In today's tutorial, I demonstrate a little-known feature of Lightroom that some photographers might find useful. Along the way, I offer up another tip as well.

My comment is delayed, but I just now needed your tip about assigning favorite folders. What I noticed as I clicked on the favorite folders pulldown (after assigning a favorite folder), just below favorite folders is "recent sources" which list the folders I was recently opening. That seems better than assigning a favorite folder because the recent folders are a fluid list. I may assign a favorite folder and then later have no need for that favorite folder. Whereas, if I am going to a folder with clouds, it will be listed under recent folders. Just saying. I am just glad I remembered your video from a month ago.

I have utilized the sky replacement in Photoshop, but this video implies you can replace the sky inside of Lightroom Classic. You set your working photo and a sky photo as favorites. What is the procedure to replace the sky inside of Lightroom Classic?

He’s referring to using a plugin. Something like luminar AI. It’s a separate program, but it works as a plugin for Lightroom, meaning you can be editing in Lightroom and then use the “plugin” to replace the sky. But the plugin is actually just a separate program that opens inside LR.

I might be wrong but why not use "set as reference " your 1st photo and then go thru your skies on the second panel ??

Thanks Tony! You can also select both folders/collections and use the compare move to leave the original photo at the right and navigate through the sky images. That way you can see both at the same time and you can rate them to refine the search. But your proposal is ok too. Happy new year!

May I ask where you get all those sky's from Anthony?

That bonus tip was one of the best I've seen for a long time, I frequently need to compare two images and the side by side comparison view I find to be VERY frustrating. But this new tip is great !! Looking forward to watching more of your videos next year !!

Interesting tip, but your scenario brings up another completely different question. Assume you made the sky swap with the partly cloudy blue sky. In your original photo you have the reflection of the overcast sky. What is the best way to correct the reflection in the new, sky swapped, photo?

Great tip. It would be really cool if you could create a virtual copy of the sky and drag and drop it into the film street so you can see it together. Or add the sky to the collection that you want to compare it yo so both are in the film strip together.

Do you have room for stupid questions? I am intrigued by your Lightroom CC library as you are demonstrating favorites in this video. Have you loaded all of your assets -- like skies -- to your computer with Lightroom? If you have, what is the benefit? You cannot do compositing in Lightroom, correct? If I am using a file as a texture, for example, I am in Photoshop and I drag it in. I'll scroll through your videos (nicely done) and see if you have anything about using Lightroom CC to stay organized. I have only a couple years experience under my belt and I am sure I miss a lot of the features available...and I know I barely touch the library features in Photoshop. Thanks!

Anthony, another great video. I am also interested in your thoughts on managing digital assets likes skies and overlays that might be used in Photoshop or Luminar. I've purchased countless assets, but I have not really come up with a great way to see all the files and variations so I can pick the best for my projects. Should it be done in Lightroom, or is it better to use another program like Photolab or Bridge that I could open side by side with Lightroom? Thanks for all the videos. I have learned a ton.

This is helpful as usual. Thanks. However, it is only helpful when u don't have water, because for your photo not to scream "fake," you need to reflect your sky in the water. I heard that Luminar Neo will have that option. Is that true?
