    Cathedrals in ireland are not very ornate because most of the cathedrals are protestant although ireland is or was 90% catholic,most of the old cathedrals were taken over by Anglican church during british rule,the anglican church being a protestant church prefer there churches to be more basic.The catholic cathedrals in ireland also have more severe because they are more modern.Galway cathedral which is a catholic cathedral may look medieval but it was built in the early 20th century

      We actually enjoyed how “down to earth” the cathedrals were in Ireland. Some of the religious institutions in Italy were so ridiculously over the top. Cheers and happy travels friend!

    You caught a snap of the " Holiday Hotel " in Salthill. I was reared there and it was known as " Reillys Hotel" . It was part of my family from around 1900 until it was sold in 1975. The building beside it was a pub called O Learys , that too was sold about 25 years ago. What memories they bring back, even though I still live in Galway. I just wanted to share a little history with you .
