The shear raw power these men have. I respect all levels of fitness, however being this heavy and being able to push your body that high off the ground in a push up position that's simply amazing. Crazy feat of strength.
@@Linkous12 maybe? I have to hold on to a small weight to tip my centre of gravity forward when doing them on the ground whereas on a soft box/bosu I can get there easy.
I think it’s very evident that most people don’t understand the concepts of strongman training and how it really encompasses a lot of qualities of strength. You can’t be a high level competitor in strongman without being able to move not only heavy implements but your own body as well. The sport is more dynamic than people perceive.
Yup. They move extremely well for their size. Many of the recent greats also came over from basketball or swimming. Thor, Brian, Eddie, just to name a few. So clearly they are far more dynamic than people think. Plus, when you're capable of shifting and lifting tons, your entire body becomes a machine. Even if they don't train specifically for stuff like this, they can still lift and push up hundreds of kilograms.
@bashdamonkey many of them weigh 400lb. Body weight exercises don't scale by bodyweight. That's why you don't see large men doing calisthenics. I have seen Martins Licis do clapping pull ups though. But he "only" weighs about 330lb.
These guys are definitely extremely powerful in most lifts and body movement. They lack some flexibility due to their muscle size which is why they couldn't do stuff like pull ups even though they have more than enough strength to do it.
@@Johnnythefirst I love brian and eddie but they definitely don't do full ROM pullups lmao, But then again i don't think its even physically possible to do a perfect pull up when you are that ridiculously big.
@@henrycooper4213 They are not too heavy for their weight. I literally can almost pull up their weight even though I'm like 150 lbs. You can't tell me that my strength is anywhere near their strength.
The fact that these guys are both overall strongest, AND strongest for their weight, shows how supreme they are. World's strongest men are the strongest in EVERY way. The true heroes of our age.
I was also practicing for pistol squats, seriously man I was not able to do it in first place but after one week's training doing it for 20 supported raps today I finally did it with both legs, proper form and got down till the end and without any support I get back to the starting position, man I'm so happy right now I can't tell you
Tom actually jumped higher at 5:57 - you measure to the ankle because if both just rotate they feet downwards Tom is higher. So the jump has taken Tom higher.
It’s not even the correct way to measure because both can have slight bending of the knees or hips. Measurements are always against the wall hand out stretched then any mark above that. Stupid test.
The fact that the stoltmans were able to pretty much match those young light guys in the sprint at the end is truly impressive. Lukes about 40 as well. really impressive speed for such giants
it always blows my mind that as strong as these guys are, sometimes having all that height and weight is counterproductive for certain exercises or mainly calisthenics
i'm 145kg. I've been going to the gym for 5 months, and i've gone from not being able to do pushups to being able to do like 5, which is still pathetic but it's something. I think i still can't do pullups, but i haven't tried. the road ahead is long, but the results are coming fast. i went from like dying to do 3 sets of 15 abdominals to just doing 200 straight without any issues. my warmup used to be super light on the elliptical with very little load, then for a while i switched to max load, then the eliptical in my gym kinda broke because of me abusing it every day at max load, and now i'm climbing 40~45 floors worth of stairs for warmup. can't wait to break that one too. i've doubled my biceps weights (from 7 to 14kg) and that keeps increasing. My leg press i think started at 80 and it's 240kg now. all of these are done in 3 sets of 15, because it's technically a cardio-focused training program. I'm going to start to take supplements literally today because i've been running out of energy too often in the gym. like, my body simply runs out. Because i'm trying to lose weight as i train and gain muscle, i don't eat enough to supply the energy i need there :( I started at 94kg muscle mass, i have no idea how much i have now, but it's probably approaching 100kg considering the visible changes in my silhouette
That's not true at all these guys have an average of 20 to 35% body fat. Mass to move mass they use stomach and thigh "padding" for the competitions nowadays. If they were mostly muscle, they wouldn't be nearly as capable...
@@TheBudgetguy_K.Teveryone knows that fat protects the joins so you're right,if they were more ripped they would be weaker and more likely to injure themselfs

Strongmen have a bunch of things that make it hard. First, they are tall, which means they need travel a greater distance for 1 rep, and their leverage is worse. Second, they weight a lot. Third, Strong Men lift heavy things, but the pull up motion isn't used in any of the events, so those muscles are (very relatively) underdeveloped.

Absolutely nobody messes with guys that size, they are always chiiled
