Because of the specs request that you put in beforehand, the car will be more resistant to stopping if it were coming too close to said object/ obstacles.
I'll agree with both on this. I find these types of "tech" to be silly and kind of stupid. What true purpose dose this have other than to make us more lazy?
Having a brand new model y sport, mine works perfectly well…and can see cones. Worse case in your circumstances is that it was a rental and may have compromised a lot of its components being someone that occasionally rented vehicles 😂
It seems logical that setting it up, and stipulating 48inch clearance, is too much. No parking lot ever, allowed for 48inch clearance. 20 to 30inches is more normal. Just a thought.
Don’t you need to tap the head icon for it to come to you with one touch? Vs go to target? Regardless Ive givin up trying with this gimmick. And forget using it in a parking garage with multiple floors. And 40ft away is like 40second walk. I need the steps..
On the touchscreen, the setting for "Require continuous press" is the setting for summon, not smart summon. You still need to press "Go to target". But for the car to either backup, or go forward, you don't need to press and hold. Since those cones are very tiny for the car to see, it was very easy to knock over them. Next time, try testing with a real car.😀 But I would still agree that it needs serious training for it to be flawless.
Summon would be a cool feature. Would be fun to be able to drive up to the front of a destination, get out, tell the car to park and have it go do that automatically. Then have the summon to be able to get it to come back to you. Sadly your test shows this isn't ready for prime time yet. I think they are really still refining Tesla vision and parking stuff as it doesn't see everything with the cameras as equipped. I see it is getting better in the tests I have seen posted online, but still has a ways to go. I would take the 360 degree wonky cameras on the Bolt over what Tesla is offering at this point from a drivers perspective let alone turning the car loose to park and come get you. It will be fun and convenient once they get this sort of thing figured out.
Great video guys. I’m not impressed with summon or full self driving. I’ve used fsd numerous times and get concerned with an incident each time I’ve used it. I will try it for my free 30 days after delivery day but would never purchase it. Stay safe my friends.
@@j.phoenix Tesla has been saying that for how long? I agree it’s coming “soon” but until they had the software working, they shouldn’t have removed the hardware.
Another bit of range problem for a Tesla. Fun video, thanks.
Love your guys videos

in a real world, it wouldve been faster to just walk to the car vs messing with the app haha. good test video
I agree 100%. I would rather walk for the exercise and knowing I will get the car backed out without hitting anything.

The FSD version in this test is also 12.3.6; you very likely have a newer version
It’s an automatic software update. Does the one you bought still update to the newer software?
@NevadaFederalBites it would if I subscribed to FSD

I would totally do smart summon in an empty parking lot.
In a full parking lot? No.
I think you need to watch where the target is. If the target is off of the road, it has an issue finding a safe path.

Sorry to hear it doesn’t measure up. I recently rode in a Waymo taxi in Phoenix. For 21.6 miles and 51 minutes.
its a cool feature but I don't think I would trust it with how people cross the street near the mall
Any issues with the car yet? I’m seriously considering purchasing one from hertz
Nope. Bought new tires this week, but that wasn’t the car’s fault. I’m very happy with it

I’m loving summon on my brand new Model 3… Wait no I’m not because Tesla decided to save a few dollars and remove the sensors that make it possible 😂
Smart Summon via Vision only coming soon
