    At 17 I couldn't see past the next weekend and what I was going to do to make enough money for beer that weekend, I ended up making some bad choices and spent some time in jail with 7 dollars to my name. while there I knew that's not where I was headed. I was forced to drop out of school so I took night classes at a trade school to learn how to weld. I saved up enough to be able to buy the equipment I own today. At 20 years old with a family I am bringing home somewhere in the neighborhood of 180k a year. Confidence, Dedication, Passion, optimism, and drive.

    I am 17 and just started last fall. I've steadily purchased more equipment (backpack blowers hedge trimmers lawn mowers exc), I'm in the process of buying a dump truck with a plow. I made all the money myself and bought everything myself, only guidance from my dad who is a contractor. I'm working on a pond, waterfall, and a few other good size projects this year. My customer base grows weekly through friends in the business and word of mouth. These videos are awesome and so helpful to me trying to expand.

I started with a small push mower and fit everything in my 92 ford explorer. 4 months later after going full time, I had about 32 clients. I bought my truck and the next day my 32 inch walk behind. • @MatManification
    @MatManification 8 років тому +3

    Inspirational stuff. These youngsters have done very well for themselves however I would usually prefer to employ someone experienced depending on the job. If it's just mowing lawns or washing cars then it's not a massive issue but with a lot of landscaping there's things professionals take into account and young green beginners might not. The second guy you interviewed when you showed some pictures, the trees were over mulched and would encourage the bases to rot because they can't breathe through that thick mulch at the base. Thanks for the upload.

    • @wtfftw3000
      @wtfftw3000 8 років тому +1

      This is true. It is rare for you to find someone who knows how to take care of the lawn, trees, and etc. The problem comes when the clients finally noticed you did something wrong, and start to wonder whether you know what you are doing. This is a plus however because the problem is most likely not to happen again. And yes, those that depend on the job and have good experience are most likely to do a better job(I've seen it happen).

    • @mattgoodmangoodmanlawnmowi2454
      @mattgoodmangoodmanlawnmowi2454 8 років тому

      If you know that is a possibility, all you have to do is tell your client you will research their question, or if it is a job you aren't sure about how to do, do some googling to learn.
      That, plus your local ag extension service can be your friend. And you can always partner with a larger service for fertilizing and pesticide/herbicide treatments if you haven't got the skill or the license.
      We started last year, and have addressed every situation by researching it online before we told our client what we would do and why. And it has never backfired.
      Doesn't take long to learn about mulch volcanoes, what are all possible causes of lawn browning off, how to power edge, proper bush trimming techniques, or any of that stuff. We aren't living in the 1800's...it's all there if you just look for it, and don't act like all you know is all there is to know.
      And many of our customers have been burned by careless or indifferent larger services, and appreciate our willingness to be attentive to their concerns. So it can be a good thing to go with someone who is new but smart enough to be careful about both the customer and the techniques.

    I am 15 years old and have been in business for 1 year. Beginning of the year all I had was my john deere lawn tractor and a trailer for that and a couple other tools. I drove around my neighborhood with that for the first month or two. Then mid season I brought my dad into the business with his truck and my grandpas little old trailer. We ran with that for a month or two again. At the end of the season I had 14 accounts and a 16' trailer I had paid cash for brand new. Having ambition when your first start out is one of the most important things. Every other kid when school started was bragging about there summer job at the local restaurant of working for a family member making 10$ an hour. I didn't (but should've) mentioned that i was making around 40$ and hour on the days that we mowed, even more on other jobs. By the end of this crazy summer I had made around 2800$ total and almost all of it was reinvested into the business. Neither me or my father made a dime all summer. I would rather have a fleet of brand new equipment than that much money in my pocket any day for sure. Go check out my instagram @nathanmyerslandscaping

    I grew up in the ghetto with no money and nobody cuts their own lawn let alone pay me to cut it, then at 18 i was paying rent and working two part time jobs to try and save cash, at 15 i was giving my job money to my parents who were struggling to make ends meet just to keep a roof over our head. By twenty I had bought a car and saved enough to move out on my own, by 25 recession was full swing and the jobs I had were making less then I went to school to realize I should just be watching UA-cam all day so that's how I wasted my cash, now I just sit around and wait for apocalypse because my prepping skills are top notch, plus I watch dentist videos so when the zombies come I can fix their teeth with my skill set. By 55 the dollar will collapse and you can't drink oil

    Good video.
    The thumbnail and name of the video made me expect some businesses where the teenagers were just fronts for their parents businesses or where the parents knew of a market opening up and loaned their kids the funds and gave them the whole business model. I've seen too many of those. This one was a pleasant surprise.
    Cheers to them and I wish them all the best and I also feel a healthy dose of jealousy.

It doesn't matter if you do not have the startup money the only thing that will do is delay your process. Even with this you should not just think you can not be successful because you don't have the starting funds. The glass is half full and start thinking that way.

      I have started a lawn care business. I just started with a lawn mower and some hand tools. I borrowed a few things from people I knew, and eventually my business grew. I now have extended my range of what I do to felling trees and redoing driveways, leveling ground, and more. So yeah, I started with a few things that went mine but I eventually paid back (with interest) the use of those tools and now I am able to afford my own things. I did this on what I would say my own without much help. You don't need rich parents if you have drive.

    Try 3D modeling. Just start of from some tutorials and you'll get better and better. You won't make hardly any money at first, and it's a super slow start, but by the time you finish a few jobs, and have lots of good reviews, you can actually get some really good clients. You might even get hired by an Indie start up business.

      so you are a freelancer? i though that the best way to work online was via web design, because you can work at home or get hired by a local agency +work at home, because it's a long term work as a freelancer, and you can have more free time than others and work almost whenever you want, the thing is that i still don't understand where to start, and must of all, where to learn what you need to be a good web designer

    • @adrianenciso9277
      @adrianenciso9277 8 років тому

      ***** I was talking about 3d modeling. But doing web design is difficult, especially since there are so many free sites and stuff. Finding work is the hard part. Basically just look at some freelancing websites and they'll have jobs posted. Without much a of a base, either a degree or a portfolio, you'll be stuck doing some pretty cheap sites at times. If you have any local businesses where you live, tell them you can make them a website for $100. As to where to start to get good, UA-cam tutorials and such is a good place to look. Look at popular sites and try to mimic something like their design. But if someone asks for previous material, and you have none, they'll only pay you about $25, even if it's a pretty good website. Nonetheless, don't skimp out, otherwise they won't ask for your help again when they need a new page or an update to the site. Make sure they pay you ahead of time though, and maybe even make your own site where they can request a job. Also be aware that a lot of people will ask you for a website, but may not like the end result and try to ask you to refine it. Tell them that you'll send a sketched draft, and do that, that way you don't have to go back and destroy all the hard work you've done. Hope it helps.

      Believe it or not, you can pretty easily get a full time job in web design using free programs. A friend of mine just started making $15 an hour doing it and he's just 19.
      The temp agency got them hookupz lol.
      Thought about doing freelance programming, but it's a god damn battlefield amongst professors and top-ranking competitive programmers

    • @A.l.e.x.20

      thank you guys for the answers, it really helped me, my idea was to learn everything related to web design at first,(now i live in italy and is a shitty place) then when i will move (alone) somewhere like canada or maybe russia
      (i have a friend there) i'll search for local agencies and if i find one hopefully i will work both there and at home.
      but it's really hard because i will have to pay rent, and to find a job that maybe won't be enough, i hope just that in some years (when i will already live somewhere else) I will establish economically, and i will never worry again over how to pay rent ahahahah.
      anyway ty guys hope it works!

      Find mentors (entrepreneur business owners) whether they're a restaurant entrepreneur or car salesman company entrepreneur. They have different fields they work in but they're all " entrepreneurs". And the thing they all share in common other than that is that they had to build by investing time, money and setting up in similar ways. Befriend your teachers and find entrepreneurs and tell them your goal, they love to inspire.

    Great video! I love hard working young people! I'm 18 and own my own landscaping business! I am currently running 2 trucks, one skid steer, and one mini excavator! I hope to put a 3rd truck on the road by next month! Anyone can make their dreams come true as long as they believe in themselves! -Clean Cut Lawns and Landscaping

      They're (They are)
      Their (explains ownership/possession)
      There (explains a distance, or location)
      This concludes YOUR lesson in grammar.

      Anthony Felix You buy 2 kgs for like 8 dollars a gram, then you sell 1 and 1 gram for 13 dollars a gram, and you earn big money.

    I mean it's motivational to see people so young become so successful but this video offers no real advice that isn't completely obvious lol. Everything said here is a given with no real valuable details.

    Stanley, i havent put as much time in as everyone else, but i have made enough money from very part time snow removal to buy myself a decent snowblower... There just isnt a lot of snow in Denver. I am 18, and have in the last month shifted my focus to my UA-cam channel, and working lots of hours on the farm in the summers.
