How to choose the right PSU (which Power Supply Unit you need and how to install it)

- Here I'm talking to you about how to select a power supply unit for your PC build and the things to think about before hand. Including what wattage you need for your build and whether the PSU will fit in your case. Then I'll show you how and where to connect all the various cables. In this video I'm using the Corsair RM1000e PSU for demonstration purposes, but most modern modular power supply units will have a similar logic to them.
Things to consider when buying and installing a PSU:
- Not buying cheap (this can break your system)
- Ensuring the PSU will fit in your case (check the size specs)
- Making sure you have the right wattage for your PC specs
- Using the right cables in your build
- Ensuring you fully plug in all the cables!

Sheer amount of cables included with power supply causes a headache ! Fortunately, this video helps to sort them all out. Quite fast course for novices but all the important info is there. This video should be watched several times and studied carefuly. And then watched again during our own builds.
Hopefully it helps!

Yuuuuup. Lots more to come too.
Picked up an AX1600i recently. Pretty solid PSU I must say!
Up until just recently, last time I bought a PSU was 5 years ago. Defo a case where buying bigger works out for the best. The difference I found buying one recently, is that It's almost a must now to have to include spending similar prices for after market cabling. Without it, cabling is horrendous.
Great and very informative video! I will be building my first pc soon so it will definetely come in handy. Could you recommend me any mobos for AM5?
hey prawn was wondering whether i can put on the corsair dark red pro cables on the corsair rm1000e(2023) psu
i already got my MasterLiquid PL360 Flux CPU Liquid Cooler , gskills trident z rgb ddr5 16x2 6000mhz , samsung 980pro 1TB & Biwintech NX500 1TB NVME and the other parts i am planning to get is the 13700k , 7900 XTX sapphire nitro+ and a MSI INTEL Z790 GAMING PRO WIFI ATX MOTHERBOARD , i am still confused and not satisfied with my research of power consumption ,because i only got a thermaltake snow edition 850w full modular psu , can you help me out ? like if it's enough or not enough while i play games without ocing it and letting the stock oc do the work and how much power do i acutally need ? 850,1000,1200 ???
Hi, Are you going to do a video with the new corsair icue link system? The controller within this will need one of the PCIe power outlets on the PSU. This will leave only one free outlet for a corsair RM850e
Yes. Soon hopefully
@@TheProvokedPrawn Sounds great, looking forward to it. Keep up the good work 🙂
@@thomaslyngbyeboje6333 will do
is corsair type 5 cable and type 4 cable are same?? coz i saw u use type 5 cable with the psu which designed for type 4 cable
No, type 5 is smaller at the PSU end
@@TheProvokedPrawn but in the previous video u used type 5 cable with the psu where it was written designed for type 4 cable i m bit confused
the way that u installed that cooler is the worst way u wana do this... fans and radiator is good always to be above the pump so if there is an air it stands up in the radiator not in the pump
No. You are wrong. ua-cam.com/video/qQcyYHGtArs/v-deo.html
