Hi everyone! I’m Karlee Boon, the director/producer of “Night Shift.” 🐺🍒 Thank you all so much for taking the time to watch my film. A coming-of-age story at heart, Night Shift was my way of exploring the complexities of female adolescence, growing up in a small town, and finding your place in the world, all through an ‘80s-inspired horror lens. The film was shot in Portland, Oregon across 1 day and 6 nights in October of 2021, and features some truly iconic PNW locations like Skyline Diner and Milwaukie Bowl. The original score and soundtrack (one of my favorite elements of the whole film!) was composed by the incredible Mel Guerison and features a healthy mix of doo-wop, shoegaze and new wave inspired tracks. If you have any questions about the film or the inspiration behind it, please leave a comment below. Don't be shy, I won't bite :) 🩸
@@bosswhale422😂 you'd not know kiddo 😂😂 Seriously. Knew a guy worked at Wendy's when I was in school. Told me the guy that had to stir chili so it'd not burn all shift would indeed spit in it. I worked a decent restaurant as dishwasher when I was 20. The other guys wouldn't even prewrinse the plates. I got to day shift an one day set the machine to clean around 10am. The new boss / owner wasn't happy. It'd take better part of an hr for machine to use the chemicals an clean itself w hot water. Then I'd drain clean strained food out refill machine etc. Yeah just FYI that was my 3rd if 4 months u worked there. Only time it was ever cleaned. So just keep telling yourself how superior you are an your foods so clean. Those other guys didn't give 2 fucks. They'd set the plates out to be used w cheese stuck on them. It'd be up to the cooks to look first an if they cared or not getting $9hr 😂
Cheryl kept reminding me of Ginger from Ginger Snaps with the blond streaks and makeup. Absolutely loved this film. I think this has to be one of my favourites.
@@bitethehandfilms7374god I wish you could make this into a full length film. Where they are after this. A ginger snaps back almost like film. I love their friendship. They never said I love you, because they are def in love in some kinda way. Idk, WE NEED IT
I worked opening shifts (4 am) at a hospital convenience store and coffee shop (think the official name is a travel store), this shit you see fucks with your head. anyone doing night shifts or graveyard shifts I have massive respect for and always tip extra if Im out late/ early.
My favourite Alter film hands down. Actors portray their characters so naturally. I love the story ,and the cinematography is gorgeous! Also, their friendship is
I’d love to see a part 2 of this. Love the 80s w the whole werewolf thing… felt like there’s some lgbt mixed in there… but I’d def love to follow these two on the next chapter of their friendship!!!! Give me more!!!
It was a bit intense at the first few minutes but I loved the rest of the short film but what nearly made me tear up was when Darcy said “we won’t see each other again” 😢😢 but nice film anyway ❤❤❤🩸💀🐺
Karlee, I have to thank you for your amazing movie, it was heartwarming, and the background music made it splendid. Instead of giving us the typical werewolf movie, you create something unique and faithful because real friendship stays forever.
So far my favorite short film. Really. I loved it. I love the 80s vibe. The soundtrack was awesome and fit perfectly. The writing was not bad and the acting fit the 80s theme without being to corny. Overall just like a real cinematic experience because it is. I am a fan now.
That was AMAZING idk why but the ending made me feel emotional. The song, the true friendship, everything tied together beautifully !!! Also does anyone know the ending track ID?
for the decent acting, editing/sounds and music it's unfortunate the sfx makeup at 7:49 is the most terrifying part of this short - i mean no one is expecting masterclass applications but they didn't even try blending in the edges and just slapped that ish on there. 💀
@@blackice51374 sure, and like i said it had pretty decent acting, good editing/sound work and good music selection, but it's also ok to call out very poor special fx quality when one can't be bothered to even smooth an edge of some latex prosthetic.

I enjoyed it so much!!
You did such an amazing job!
Thank you for this! It was really good!!
that's why you never bully or harass a waitress, you never know what she gonna do...spit on your food, or eat your internal organs.
If you spit in my food that is an incoming lawsuit to the restaurant and employee!

I have always wanted a bestie like that. I never have, and I never will.
i feel you🥲🥲
I’ll be ur bestie you deserve a good friend
they are more than besties
I know the feeling. And yet, never say never.
That's the spirit 😂
Cheryl looks like Chappel Roan. And Darcy sounds like Sydney Sweeney
Lmao so many people have said the Chappell Roan thing! 😂 Thank you for checking out the movie!
Agree, and I see a young Rosanna Arquette in Darcy. Both did a great job!
I was looking for this comment lol

Ginger Snaps was a huge source of inspiration for our lead character, Cheryl! Thank you so much for the kind words! :)
Glad I wasn't the only one to think of Ginger Snaps. Happy that little film from the Great White North draws inspiration 24 years later
Immediately reminded me of ginger snaps, great homage!

back in the day it was easier to come out as a werewolf than a lezzie
Are they both fictional?
Lmao ginger snaps
Night shifts are really scary, I mean even in real life. I do night shifts and often got scared ( maybe because i watch scary movies).
Waitresses have one of the toughest, scariest jobs I'm the world. Power to you.

Yes yes to all of this!! Hoping a feature length version is down the line ❤
Great werewolf movie! The 2 ladies must be bffs in real life, very believable friendship.
It was so cute watching them bond over the course of the project!!
I loved it. Thank you! Blood, fangs, revenge, and friendship. Gives me the warm fuzzies. LoL 🙂👍👍
Well said, haha!
A Goth version of "Two Broke Girls".
This is so funny to me 😂
Omg I know right Cheryl reminds me of max and then blonde reminds me of Caroline
Can we acknowledge that that’s the same area that Michael Jackson’s intro to thriller was filmed in but you didn’t hear it from me lol

Good thing Cheryl knew how to ride a motorcycle. I'd still be stuck there with my thumb out trying to hitch a ride, whilst covered in blood.
Bro spoiled 😭😭😭
I've been hooked on the Alter horror films this morning. LOve your content!!!!
When I first found Alter I binged all the shows, now I wait very impatiently for the next ones to come out

I was blown away by the film! The two main actresses were amazing and the was superb and directing was spot on !
I enjoyed watching this to the very end. Well done! Great acting, cinematography and soundtrack.
Small town essence was definitelt captured in this film. The music score made you feel what was happening. Good work.
She look like Chappell
They get that a lot...😂

I loved this so much. The ending was great ❤ I loved the relationship between Cheryl and Darcy
I enjoyed this. It had a nice Ginger Snaps vibe, but with a happier ending. I'd love to see a longer adaptation.
This was amazing. Perhaps my favorite ALTER so far.
What a good acting and soundtracking, it felt really real to see that kind of reactions between best friends ❤
We all know a Scottie. It is so satisfying seeing the revenge! Great movie, I felt it to my core! 🖤🖤
Excellent work from start to finish , let's get a part 2 ❤
