He is a great player , and it's great to see exciting , flamboyant players like Brecel lift the sports biggest prizes,....his risk taking and amazing shot making remind me of the late great Alex" hurricane" higgins ....his swashbuckling approach will probably restrict from being a serial tournament winner ,...like it did with Higgins ,...but the energy and excitement he generates is priceless,... with his dazzling playing style means he will always have many, many fans ,...and when he is in top form will win a fair share of 🏆 trophies,..

Congratulations to Luca, one of the most talented players I've ever seen, wonderful shotmaker, fantastic to see someone from Belgium lift the trophy!
He played over 130 frames during those five matches.
When his opponents played amazing and got huge leads he found another gear and came back so hard that they went from potting everything to struggling, and he steamrolled them.
When he had big leads and his opponents did the same to him and grabbed the momentum... He lifted again and put them away.
The manner in which he played will be the most memorable part. He was relentless.He had a consistent rhythm and he was playing clean up the whole two weeks. When the frames were won, he entertained. When they were close... He entertained.
He beat 3 World Champions with 14:World titles between them and he so fully deserves his place beside them.
Congratulations Luca and congratulations to Belgium, I hope you're all celebrating! It was beautiful to watch, heart stopping at points and looked like Selby might just do it but you picked yourself up and absolutely smashed it, incredibly well played 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

The "Luca Snooker" was so delightful to watch. No wonder Ronnie was so full of gushing praise for him, after his loss to him. His swashbuckling, cavalier style is so easy on the eye, but he became world champion, because it was backed up but some great safety play, and having massive bottle. When Mark pulled him back to 16-15, I thought he'd blown his chance, but he held his nerve under huge pressure to come through. Selby deserves so much praise for how he kept applying huge pressure to Luca, and his graciousness in defeat. And Luca sending love to Mark's family was so touching and lovely to see. Luca more than lived up to his "Belgian Bullet" nickname, what a player, absolutely loved watching him over the past two weeks, congrats to him! 🎉🎊
Luca Snooker is incredible such a natural talent.
He truly deserved this. He played exceptionally well, he made his friends and family proud. That's something, becoming the first Belgian player ever to win the championship. My hat's off to the guy.

As a long time snooker fan from Belgium, it's been a rollercoaster watching Luca come onto the tour and trying to cope with the heavy expectations that come with his immense talent. I'm very happy for him and for snooker in our country. I hope this spawns more clubs and doesn't just mean I have a more difficult time finding a free table at mine 😅

Another Belgian here. It was an eye-watering experience to see him beat the players who I have all seen becoming world champion somewhere in the recent past (apart from Si, of course). To me personally, this is the greatest sport event I have watched in my life.
I've never been more happy to see a player become world snooker champion as he does things HIS way. Plays the game how he wants, attacks like nobody I've ever seen. Does it with style of play more players should do as the game can be boring. Wanna see Luca play like this all the time & win more tournaments as he's shown he can clearly do it. Only in his 20's so has many years left in him. Well done Luca, fully deserved.

Absolutely fantastic stuff. I loved that he started celebrating during the break once he knew the frame was secure, great to see that emotion and see what it means to him. So rare for someone to win the world championship from outside the usual experienced favourites, refreshing and inspiring to see.

Luca plays with an action that is like a well oiled machine. In forty years I've never witnessed such smoothness. And combine that with an attacking (dare I say it "entertaining") style of play that has been missing from the sport for some time, and we have a real breath of fresh air. Congratulations to the young man. We will be seeing a lot more of him for years to come I think. Bravo.

100% agreed. Been a huge snooker fan since watching Dennis Taylor and Steve Davis' legendary final as a kid, and Luca's game was breathtaking to watch at times over the past two weeks, absolutely phenomenal talent. And Selby put him under extrene pressure, but he held his nerve and came through. Wonderful final, and Luca's win is great for snooker.

@@lhu8891 nope, i disagree. For those countries that already get used of paying premium for live already having mindset that everyone should pay. I am talking about wider reachout to others countries which have limited or yet exposure to snooker.

Apart from coming back from 9 in the semi, Brecel had to best Williams, O'Sullivan, & Selby -- that's a heavyweight wall of world champions to break through, and in long format matches no less. Astonishing storybook event, including a maximum in Mr Moore's last final. Brilliant tournament this year.

When someone shouted "SEND IT" on that black on 1:48 - I laughed so much. At that stage I was so happy and thrilled for Luca. I've been going on and on and on and on about him for years and it's finally happened - he has finally achieved true snooker glory. And he deserved it more than anyone else in this year's Championship. Absolutely tremendous!

i'm not a selby fan, i never was, i never will be and ronnie is my hero (yet he's giving me heart attacks EVERYTIME he misses a pot - and of course even the "easy" pots)
it's just the fact, that actual blind fanboys would talk nonsense like "only ronnie can beat selby in a final" - and my heart was broken, i was literally dead inside my after ronnie lost in 2014 ... but in the end, ronnie's only loss at a WSC final was - sadly - against selby ...

I'm a year younger than Luca, and when I was first getting into snooker I would watch his youtube videos of him making a 147 at 14/15 years old. It's crazy that just over a decade later he would be world champion. Congratulations Luca!

I fancied Selby to win this year WSC after his QF victory over Higgins, but to be fair, I have to say Luca played incredibly well in the final. Just simply sublime and many congrats to him. Well deserved victory! The first player from Europe continent to become World Champion!
To beat Mark Williams, Ronnie O'Sullivan, bounce back against a huge difference and overcome Selby. Well deserved.
So glad that Brecel won. I was off my seat in that last frame, willing every ball in. Ultimately, snooker is a spectator sport. It needs to be entertaining. Luca Brecel simply entertains. I've been critical of Selby - but let me be clear: I have nothing against him personally, just his style of play. But again, he pepped up his game and played some brilliant snooker too, including a magnificent 147. So why can't he just do that all the time, rather than suck the life out of the game? Anyway, it's all over - bravo Luca Brecel. Let's hope we get a whole new breed of winners: Brecel, Si Jaihui, Trump (we need him back to his best), Lisowski, etc. The Future of snooker is, hopefully, in good hands.
