I read that John was a favorite of Steve Irwin and that he might play at Steve's memorial service so I did a search to hear John's music. I'm very moved by this song and will certainly purchase any of his music I can find. Beautiful.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful song and video. I had never heard of John Williamson until the Steve Irwin Memorial. We seem to be a bit culturally deprived here in the States. Are there any dvds of his music that you could recomend? The little I've heard proves to me that John is a tremendous talent. I'm glad he was friends with Steve. It makes a lot of sense. Thanks again.
Just a quick note to let people know. John will be playing his 40th anniversary concerts at the Sydney Opera House with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra THIS Friday night and Saturday afternoon, October 29 and 30!
all great songs that I also like. my favourites are wildlife warriors, river cryin' out, camel boy, hawksbury river lovin', diamontina drover, joy of the journey and hillbilly road. did you come down here to australia to see him or was he in the UK?
I want to know if anyone has Keeper of the stones with JW and Warren Williams. I listen to them all mate I am in Austria now a Howard refugee and longing to come home to a labor laugh.
I can recommend a dvd, but I'm biased! "Chandelier of stars" is John's latest album and we produced the DVD for it here at Alice Springs Film & TV. John's site has it. If you would like an intro to JW's music I suggest you go to iTunes store Australia. I think everyone needs to start their journey with John at "Cootamundra wattle", it translates anywhere! You should also try "A bushman can't survive", "Wrinkles", "Only 19", "Rip Rip woodchip" & the lighthearted, "old Man Emu"&"The Budgie song".
are you able to put up.... Diggers of the Anzacs I come from australia but somehow can't find the flipping song anywhere and would love it if someone was able to put it up on youtube or give me a place where the song is sung. Thanx Agent Ruby Gamer 4 life
John has been called Australia's Willie Nelson, and in some ways the comparison is fair. He is passionate about his country and has led many fights, including environmental ones. Through song he has saved koala habitats and taken on huge forestry companies to save old growth forests from the appalling practice of "woodchipping"-in other words obliteration. I'm honored to have directed many of his videos. I could easily see Steve wanting him to sing at his memorial.
he is a wonderful man,an Australian legend, my daughter cry when listen to him cause she loved him!

Sorry, didn't direct that clip and don't even know if there was one, it's pretty early JW.
