    Tracy McGrady apologists always point to him having weak supporting casts, yet the 2009 Rockets completely debunked that as they took the Champions to 7 games without TMac AND with Yao missing more than half the series as well.
    If you replace TMac on the 2005-2008 Rockets with Wade or Kobe they easily compete for a title and definitely make it past the 1st Round without question
    TMac’s Magic were actually a poor supporting cast, but so was the East as a whole. Jason Kidd had a lesser supporting cast on the Nets yet took them to consecutive Finals while TMac as a starter never even lost to an eventual NBA Finalist while always being knocked out in the 1st Round.

    Kobe during these years never got the respect from the officials he deserved. He'd legit get knocked on his ass 4, 5 times a game and would get hit on his arm as he shot jumpers another 4 times a game and he'd have like 6 free throws. The fuck. I remember him doing an interview where he talked about in practice he'd literally have a coach hit him on his arm as he shot and practice making them like that because he seldom got the calls.

      @Beans didn't you remember he got hurt in q4 in game one which they won? He came back playing with injury and was not 100% the next 2 games. He just wanted to give everything he had but eventually had to quit. Had he been healthy, it would have been different.

    • @brandon_e24

      J K I hear u but the Lakers had to adjust to a more small ball approach by HOU. It was a much different look than expected when Yao unexpectedly announced he was out for the season. Despite not 100%, he was still a factor & fairly effective, just less so. Lakers played & shot poorly in game 1. I don’t believe a healthy Yao would have made a difference in the outcome of games 2 & 3. The Lakers & Kobe simply played too well in those games. After all, they were the better team. The Lakers visibly relaxed in game 4 w/ the knowledge that Yao was done, I mean I would too. I watched that game 4 closely. To prove it, in their must win games (games 5 & 7) the Lakers absolutely dominated when they had to. Knowing this, it is likely the Lakers still win in 7 vs a healthy Yao. Now with a healthy tmac, then the Rockets might win in 6 or 7

    • @JK-oc9qc
      @JK-oc9qc 3 роки тому +1

      @@brandon_e24 no one would really know things that never happened. It is all our preferences. NBA playoff games also have many ref./league factors in. I agree that without T mac, Laker had a bit edge over Rockets but you never know. Houston defense was suffocating and Artest did a good job on Kobe. Ref was not on his side though. A healthy Yao had more wins on Lakers than losses over all these years. With T mac, Yao, Artest and supporting cast, they were unstoppable that year. Anyway, those days NBA was much more fun than today's.
