anyone had any luck finding a realistic school building, one that actually looks like prison and designed to crush your spirit? i've been looking since the pack came out and i still couldn't find any
the walking through security in american schools is a thing. i never had to at my high school but i had friends and cousins at other schools who did have do that, so it really just depends, unfortunately. some schools even make it a rule you have to have a clear see through backpack so everyone can see what you're carrying as well
We always had security in the high school in the 90s but they were plain clothes and roamed the halls. They were also by the cront gates but no detectors . Parents and visitors always had to be buzzed in as well.
I remember having to walk through security and being wanded in both middle and high school. Also had to have school ID that had a bar code on it that got scanned every morning to sign you into school. Plus we had to wear school uniforms with the school’s name and mascot on it.
we didn't have to walk through security but we had police officers assigned to our campus that just hung around and were there every day during the school hours. We had them As well as the regular campus security. We had plenty of threats and stuff at my school too which I'm sure was why.
This pack is perfect for creating the high school that every Disney/Nick teen went to in the early 2000s. The original school is pretty realistic but I love your version of the school!
It's so fun seeing everyone's take on school! My school was the queen's old summer house, it was originally a private school turnt public school on the seafront in the UK! It had the huge stairways going up to the principles office, a big bell tower with spiral stairs abd the original ballroom that had the huge bay windows facing the grounds was even there! So a very different type of school setting than most, especially being right on the seafront 😊
@@mslineeee it's called Bay House :) the historical photos are defo the most beautiful - the woods behind the school were also part of the original grounds, now its a park, and you can find the tombstones of the royals pets, including their monkey with personal messages on from the queen and they are still in the park :)
@@laurasenz its beeb a scary amount of years for me now too haha, it really does feel very romanticised movie to me too, our school experience seems way more boring 😅🤣
I live in England and my high school is quite big but we have different buildings for different subjects. Most of it is quite traditional but it’s been added to throughout the years so a few bits are quite modern. Love this❤❤
The idea of building a high school seems so daunting. I’ll definitely draw ideas from other builds At all of my schools growing up the cafeterias were near the front but in their own enclosed space. Also what on earth goes on in schools in Australia? Jumping off stairs, destroying plants, mooning people out windows?? 😂
When she was contemplating about the plants i was wondering what is wrong with it 🤣 my primary school and highschool have potted plants everywhere and i never see them get destroyed but idk how it is in australia hahaha
people tend to use plants as an "organics" bin, at least at my school. so there are plenty of mandarin peels and apple cores rotting in the plants. also most of the potted plants are ridden with weeds or dead....but i suppose that's more of an upkeep issue (or kids sabotaging it with their left over coke or something)
i reckon it is, australian teens/students are very "i dont give a sh*t" which sorta manifests into being carefree as an adult (which apparently australians are known for)
Amazing school, but it definitely needed a workout room for the cheerleaders and the football team, and showers for when they are finished with their workout. A room for the chess club would have been appropriate as well. But yeah... LOVED the idea of making the school smaller as the default school is DEFINITELY too big 😂🤣😂
I love how your school feels more like a school for everyone, whereas the ones we're getting with the pack looks more elite. Gives it more variety... The fact we can actually build our own.
One thing about the school I went to, it was built in the 90s after the original one burned down, and so everything there has been that 90s style since. theyve only upgraded the doors to be glass, the floors to be tile, and painted the walls every few years
Where I live it’s usually cold and raining so our schools are mostly one building so you don’t have to go outside much (although my elementary/primary school had so many kids that they put in a bunch of portable classrooms and you had to walk outside anyway lol)
That was at my old high school too (here in the US), but I hated it because you get locked out without a teach/administrator card to open the doors ☠️. Is that something common there too?
@@oceansolstice608 its rains frequently in melbourne to, there was alot of undercover walkways between buildings and over hanging roofs at my school and we had waterproof jackets with our uniform we could wear too
I knew it would be good because you're a great building designer, but I was so impressed by how the school turned out! I'm from a small town so we had small schools and this is perfect! I def will be using this build in my game play!
There is a soap dispenser and paper towel wall box that came with Get to Work. It also has EXIT signs for above your doors and a boxed fire extinguisher. They are located in WALL HANGINGS (the little SUN icon). I built a base HS building that I'll finish when the pack drops. You can see the exterior on Twitter. Thanks, nice build.
Seeing that you are able to customize your own high school, I think Get to Work is going to be the next pack they update!! They can fix world and add the hospital etc. to actually lots!!!!!
Whether they do or not, I just hope they carry through the ability to follow multiple Sims so I can have scientists get married without one of them being fired.
I can’t wait to see the future hogwarts builds that the community will make! Also, I really wish there wasn’t so much Art Deco. I want to see more basic traditional choices.
@@lixyororke We as a society need to stop being so hypercritical of peoples interests. So its not your cup of tea, that's fine, but maybe let others enjoy things, yeah?
@@lazycat8057 I don’t really care about other peoples interests except where they come from hyper vocal and influential TERFs who literally would rather people like me be dead than allow us to live our lives, yeah? :)
@@lixyororke Personally, I don't know anyone in the HP community that supports or respects J.K. in her decision to be transphobic. However, if your experience has been different then I'm truly sorry for that. Please know that we don't claim her.
@@lazycat8057 sorry but by keeping her culturally relevant you are intentionally or not, giving her the ability to maintain her influence. i'm still baffled people think their wizard school kids books are worth tacitly supporting bigots. enjoy it in your own time, cherish your previous memories, but stop keeping HP relevant in the pop culture zeitgeist. we don't have the luxury of just "letting people enjoy it" or taking your personal anecdotes at their word, considering TERFs and transphobes are loudly and vocally claiming HP, using its iconography and imagery as dogwhistles, and lauding JKR's influence all over the internet. it's really not that hard to just find another book to read for the sake of marginalised people's health and wellbeing
We didn't have any walk through security at our school, that's more in the bigger city schools. The cafeteria in elementary school doubled as the gym. The tables would be put away after lunch. In High school, the cafeteria was right as you entered the building. It was like a large lobby with tables set up in it. Funny, I can't imagine a school without a cafeteria...lol
We do have plants and a security thingy at the entrance of some high schools here in norway. Its more so that you enter with a card you get from the school, and go trough a little door thingy. This is made because some schools have had different kinds of unwelcome people enter the school. Like drug dealers, other adults entering to get free breakfast in the morning, and others just hanging around. (its not that often this happends). :)
My high school (In the US, Ohio to be specific) was designed and built in the 1980’s, and was very modern for the time. A lot of glass and open air (and it’s an eighth of a mile - or 660 feet/201 meters long) - which would be great if it wasn’t in an area where tornadoes are common. In order to get to the tornado shelters we had to walk through a hallway that was nicknamed “The Fishbowl” because it was entirely glass on both sides with one side on the exterior of the building. During a tornado if the glass broke it would have turned into “The Blender”.
Ooft! I got a very vivid image when I read the blender 😅 I’m glad you said “if” the glass broke cause I would hate if that actually happened to you guys!
In Sweden, we get lunch for free. It's a proper meal every day. We never have to bring food to school except for when we are small, then we sometimes bring a snack (like fruit) or when we go on a field trip. It's the law to serve food in school every day.
Australian schools are great 😂 97% of my school was original building built back in 1703 and the other 3% was new and was so oddly over technical. It didn't match at all 😂 I wish we had cafeterias, we just had a tuck shop with chocolate ice mony's and pizza pockets. They were fire though 🤤
Plants were very common decoration in my school, they would put plants everywhere especially on a way to principal office and every class room had a world map. Basically only decoration school could think of was either plants or world map 😂
So glad the computers and laptops ended up going into the build, as the video was going on I was like the chess club and computer club have no where or no items for use for their club (the sports I imagine would be outside on the field area) I can imagine the chess club and computer club use the little library as their club gathering space which is cute ❤ x
My school (I'm from Australia) is made of four 2 story blocks that are connected by paths and in 2 of them a bridge on the second story, we have technically 3 ovals (1 of them was a "football" feild, a cricket pitch, an art cottage, 4 basketball courts, 2 outside, 1 in the hall and 1 in the old hall, 2 hockey fields, 4 soccer goals, the dance studios, a COLA, and an undercover area where the food stall is. We also had 2 elevators installed and ramps put in everywhere when I started year 7 because a disabled person started going to my school that year.
She literally saved me today because it’s 4 am in Australia for me right now and I’ve been awake since 12 o’clock being very sick and I can’t sleep so I’m thankful I can watch a video from her.
hi i live in america and wanted to give u insight on high schools lol if you ever read this comment. security at schools is definitely becoming a more popular thing, i didn’t ever in elementary school but they started doing it for me in middle school and become strict to them randomly searching a different third of kids every morning based on how we get to school. every school in my county has morning searches that delays your arrival to class and sometimes makes us tardy for teachers from standing in line. anyways, cafeteria lunches are a thing you normally just have a student number that you type in and it’s like a dollar or two for your meal that day. two story schools are also becoming more popular my middle school was a brand new built school that had two stories and was huge. now i go to high school and right now there is currently a population of 3,000 kids. love you deli hope this helped clear up some of the questions and wonders you had
I didn’t see your school up on the gallery… I think it would be great to use the smaller high school as they seem to say copperdale is a small family town. It fits the theme perfectly love how you made this high school.
I'm just outside Chicago, my son graduated high school in 2017 and his school DID have security things to go through when they first walked in. It's disgusting that life is second to guns in this country.
20:19 My school had a commons/cafeteria in the central area. So you would have the main office, then the commons area/cafeteria would be back to it. I love this build, I have always been fascinated with school, and seeing a game pack/build like this really makes me happy.
The school I work at is brand new. The old school was falling apart and had mold so they built a new one. Actually not very symmetrical and it’s super modern with the second story turned with an overhang. Also has these skinny timber boards as feature walls throughout. It’s an elementary school but such a cool design I might incorporate it into a high school design in sims.
As much as I love this high school and it will 100% be the first thing I download when I get the pack (to replace the current school), I would LOVE to see an Art Deco school build from you Deli, we all know you would absolutely nail that style of build!! 😍😍🥰❤️
I'm from the US and my public high school (Northern California) was built in the late 60s. It was pretty "institutional" looking. The classrooms had no heat or A/C. We had some trailers in the back of the school for additional classrooms because the area had grown a lot. They were like the trailers you see at commercial construction sites. We had a multi-purpose room that acted as the cafeteria and theater (for plays). Most people hung out in the quad, which was just a large concrete square in the middle of the school with steps to sit on around the edges.
My high school was 150 years old! It had modern areas added on over time - so the main building was 4 stories, and then a huge sprawling add on was 2 stories. I’m from US and we absolutely had security, both a metal detector and a front door person checking each person coming in the doors as well as an ID lanyard that you use to scan into doorways. I graduated in 2009 so idk what it’s like now. I don’t remember any plants in the general areas of the building but in teachers classrooms they can decorate (within reason) however they liked!
Security before walking into schools is definitely a thing in the states. Of course, it's more or less prevalent, depending on how the surrounding neighborhood and district is. As for cafeterias, they tend to have their own buildings or are built closer to the exterior of the building, because it makes transporting foods and disposing of food waster easier. This is like how gyms tend to be near the exterior or have their own buildings. :)
So interesting to hear about your schools. I’m from America and my highschool was huge, it was two connected buildings, the old building and the new building called the freshman building. They were connected by a large curved hallway. Both buildings were three stories (not including the basement that was just storage and maintenance). Our cafeteria was huge and we had a school store that sold snacks during non lunch periods for students in study halls. We had two auditoriums, a soccer feild, tennis courts, baseball stadium, and football stadium. And we had three gyms, one small one, one large one, and one only for wrestling.
The shadows/lighting in this world are something else! When I was in high school (early 2000s in the US), we didn’t have security. I taught high school English for 2 years (2017-2018), and there were security guards, but no, like, metal detectors or anything. These days…schools over here are, sadly, a bit unpredictable. I can imagine in some places, going to school is like going to the airport.
I went to a private school in Ireland, which the original building was built in 1886. We had a new build extension with extra classrooms, science labs, music room, library and art studio. It was nice having a mix of modern and the original one ❤️ we also had a 'dining hall ' which is like a cafeteria, but half of us brought out own lunch.
It's so cool to see what schools are like elsewhere! I live in the states, and to me its weird that the thought of being able to get lunch at school would be luxurious. I feel like when I was in school everyone who had money was able to bring their own food. They had assisted lunch programs for lower income families to be able to get lunch at school. Basically you'd go through the line and get given a very basic and bland lunch, and there would be extras you could pick up that cost more. And you didn't pay right there, it basically goes on your "account" and your parents paid the difference at the end of the year. I remember not eating at all and just skipping to go to the library because I didn't have a lunch account and definitely didn't have packable lunches to bring. But it's been awhile since I've been in high-school so it might be different now
In the UK state run schools, often called Comprehensives, would have one large hall near the center of the school where morning Assembly was held, it would then convert into a dining hall/cafeteria for lunch and in many schools also doubled as the main sportshall/indoor PE area. School lunch used to be provided 'free' to the children, with the parents paying a set fee for the term, but then it moved to the kids having to pay individually for each meal type/piece of food. Some schools operated a voucher sytem for low incomes on the free school meals programme, others used id/swipe card systems. One school I worked in the vouchers were common currency amongst the students, the kids that got them would sell them for cash so they could by sweets/junk food on the way home. At all times kids have been able to bring packed lunches from home, and would always have a designated area to sit and eat them. This is all from about 10 years ago, I've not worked in a school since 2009.
In Sweden the lunch was and I think but not sure still free and we had kitchens and a dedicted "cafeteria" or as in sweden its called matsal wich basicly is directly translated diningroom.
in australia we all have to bring our lunch, we usually get recess (short fifteen minute break at the start of the day) then lunch which would go for an hour ish. mine was 12.26-1.17 lol (no idea why the times were so random, our periods went for 48 mins too). we had a canteen but you had to pay for everything there and it would just be meat pies, toasted rolls, chips and potato cakes. and icey poles too i bought my whole class cheap icey poles on a 36 degree day one class lol
For me it was, elementary school you would bring a lunch (nothing fancy unless you were rich), and eat in the classroom after outside recess, and for high school, you would bring a lunch OR go buy one at a shop near the school and there was an open area in the school where they put out foldable tables and kids would eat there, outside, or somewhere in the hallway. The elementary school had some food kept in one classroom for kids who didn’t have any, but I don’t know if the high school had anything like that.
13:05 thank you for including bathrooms for extra privacy! Disabilities being thought of even in the sims feels very inclusive and I appreciate it 💜💜💜💙💙💙♿️♿️♿️
I’m 24 & from Melbourne, Australia. And we literally had to go to the little canteen stall and then eat food on tables outside. We had undercover shaded areas if it was really hot or raining but we were made to eat outside lol I found out that my bus pass slid between the door locks of some of the classrooms unlocked the class rooms though so when it was really cold my friends and I’d just pick the class room lock
@@SajR5520 In Australia we just eat lunch outside. There's tables scattered around the grounds, and undercover areas, but usually my friends and I would just sit in big circles on the grass to eat.
@@SajR5520 just outside in the walkways, on random benches, at the oval, literally just hanging around. there were normally seats outside the classrooms and stuff (at my school all the classrooms opened to the outside, the only internal corridors were teacher only) keeping in mind, it doesn't snow in WA. Normally each subject had a different building and we walked between them.
This looks so amazing and much more accessible than the huge one the pack is shipped with. Don't get me wrong I like the style of the official high school but it's just way too cavernous. This one is so cute, I can't wait to download it. The only thing it's missing is a gym for the football/cheer teams and I kinda feel like the computer and chess teams also deserve their own rooms. Maybe you could add those too before you're able to upload it to the gallery? There are four activity teams and I think all of them deserve their own spaces, like you did with the cheer space outside. Also, I'm unreasonably excited for this pack, it looks so freaking good.
@@DylanRomanov That would be cool but in reality you can only have max 16 students on the lot (most probably way less) so I think it wouldn't really work :/
I feel like this school is small enough that clubs have to meet in the normal schooltime classrooms or activity room after they've cleared out (with scheduling conflicts from time to time that has students and/or teachers fighting over a given space), and then there's a separate lot for the gymnasium/auditorium combo building. And the principal is the only on-site administrator as well as their own secretary, doing a lot of the stuff needed to keep the school running themselves and delegating some rolls the teachers or the small student counsel during club hours and in between class periods.
My Highschool had a second story corridor/hallway with windows overlooking the cafeteria on the first floor. Also yes, there was a kid who mooned the school this way. Deli is spot on.
Beautiful build. Aussie High schools have plants in staffrooms, public spaces like front office and classrooms. Not in corridors or near lockers etc as you are right, students dont really respect them. Love your Australian flavoured builds. As a fellow Aussie I find it inspires me to put Aussie things in game.that brick you chose is just such a classic school coloured brick for me.
At my school we didn't have to go through security but we had police in the school at all times. The front entrance was around our locker area and the back entrance was by the cafeteria! I loved this school! You did an amazing job Deli!
I have never seen security at a Canadian high school before. I, too, have only seen it on television and movies from the States. We do commonly have indoor plants in our schools, though. Two of the public elementary schools that I went to actually had courtyards and conservatories that were full of plants. The conservatory was quite large, actually. Regarding cafeterias, in my experience in Canada there are definitely cafeterias in high schools here, but they are different from what I have seen from Hollywood. Here, the cafeterias that I have been in have just basically been large rooms with tables and seating for students to sit and eat at. There are no food lines like there are in American film, but there are often small restaurants (or one restaurant), like a mall food court, that are contracted to offer food, but many students bring their own lunches.
Been teaching HS for a very long time. There are many potential layouts but here's the general: 1) Main offices are near the front entrance for security as they control who gets in and easy access for parents though assistant principals may be nearer to classrooms in case help is needed. 2) Cafeterias are centrally located so no one has to go far and often double as meeting areas for activities or to hang out during breaks... TVs are often on the walls there to show school news and other things. 3) Showers are near the gym for obvious reasons often with locker rooms for changing like at spas. 4) Some gyms have a stage for drama or graduation if the school doesn't have an auditorium. A few even have pools for swim teams. 5) While it's iconic... most schools have done away with lockers for security reasons. Kids often just carry a laptop so there's not as books... but lockers have a function in the game so I guess they are needed. We took lockers out of our school over 20 years ago. 6) A lot of high schools have an outdoor courtyard for kids to hang out. We even have one for seniors only as something special for them. 7) And yes by law we have special disabled bathrooms... these are also offered for those that for one reason or another aren't comfortable in the designated gendered bathrooms. Then there are staff bathrooms as you don't want adults in the kids bathrooms. 8) Glad you were thinking about colors. There's a whole study about what colors are uplifting but calming. Some students can't handle overly complicated color patterns... such as those with autism. BUT PLEASE put some aquariums, plants... even small pets in one classroom. It's really great for kids.
I'm Canadian and our high schools are similar to American ones, though I don't know anyone who has ever had to walk through security. I'm so excited to see people from other countries build schools that represent their own experiences, it's so cool seeing the differences and getting to learn about other cultures!
It would of been really cute if they also added water fountains where students bladders would go down just like when any other sims drink other beverages. And as an add on our sims can splash each other with water and get in trouble from the principle. Overall, I’m so excited to build with this pack as I can definitely relate that Australian schools don’t have those fancy cafeteria but more like canteen takeaway blocks. The other thing is the lot is big enough to have seperate buildings I think realistically (not sure if same applies to America or else where) in Australia we have different building blocks like block A or B for different class sections like science, arts or music.
I live in California and most of our schools are similar to what you explained Aussie schools are like; most of them were built a couple decades ago, and new modern buildings and renovations are added over time.
In New Zealand my high school was super spread out over the hill side in lots of smaller buildings and we had to constantly face the weather to get between classes. I do love this exploration of other high school experiences, definitely replacing the default build with yours.
My high school was built in 1959 in the Modernist style. The outside of the one you made reminds me of it, although it was a lot smaller than my school. My school was huge as it was the second largest in my state. And we also had "portables" which were extra classrooms put into the outside area after the school was finished. They were meant to be temporary but they were still there even a couple of decades after I graduated.
I am rapidly realizing how bizarre my high school experience was as an American to the rest of the world. I just went to research the building plans of the high school I went to was built in 1962. 2/3 of the building is built underground and doubles as the city's fallout shelter. It is a bizarre v shape above ground & a y shape below ground. In researching my school I found out that apparently they tore it down in 2019 because it was just loaded with asbestos.
This reminds me so much of my high school. It was an art deco mansion built in the 30s and then it got renovated in like the 70s and it has all of those bright colors and fun shapes and it’s wonderful.
My friend’s husband is an architect who has worked on schools and he was telling some of the unique challenges, such as making sure the bathroom sinks are designed specifically in ways that prevent students from deliberately flooding the rooms 🤣
We didn't have security per say at my school, but we had lots of locks. The front door was unlocked at the start and end of the day, but otherwise you had to be buzzed in by the office through a security camera outside. After being buzzed in you enter an entry way that had two lowered metal bar gates (literally a jail lmao) that stopped people from entering the halls. You would have to go through the main office. The office door inside had a magnetic lock that the front desk would release to let you into the office, then they would have to do that again at a second door to let you into the hallways. There is also a cop that patrols the hallways and is based in the school.
Schools can vary wildly in style in the US, even between neighboring towns. The shape of this school actually looks like some of the schools I’ve worked in, though the furniture and design is much nicer! Generally, the schools I’ve seen in the US have tile floor and painted brick walls (big cement block painted with a gross glossy paint, easy to clean I think). If you’re looking for more to add to a school, most schools have a library and some have a pool, gym, and locker rooms.
I have never been so excited for a sims pack in my life i am literally sooooo excited watching this is triggering me to build my own even without the stuff i need
Something my school had that I never saw on movie schools were mud/cloak rooms. Between two classrooms would be a small room with a door to the outdoors. Everyone would keep their snow pants/hats/mittens/muddy boots in this room hung up on hooks during school hours. Lockers were still in the hallways in front of the classes. But on snowy/rainy/muddy days students usually wouldn't go in through the main front doors and track mud into the school, we'd all go in the back doors to our classrooms.
Deligracy I think you got it right adding showers 🚿 especially after cheerleading, playing basketball 🏀/⚽️ or just running late in the A M. Classrooms a bit closer IMO. Then have computer labs, art, library upstairs? A 1 story school became the norm in the 80's + here in the states and many were called the campus. Most of the newer builds are to big for many Simmers and they're opting for gyms, break rooms and places to gather to practice skills or homework. Think a greenhouse would be appropriate as farming 🚜 is a choice too. I'm not trying to tell you how to build of course, just giving ideas on schools in the US. Love ya and your builds. ❤
My high school was 3 stories with a basement. Then the skill center was in the back. That was basically its own building, only one floor. 3x a month we had random police check with metal detectors. I love your builds and your voice🥰
I thought I was the only one asked to leave class for an uncontrollable laughing fit! I was one of those kids who was never in trouble, so the teacher knew I wasn’t being difficult on purpose, so they just had me go stand in the hallway to get ahold of myself. I don’t even know what was so funny!
My high school in Pennsyvania had showers (no stalls) off the gym. You get sweaty in gym class and they require you to shower before boing back to class. There was a monitor that checked off if you showered as it was part of your gym grade. Showers were deffinity needed for the boys after they played baseball as they stank. I was lucky my gym class was usually either last class of the day or I study hall after so showers weren't as monitored.
At my high school (US) our cafeteria was it's own building with tables/eating areas and a stage for talent shows and what not, we also had metal picnic style tables outside that a weird plastic like coating over the metal so it didn't get hot and burn you lol
Yes deli it strange to walk into a school straight into a cafeteria…..usually u walk into a hall that has the front office and the principal office lol
In France we do have a cafeteria inside all schools. But we don't have vending machines, and you can't bring your lunch. You have to eat what's offered and there isnt much choice, you pay for the trimester. The only other option is to leave at lunchtime to eat at home. But most students eat at school even if you live close by because it's cheap (very cheap if you have low incomes) and more practical (parents don't have to prepare lunch every day)
I went to a public high school in Australia, the only year I had lockers outside was year 10 and it was so far away from all my classes 😩 we also had a double story building in year 11 and 12 for the seniors. Year 9 there was massive stairs up to the building and of course all the boys would be messing around on it (it gave me broke gossip girl vibes sitting on those steps) 😂
The walking through security is in american schools. I never had to do it in high school, but I remember my sisters having to because it was right after Columbine, and they became really cautious about it. They also went to a different High School than I did in a different area of the city I lived in. When I was going to school we only had one time where security checked us, and it was because there was someone actively making threats to our high school. Nothing ever happened thankfully, but yeah. Also the cafitera in my school was pretty much as you walked in, I would walk past one of the many staircases we had, and it was through the doors to the left, and near the school library. I've seen newer schools though that has the cafeteria area in a more open space.
It's so interesting to see how different schools are everywhere! The school I went to was build in 1880 so.. it's very different from every other school in my country lol! It's a huge 3 story building, I could never recreate it in the sims. I really liked your build, seems like it could be a really fancy private school (at least where i live!) haha cant wait to download it!
Lovely school, My school was a bunch of separate buildings attached by an overhanging roof. Each building had different subjects. The lockers were on the outside of the building under the overhangs. Each students locker was right outside the building were their homeroom was. You had a homeroom were you started your day, and you could go after each class to get extra help.
In America sometimes the only time kids eat is at school because some public schools provide free/reduced lunches. Free/reduced lunch programs are very helpful and can also reduce the cost of some childcare programs or even college applications (there are fees associated with college apps here). But yea as someone who was on free/reduced from Elementary to about Highschool lunch wasn’t that glamorous in my public school experience but I was grateful.
We had security throughout the school. Most of them were also firefighters which was interesting. The others were basically regular people who happen to be known throughout the city. My high school is BIG and looks beautiful at night. If anyone one is wondering, I'm talking about New Rochelle High School
Idk if anyone answered yet but as far as cafeterias, every school I've attended and most of my kids schools, the cafeteria is in the gym which also happens to be the auditorium. One had those folding walls down the middle to separate the gym and cafeteria but allow for expansion. The tables were benches that folded and rolled for easy set up/takedown between class times
I live in the US in the south. Our school lunches are government funded so everyone can eat for free but it’s kind of gross food and you don’t get a choice of foods, you have to eat what is served. And as far as security, the front doors have to be buzzed in by the office so they know if someone is there and most but not all junior/high schools the kids have to walk through metal detectors but not necessarily security. This is normal lunch and security for most public school anyway. I always love learning about other countries so I though I would tell you a little about it here.
American high schools usually have multiple stories, plants are required by DCFS in some school to have some nature, most schools I've seen have mirals, security guards, cafeterias could be when you walk in or in its own separate room usually on the first floor near bathrooms or the auditoriums. we sometimes have outdoor lockers and lunch seating. some schools in the US have little food places to buy food but they will always have "free" hot and cold food for low income kids. some kids bring their own lunch or leave campus to get their food during lunch hours. American schools are all different tho, like one school in one state could be completely different from one in another state.
My high school in a pretty rural area in UK, England had so many different building that were connected but you'd always walk outside to get to them because it was quicker and some weren't connected. We don't really have one big building here. Also, soooo many stairs
Love the idea of a smaller build! Definitely better for gameplay. And this is so cute! I love that you managed to make it colorful while still being restful.
I’m excited to put a gym with a proper basketball court inside and out 😍 It’s a big enough lot lol. Use that space! Cannot wait for cross pack compatibility
My high school in New England was designed by a California architect in the 70's. There was a separate building for each subject, so we had to walk outside after each class, which was wonderful when it was freezing or raining. Also, they were all at ground level, so any time it rained the buildings would flood. They demolished it and built a new, more sensible school for that climate the year after I graduated.
Love this building! It looks so much more realistic for me as a European as well… in most schools here, there’s no cafetaria either. We bring our own food from home. Lots of schools are in old historic buildings (like the one I used to go to), but we also have a lot of modernised school buildings especially when you go outside the bigger cities.
I'm from Baltimore, Maryland. The cafeteria is called the lunch room. The lunch room is usually in the front or side of the school. The auditorium is in the school. And the gyms is inside too.
I went to school in Florida. My high school was a single story, sprawling building with no windows except on the office and 2 math rooms at the back of the school. We had a separate building for the cafeteria and a two story building that had all the history classes for some reason. We didn't have to go through security or anything back then, but it wouldn't surprise me if they had to now. It was super old and gross. I can't imagine going to a school that had funds to renovate or upkeep the campus lol. Our school spent all their money on sports.
This is more like Canadian schools... Still a bit fancy, but way more believable. Love the learning centre in the top you did. Here our cafeterias are just an eating place (you don't really get food there, just bring it). Some schools have some food to buy, but it'd just be packaged snacks. The school I teach at has one in the basement. Most others I've been in are somewhat close to the front of the school, but definitely in a new room. (the school I went to in grade 12 had a cafeteria that doubled as an "auditorium", since it had a stage in it... You just had to set up stairs and stuff for assemblies). What's interesting is that the school politics in Australia and Canada are also very similar to each other! Love the build. :)
As a fellow Australian, most of the schools in my area are multiple buildings that you walk between, instead of one building with halls. We have some indoor hallways, but that can be very rare most times.
I find it so interesting that schools in the US are in one big building. Most schools I’ve seen here in Australia are smaller buildings/blocks on the school grounds with lots of outdoor space connecting the buildings. Sooo different!
not sure how it is in other states, but all the schools I’ve personally seen and attended (in California) have been outdoors. So basically it’s all spaced out
This is such a great and realistic American high school! Obviously it is smaller than any school I've attended, it works perfectly. The only thing, and it is a nonissue, is that the first floor classroom might complain about noise coming from the main entrance/cafeteria area but this is the Sims. I agree that the principal's desk needs to be fixed too, haha.
I can't wait to make high schools with city living. You can add basketball courts, art classrooms, wood shop, all kids of stuff would be cool
oh my gosh yeah!! i didn’t even think about that! it is going to be so cool
Sooo smart!
@@catherinesmith5421 Same didn’t even cross my mind OMG OMG OMG
I mean I'm already building a high school, but I tend to pre-build anyway
Literally my first thought !!
this school looks like it cares about its students lol this school’s environment is so bright and clean
lol
anyone had any luck finding a realistic school building, one that actually looks like prison and designed to crush your spirit? i've been looking since the pack came out and i still couldn't find any
the walking through security in american schools is a thing. i never had to at my high school but i had friends and cousins at other schools who did have do that, so it really just depends, unfortunately. some schools even make it a rule you have to have a clear see through backpack so everyone can see what you're carrying as well
We always had security in the high school in the 90s but they were plain clothes and roamed the halls.
Ugh I hated the metal detector and being wand down loll had to take off our shoes and belts and ofc no phones . 😒
we had a whole metal detector and security guard in middle school
we didn't have to walk through security but we had police officers assigned to our campus that just hung around and were there every day during the school hours. We had them As well as the regular campus security. We had plenty of threats and stuff at my school too which I'm sure was why.
I really want Deli to do a drama filled LP! She’s so good at them, but she hasn’t gone in that direction in so long
Agreed! A Gossip Girl type one would be super cool with this pack!!
I know she’s had a lot of issues with demonetization with the drama filled let’s plays :( but I totally agree!
YESS!! I hope she does. I miss them.
Hampton Falls nostalgia 😔
Omg yes. I just rewatched her whole Hampton fall serie this week. This was gold. Deli you’re so good at it. Please serve us some drama.
So a very different type of school setting than most, especially being right on the seafront 😊
oooh!! that sounds so pretty :))
Ooooh! Which school is that? Would love to look up pictures
I actually like that it is smaller - it looks more playable and less empty.
I live in England and my high school is quite big but we have different buildings for different subjects. Most of it is quite traditional but it’s been added to throughout the years so a few bits are quite modern. Love this❤❤
The idea of building a high school seems so daunting. I’ll definitely draw ideas from other builds
At all of my schools growing up the cafeterias were near the front but in their own enclosed space. Also what on earth goes on in schools in Australia? Jumping off stairs, destroying plants, mooning people out windows?? 😂
I mean… check out Dr. Gluon’s. I’m sure yours would be way better. 😂
When she was contemplating about the plants i was wondering what is wrong with it 🤣 my primary school and highschool have potted plants everywhere and i never see them get destroyed but idk how it is in australia hahaha
people tend to use plants as an "organics" bin, at least at my school. so there are plenty of mandarin peels and apple cores rotting in the plants. also most of the potted plants are ridden with weeds or dead....but i suppose that's more of an upkeep issue (or kids sabotaging it with their left over coke or something)
is that not normal in other schools?
i reckon it is, australian teens/students are very "i dont give a sh*t" which sorta manifests into being carefree as an adult (which apparently australians are known for)
Amazing school, but it definitely needed a workout room for the cheerleaders and the football team, and showers for when they are finished with their workout. A room for the chess club would have been appropriate as well. But yeah... LOVED the idea of making the school smaller as the default school is DEFINITELY too big 😂🤣😂
Doesn’t it make most sense for chess club to have their activities in one of the classrooms?
And a school library 😭
@@powerpuff4ever For me it doesn't really matter where they meet up to play chess so long as the chess tables are there somewhere.
@@CaribbeanStreak obviously a library as well - agreed. Should have noticed that wasn't there... can't believe I missed it.
Well she did say she was aiming for more of a smaller school so maybe if she were to do a bigger school she would include more things and activities.
I love how your school feels more like a school for everyone, whereas the ones we're getting with the pack looks more elite. Gives it more variety... The fact we can actually build our own.
I cannot wait to see other people high schools as well! I want a cluttered type of highschool, it feels so empty right now
One thing about the school I went to, it was built in the 90s after the original one burned down, and so everything there has been that 90s style since. theyve only upgraded the doors to be glass, the floors to be tile, and painted the walls every few years
That must’ve of looked nice! My high school was built in the early 1900’s so you can tell it looked old 😂 they only updated plumbing/maintenance.
Also in Australia schools are usually lots of buildings instead of one big building so you have to go outside and walk between the classrooms.
That’s very true! It annoys me seeing these high school builds as just one building.
Where I live it’s usually cold and raining so our schools are mostly one building so you don’t have to go outside much (although my elementary/primary school had so many kids that they put in a bunch of portable classrooms and you had to walk outside anyway lol)
Same here in New Zealand!! Couldn’t imagine everything all being in one building
I want to see more basic traditional choices.
we as a society really need to let go of harry potter. they weren't even that good in the first place
@@lixyororke We as a society need to stop being so hypercritical of peoples interests. So its not your cup of tea, that's fine, but maybe let others enjoy things, yeah?

Australian schools are great 😂
97% of my school was original building built back in 1703 and the other 3% was new and was so oddly over technical. It didn't match at all 😂
I wish we had cafeterias, we just had a tuck shop with chocolate ice mony's and pizza pockets.
Nothing like waking up to a Deli upload! Let’s start my day off right 💁🏻♀️
She literally saved me today because it’s 4 am in Australia for me right now and I’ve been awake since 12 o’clock being very sick and I can’t sleep so I’m thankful I can watch a video from her.
hi i live in america and wanted to give u insight on high schools lol if you ever read this comment. security at schools is definitely becoming a more popular thing, i didn’t ever in elementary school but they started doing it for me in middle school and become strict to them randomly searching a different third of kids every morning based on how we get to school. every school in my county has morning searches that delays your arrival to class and sometimes makes us tardy for teachers from standing in line. anyways, cafeteria lunches are a thing you normally just have a student number that you type in and it’s like a dollar or two for your meal that day. two story schools are also becoming more popular my middle school was a brand new built school that had two stories and was huge. now i go to high school and right now there is currently a population of 3,000 kids. love you deli hope this helped clear up some of the questions and wonders you had
This is so far one of my favorite school builds from this pack. Its small which perfect for gameplay, cute and colorful 🥹
@@liza2444 my high school canteen is just like a fast food restaurant like you can buy nice high quality food probably even better then fast food.
13:05 thank you for including bathrooms for extra privacy! Disabilities being thought of even in the sims feels very inclusive and I appreciate it 💜💜💜💙💙💙♿️♿️♿️
At my high school (WA, Aus) we had a canteen but that's as much as a "cafeteria" we got :) great build. Pretty excited for the pack ☺️
So where do you eat your lunch?
At my school we had a canteen to and we ate lunch in a like classroom it was the hangout room
I get why people wouldn’t like that but I love gIant schools with lots of cliques lol
@@DylanRomanov That would be cool but in reality you can only have max 16 students on the lot (most probably way less) so I think it wouldn't really work :/
I feel you could add a seperate auditorium gym with the size of the lot compared to the school
Im waiting on this one too! Its just the cutest! Its so bright and happy
Ohh Deli, you didn’t miss the hand sanitizer it’s on Get to Work. Can’t wait for you to get your hands on this after the embargo.
This is a gorgeous school! New York USA, Cafeterias are literally anywhere. We had two, a satellite cafeteria and the main cafeteria… no clue why
Thank you so much for adding disabled toilets. Couldn't believe my ears. Means the world to be considered in the sims.
So excited about this pack! Watching videos like this does not make the anticipation any easier!
I honestly wasn’t even excited for this pack until seeing this build. Now I can’t wait
I thought I was the only one asked to leave class for an uncontrollable laughing fit! I was one of those kids who was never in trouble, so the teacher knew I wasn’t being difficult on purpose, so they just had me go stand in the hallway to get ahold of myself. I don’t even know what was so funny!
I’m so excited your redoing the highschool because once I saw EA highschool I was like ehhhhh
Highkey the exterior looks a LOT like my middle school did. I feel like mini schools make sense with the spawn limitations. Having
I finished school in '06 and we had no lockers. Just had to carry our heavy bags.
Ooh you should build like an even more renovated version of the school with all the packs once it's released.
It’s really fun to watch different peoples take on building a school
13:45 We actually had yellow walls in some of our middle schools bathrooms. Nobody I knew liked them.
I like seeing schools from different places in the world! It's even pretty different depending on the province or state or town you're in!
Yea I live in California and my high school I went to was built in the 2000s and it was all outdoor there was no indoor hallways
So basically it’s all spaced out
Schools differ in America. Some are one building some are entire campuses
Oh nice! I guess this is the stereotypical one we see a lot in the movies.
