren. I know and believe they will live live happy and fulfilling lives, but. They will never know what it was like to live the most innocent of lives and years. Thank you to all my family, neighbours, teachers, school palls and friends. What a time. No Social Media. No Cell Phones, no reality TV. No facile distractions. Just real relationships with real people. I will not claim they were all sweet and pleasant, but. They were all all real and direct one on one.. Thank you to all who were part of my growing up in a special time and place. Looking back there are very few things I would change.😘🤝🙏

I worked in the Drake as a lounge boy and later returned as a band keyboardist. I had my picture taken with Frankie Vaughan and 50 other staff when I was about 16 in 1972. When I look at The Drake building now, it's sad. People of Finglas and much further queued at 7pm to get a seat to watch Billy Hughes and the D-Jays, Sonny Knowles, Frank Ifield and all the big names. I'm glad to say that some of us are still around and still playing music and can be found around the corner in the Shamrock.

Love the closing picture of the dog that used to live on the hill opposite Premier Dairies. When I would come home on holidays from overseas, I took my kids past there to see him, they were really fascinated about the dog living on his own and the whole of Finglas feeding him. Actually, they could never get over the fact that dogs roamed freely in Finglas, unlike in the States they would be picked up and put in the pound.

I like many others invaded Finglas West in the 60´s. I moved from old Cabra West . I was a young teenager and had just left Primary School and went on to St Michael´s. The move was necessary after the death of my Mam. So on a personal level it was a historical move but for the Finglasers it must have seemed as if the heart of finglas was torn out by these new comers. For those Finglasers who opened up their hearts to us, I thank thee and may Finglas go down in History.

Great to see old Finglas as I remember it when growing up there in the 60's and 70's - until developers ripped the heart out of the place. Nice to see Mr Lawlor's milk cart & horse at 8:30 (he kept his horse in the field behind McKee Road), Archer's Texaco garage (9:55), Mrs Fagan's shop (13:13) (where we used to buy penny-bags of sweets) and who can ever forget the Saturday matinees at the Casino (29:35).

Still working on it Damien, - I changed many aspects of Part 2 after having conversations with senior citizens over the past couple of years. A lot of the older folk in Finglas moved here from surrounding areas, so I'm trying to expand the location of the images (by request) ..... but at the same time keep it Finglas based. - No time of arrival yet, stay tuned. Thanks.
