Ever since dream went to prison, the story just got really boring. As there is no war, just ppl waiting for techno to break dream out and rest of them building nations. Dream SMP stands for war
definitely agreed. the story feels so slow now
Apparently this is just a build up lore - peaceful time. Dream said that everyone's lore will be crashing down around the same time and that there is going to be a small area where nothing is going to be happening. I don't know if this is the plan or not but it's good to keep in mind.

I personally wouldn't call this a downfall, but rather a break. Since the biggest storylines in the SMP like The Disc Saga and L'manburg ended, pretty much every member has taken a break (not just Techno lmao). I feel like the members are more than smart enough to start up the next big storyline, which could potentially give rise to an even more popular Dream SMP thanks to the exponential growth people like Tommy have experienced recently. yeah I agree with you, but the interest has definitely dropped a lot over the past few months. i think they it will begin to rise again very soon
@@cbry I agree, and especially during the summer. if it peaked last year during the summer, it can peak this year, especially since THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS, many people, learned about dream smp during the school year, and since it's summer, they will watch it more.
@ellewasfound_ But in my opinion its still super boring. I am only interested with Las Nevadas and Techno's storyline. The Egg arc was the worst story they've written. So I'm just waiting for the ending.
Honestly, They are just taking a break since dream is in prison the server became a peaceful server back in thr good old days, I think this is why dream wanted to go prison all along, If dream isnt in prison there would still be war.
@@cbry yes plus also with the release of 1.17 caves and cliffs update for minecraft the dream smp could use that to their advantage to make the dream smp fresh again and full of new things to do and explore and new different roleplays because of the update which will make the dream smp even more more interesting and fun which will make the dream smp grow even bigger and bigger now.
the plot became so contrived and repetitive after the jschlatt festival imo. The only thing I found entertaining after that was the “final battle” with Dream Tommy and Tubbo. That was also one of my complaints with it that they became too focused on the plot that there wasn’t any downtime or real “finality” about anything. Again, *just an opinion* that I’d like to share

@@jothompson8282 The two things you just mentioned are the most boring thing in the SMP. Ranboo's story is so cringe and unoriginal and his acting isn't even that good. But considering he's not a professional actor it makes sense.
The Egg story isn't even going anywhere now. They just pretty much ended it. And I'm glad they did because it was so boring. BBH is such a bad villain. He's better off playing the neutral or good guy. Man did absolutely nothing except get denied partnership by other members.
But that's just my opinion.

I just miss the semi-lore content between Tommy and Dream we got prior to the prison arc. Now they can never interact on stream and I just miss the improv of the early days on the smp.
I feel like the script take over alot of the times, and since the members aren't professional actors the whole think just comes across as staged and uptight.
It also comes off as cringe. I was cringing so hard during that Tommy vs Tubbo in the community house. And I cringed even harder when all of the SMP members came to save Tommyinnit and Tubbo from Dream.

@@NoelJames_ Yup. L'manberg was not scripted at all actually. They just planned small things. They then started doing scripted stuff which was still great because it was improv. Even if it is still improv and scripted both, the amount of things they do just come off as unnatural.
@@michaelc.8712 The Final Control Room was not scripted. They did not plan ahead anything. Wilbur would randomly come up with something and the others would follow in because content. Wilbur started really writing the story when the elections began when even then, the dialogue was improv and all that. Now we've got CHARACTER ARCS. You may like them, but I find then really cringy. They aren't professional actors and shouldn't really try to be em.
I like Tommyinnit but godamn his acting makes me cringe so hard. He says one word then takes a 10 second pause with weird sighing and breathing in the middle. Same with Ranboo. Technoblade, Slimecicle and Wilbur(I would've added schlatt but he doesn't play anymore) are the only ones that don't make me cringe and that's because they never take it TOO seriously. Except maybe Wilbur who went in HARD when asking Philza to kill him.
There was also the comedic beginning of things. an entire nation starting from a drug can was hilarious to realize, and Fundy being a girl and then turning into a boy was fun, Wilbursoot's wife being a Salmon and Philza's wife being a Fridge was great too.
Now they focus too much on seriousness and none of that comedy. Ranboo and Tubbo themselves admitted it. It FEELS scripted. When back then it didn't feel like it despite it being scripted.
@Clark Clak I'd say that they should end it soon. I'll be honest, the Dream SMP feels like a bloated corpse, with the cringy stans still trying to push it on. They need to end the SMP and move on because Honestly, its given the Minecraft community a bad name. And sure, the cringe stans may follow them but atleast the name of the Dream SMP will not be taken again.
Tommy kinda carried the server and now that he’s not streaming as much it’s not as fun
That's kinda the point of the entire server, Tommy got it to where it is and Dream knows that that's why all the exile and manipulation and blah happened but I'm guessing Tommy streaming less lore is intentional and now that Wilbur is revived and Techno called in the favor I'm guessing it should be picking up soon and besides there are too many loose ends and Wilbur is a writer, he knows as well as anyone not to leave to many large plotholes

@@Nyx_404 Tommy really didn't bring it the popularity. It was Wilbur. He's literally the one that started the storyline, Tommy barely even had 100k viewers back then. Meanwhile Technoblade or Dream were pulling in more than 100k viewers nearly every stream. If anything it's Ranboo that's still actively doing Dream SMP stuff.

Muhammad Fitri a lot of stuff, basically, quackity has created a new country called las nevadas, he tortures dream daily to try and get the revival book, he manipulated sam into giving him access to the prison, he recruited foolish, fundy, Charlie (the slime guy from Tommy’s mod videos), purpled, Wilbur tried to join but was rejected which lead to him building a country (well he called it an hq but idk) right next to las nevadas so he could create competition to las nevadas, he forced dream to write a note telling techno to come to the prison so quackity could kill techno, and I think that’s about it

Theory: After Dream escapes prison, he will use Snowchester’s nukes to destroy the entire map as revenge, but while this is happening, Karl is in the Other Side or time traveling, and when he comes back and sees this, he saves the SMP members by traveling them to a new time period/dimension which includes the 1.17 changes

I have seen this discussion going around the community like I saw a poll on my recommended saying ‘Is the Dream SMP dead’ and most people voted yes however I looked in the comments and people have said something along the lines of ‘I think everybody is just taking a break but soon everything will blow up again’ and yeah I can agree with that things have been building up recently like Wilburs revival and Las Nevadas
I mean, there was supposed to have been like 12 lore streams since Wilbur went to las nevadas, however apparently everyone on the dream smp is just really busy, so they keep delaying streams
The Dream SMP basically peaked when Dream was put in prison because most people saw that as the end of the Dream SMP. Yes there is the Eggpire but no one cares about it and treated like filler. I think it became especially more boring when technoblade left for a long time. Out of all the members on the server, technoblade had the most viewers on his live streams with Tommy right behind him. (Yes I know they use different platforms)
But now that he's retuned, and there is foreshadowing of dream escaping the prison. Maybe the dream SMP could recover a little bit.
With las nevadas and techno breaking dream out of prison, it’s gunna start to amp up. Ranboo said something along the lines of that the lore hadn’t really started any major lore, he said this a but before tommy died

Idk man. Imo it's just getting boring. At the start it was soo fun to watch, but i started finding it boring when the egg lore started. Shortly after that i stopped watching, the egg lore and las nevadas weren't as fun as previous lore. I will start watching again if the lore becomes more exciting.

I thought the storyline would finally get more interesting once Wilbur got revived but it’s been a disappointment to say the least. Hopefully this Las Nevadas arc will make things more interesting.
In all honesty the server is dying is because of all the lore, they can’t do anything that’s meaningful because it’s not part of the script or it’s just filler

Well the Dream SMP has to end at some point, I agree with that. I don't think it will be TOO soon though, there's still new people getting added and a shit ton of lore that needs to be wrapped up and definitely some explanations.
For me, the golden days of dsmp ended when L'manburg last blown up by Philza, Techno, and Dream.

I think they need to realize that they aren't going to become the next Hermitcraft: They can't go on forever. I'd say they should go out with a bang while they still can, but they're already fading out of relevance.
I don't think it's cus of the virus that led to the SMP being very uninteresting to most people (myself included), I just find that the writing for the story has been completely bland. The Election/Pogtopia vs Manberg arc was still the best and epic arc of the series imo.

I think that once 1.17 part 2 will be out the DreamSMP will restart . The story , personalities of the characters , buildings , world , everything.
It really isn't a downfall. I personally think either the dream smp will die and just have fans like me who will keep watching, or they'll have an absolutely amazing new plotline. A lot of people including myself would prefer watching Wilbur jschlatt and techno so they should implement them more. Right now the season is really slow and that is the problem. Techno is about to bust dream out so maybe that'll make it more popular.
Tldr: nothing interesting is happening and there aren't enough diverse streamers

Things are gonna pick up everyone is just super busy lmao how I know this is because dream, Tommy , Ranboo and I think Tubbo already said there would be lore coming back but y’know the writing takes a bit because they have to plan out ever sequence that could happen in the lore while doing improv but makes sense why people left.
I hope there's this massive nuclear explosion destroying the whole smp teleporting them to 1.17.

Doubt it, they’ll probably only reset when 1.18 comes out, since all the new terrain generation has been moved to 1.18 and it’ll be releasing somewhere around December so even if the nukes do go off, not 100% sure if it’ll be any time soon

1.17 is Split in two updates. The first part is around the corner. And it only adds the blocks. The New World Generation comes with the 2nd Update.
This is not the end. The egg and the syndicate probably will have a war (maybe) but there’s so many new places so there has to be more

I totally agree with this video ^^ Quackity’s villain/casino arc takes very long to create because of the cinematic aspect. Techno blade has started to do lore now which will add more to the lore, not to include l’sandburg and l’lamaburg! Someone on the dream smp also said that there will be a stream that will tie everything together. (Great video btw :))

Well, wouldn't this be the calm before the storm for the smp? Wilbur is back, there's a new member. Ranboo is daily on the server, and possibly the death of Tubbo/Michael could start a new war. Tubbo recently said he is working on lore, something big. Ranboo is planning his next lore stream for when he's in the UK. There is still lore happening, even if it is slow and preparing for the next big thing.

The thing about the dream smp is if it were to end it would heavily effect some of the content creators and would barely effect other's like for some they only stream dream smp or when they don't stream on the smp they get significantly less viewers
Not only the cliffs update coming, but the server will 100% reset as there’s a new member being added, Michael McChills. I honestly could see the DreamSMP slowly losing its spirit and seeing it get more..dry..over the months has been kinda sad. If it does reset i think it would be good. The reason a lot of the members have stopped playing is bc they all have netherite and way more gear, and it’s starting to get boring and pointless for them to play.
I see it as
1. Techno comes back
2. Someone frees Dream
3. Dream looses rest of his mind and chaos begins
4. Everyone dies
5. THE END
I think personally the egg feels a bit too fake and we really like the super genuine days of where it was just the members with the basic script
i think and HOPE its just the quiet before the storm
I personally think the server got worse because:
1. Tommyinnit started streaming less. He is the best part of the server and the less he is online, the worse the server is because most other streamers aren't very entertaining.
2. The server got way more "lore" based which is probably the fanbase's fault. This lead to a lot less interesting and funny moments to make place for more "lore".
A downfall that is well deserved. The world will benefit from being free from this curse.
But they still keep the server running, those greedy pigs.
I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. I don't think Covid-19 has anything to do with the "downfall" of Dream SMP, so much as the current state of the gameplay and story. Even now, the only thing anyone is interested in is the big question of "When is Techno breaking Dream out?" I didn't even know the Eggpire story had ended until Evan made his video about it.
But it's not just the lack of interesting story... it's the lack of things to *do.* The players are participating in other content because they have exhausted all their projects. A number of people started their own stories independent from everyone else to try and fill that void but it's not cutting it because there's nothing "big" happening.
I could go on, but this is just my analysis as a 10-year server admin, game designer and writer. You have to keep people entertained to keep them engaged, and at this time DSMP - both its audience AND it's players - are not.

Cbry can you make a video about why Sam doesn't want Tommy in the prison,is determined to keep Tommy away from Pandora's vault (even tho a UA-camr named Mythrodak made a perfect escape plan for Dream),and makes up an absurd reason for it. While still letting Quackity in the prison with weapons to torture Dream everyday?
Just like Ranboo said on the sub discord server today, I also miss the improv bits cuz fans began to be interested on the Dream SMP when lores aren't even *'lores'* yet and the audience have absolutely no idea what they're about to watch when the streams started and even the members only have vague ideas of what's gonna happen like rn they have these scripts and all that that makes the earlier dsmp streams lose it's like specialty or something. I mean what they're doing now is also good specially with Quackity but for someone who was there when improvs are being done I still kinda prefer them over the super scripted ones. Also Tommy and Wilbur's lore streams are also really cool cuz despite it being scripted they were always make everything seem like improv (in my opinion) so yeah. Just my opinion too though.
I also agree to the fact that most ccs have been transitioning their content like Tommy barely even streams now and is so much more focused on UA-cam, Wilbur with his music (stan Lovejoy /j), Tubbo with his daily alt streams as a variety streamer and the three of them are the ones who like usually start the 'lores' at the beginning. Even Ranboo barely does lore nowadays cuz there's a script he has to coordinate with other members and for me the story started slowing down after Tommy got his disks back and Dream was in prison but yeah I'm just waiting for Wilbur to go back to writing.
I wrote a lot of bullshit for a Minecraft server, haven't I.. JeSus..
I agree 100% I miss the days when they didn't have to say what was or wasn't lore, they just would go on the server and do whatever they wanted.
And yes, what Quackity is doing is really cool, as of today, the members of Las Nevadas seem to be logging back and playing in the server, getting to know each other and building there, those were the things that I missed.
And I also wrote a lot, but this server had a special part in my heart and I only want it to get better.
Hopefully we don't have to wait a lot for the new arc

I don’t think it has a downfall. I think because of the writing right now and due to excessive lore streams, they are either just taking a break or the writing in this part is just slow af.
IMO the schlatt era of the smp was the best.
We can't lie to ourselves. That's not the only reason. It was a bunch of things including the one mentioned in the video.
1. Wilbur leaving. There was little direction after Wilbur left and stopped writing. The story lines weren't the same. Not bad just less focused and honestly repetitive. Just look at all the festival's lol.
2. Too many people. Don't get me wrong I like a lot of the new people. But the content got too much. People already complained that the dream smp was hard to follow. It just kept getting worse with new people.
3. Non-in-game rp elements. After Wilbur people began to introduce elements that were not part of Minecraft to the plot. E.g., the egg, the nuclear bomb, etc. As fewer we just play along, but the more important these things became, the less interesting those plots were. Dream was always such a good bad guy cuz he was a tangible threat with real danger. The Egg on the other hand is just a made a thing which is less interesting.
I think these reasons are just as important as thequaratine restrictions behind lifted. Just nuking the server and starting a s2 will not fix these. In s2, they will also need to have a fixed way for everyone to easily follow the story. They will also need to control the number of people to something manageable for viewers. Additionally they should have some fixed rules for RP, the same way they introduced canon lives.
That's my opinion anyway

I agree with you, ever since Wilbur left, the lore has not been the same. They seem to be waiting for him, but it has been months.
What I find important in the server is the improv lore, seeing characters interacting with each other, but since no one logs in anymore, we don't get that.
They also seem to think that lore is only when you do a big event, when it can be they just hanging out, that's how we get character development.
And yes, Dream was such a good antagonist, I can't wait for him to get out of prison, and feel dread again when he logs back in the server.
@@gabyinbloom true. When there are less people they do a lot of single person lore streams and tbh I'm not a fan of those. I like Ranboo but I hate anytime it's just Ranboo talking to himself for hours. It's honestly so boring. But when their aren't too many people on, that's what we gonna get
@@tomiwaaina5499 the sad part is that yesterday he said he wanted to work with other people to do lore, but the timing didn't work out. His lore is interesting, but the story is getting dragged cause other people don't advance the story of the SMP
@@gabyinbloom I don't even think Wilbur HAD to be the one doing the Lore, I just think they needed some structure to it, like I mentioned in the original comment.
I think one think was keeping things within reason. Things never got too outtahand with Wilburs plot. Even when they did, it was silly unimportant stuff like his wife being a fish. But with other people doing the plot we get thinks like the Egg, mind control, Nuclear bombs... I don't know about you but those take me out lol.
Also when Wilbur wasn't doing the plot, the plot lost structure. Like different people seemed to be doing "important" stuff, but none of it was related and often didn't amount to anything.
Anyone who can guide the ship, in those ways would be great. If its Wilbur, even better... but yeah it'll need people to be active again to grow back.
It’s not exactly getting less popular it’s just that nothing is fucking happening, as soon as technoblade or quackity stream dream smp (since it’s almost always lore) they get like 400k+ viewers at a time but since jack shit is happening otherwise it’s kinda low on content
You can reset chunks in the new update so they wouldn’t have to go far just where no one has I built
I think this video glosses over the actual reasons that Dream SMP fell.
1. It was scripted. Making the stories very mundane and redundent.
2.The Fandom is a fucking mess.
3. Most of the players are not even good at this game and rely on screaming just to be funny.

Actually 1.17 will have very little cave generation changes. If you didn't know, a couple months ago Mojang announced that the update will be split. All of the cave gen and biomes will be in 1.18 this holiday season. There will still be blocks like deepslate, lush cave blocks, copper, amethyst, and candles though.
Here after technos stream(visiting Dream). I have a feeling things will start to change
This is an interesting topic to me because all of these 'MCYTs' haven't been doing well. I used to watch them but I do not like the community and I don't like the idea of being a stan or even someone who watches these creators. No offense to anyone who enjoys watching these people but their content really isn't for me. I feel like people could easily create "THE DOWNFALL OF THE DSMP" because they aren't very relevant anymore. I do realize that they are still very popular on twitch but I haven't been seeing much content on UA-cam or TikTok anymore, even though a year ago my for you page would be cluttered with stans and cosplays. However, for some reason, my TikTok page is fairly normal. I mean, obviously I'm going to run into a Minecraft video occasionally--especially with the rise of PNGTubers like JellyBean, etc.--but my FYP has been typically average. The weird thing is I never go on TikTok anymore, it is like a once in 3 month occasion for me. Ok that's all I have to say LOL.
I felt a lot of the later arcs had less and less grander endings and alot like the eggs ending is so boring i think
continuing with my last comment i can’t remember who but someone said are there gonna be some new members to dream and he said when there’s a new like war or something i don’t know the word era is it idk but when there is like loads of lore so i think that’s just being planned because what about the favour? le nevadas? wilbur and tommy’s ‘safe place’? the egg? the syndicate? there’s so much more we need to know about and i think there will be another war after or something big!
My time was pretty short. I started following the story just after Dream was imprisoned and fell off just before the Red Banquet. To me, L'manburg and the Disc Wars are like a chapter in a history textbook. I love the SMP for introducing me to so many great content creators like Tommy, Ranboo, and Techno, and I'll probably be back, someday, when I have the time.

I actually applied to try and help them as a writer. But they never got back so sad face, however I legit had ideas that I think would of made the smp even more popular.
In Tommys new stream, he found out it was an active server again, Las Nevadas, and Technoblade is streaming again. Dream and some others cant do these vlogs and stay around because they don't want to show their faces, however, Dream said he wanted to do his face reveal when Quarintine is over, Technoblade said he might reveal his face when meeting up with Wilbur, and Ranboo says he might when he meets up with Tubbo.
The Los Nevadas Arc is going to be a banger and it already is, Quackity and Wilbur singlehandedly bringed back the life, its hopefully coming back

well if im going to be cheesy I kinda feel like the dream smp had its first death when wilbur died and lmanburg got blown up properly from the first time, second one when lmanburg got blown up completely and 3rd was when everyone gradually started falling off of the dream smp a bit, and the improv died. I just think a lot of people would agree that lmanburg was kinda the heart of the server and when it died people lost interest a bit ESPECIALLY once the whole disc over arching plot finished - theres just not anything to keep it going right now

i dont think its dying (well the viewership) tommyinnit have more than 200k on it every time, technoblade would get near 500k, quackity would also get 200k, and etc. It was near this point during the manberg festival so yeah, also the VOD views would get like near 3 million. (talkin bout plot streams) although non plot would still get near 100k.
Nah it’s definitely dying now thanks to the lack of lore streams due to everyone on the server being extremely busy, there aren’t a lot of streams on the dream smp anymore, especially not any lore streams. There were supposed to have been like 4 wilbur lore streams that have just been delayed every time because no one on the dream smp that’s in these lore streams have time for it.

Actually, new caves aren't till December so they have time till then but yeah I agree with the points
I think it just got way too complicated with all the laws and stuff. I think it was fine with the disc war and that kind of stuff but L'manberg- nah like I think that everyone just got tired of all of the war. And when dream went into prison the whole story just fell apart.
Yeah after dream got into the prison, i just lost interest to watch as the new egg thing nd all was coming up

It's been like half a year since anything decent has happened, except for the whole technoblade thing, but I think it's safe to say the dream SMP has fallen off. I don't think it'll ever get back to the same level again. I did enjoy watching the dream SMP, wouldn't call myself a stan of any sort but it was enjoyable up until dream entered prison. Everything seemed slow except for technoblade escaping, but then things just went back to normal. I hope it gets back to the same level of enjoyability soon.
Ok I need some help. I’m a new fan of the dsmp. Which really sucks because I feel like it all ended. So I have a couple questions still. Is another big story line gonna happen? Or is it all just gonna fade away? Or does nobody know? I’m trying to watch streams. Especially when they say dream smp. But nothing is happening. If someone could answer a couple of these questions that’d be great. Thanks for the vid it helped some

Hmmm, yeah it is mostly new stuff you should watch las nevadas if you haven’t already, it’s like a 3 hour movie in total but it’s really good and is kinda the main plot right now (well I mean it’s where all the plot point converge)

I think now that Wilbur is gonna create a new nation there's gonna be more wars (especially between him and Quackity) and there will be a lot of drama once Dream breaks out of prison. I think there's still a lot of stuff that's gonna happen and it will be interesting
